THE Niger State government has said it will partner with the Millennium Development Goals (MDGs) office in the state to purchase 50 metro ambulances at the cost of N3.5 billion.
Governor Mu’azu Babangida Aliyu announced this in Minna, on Monday, adding that the ambulances would be distributed to each of the 25 local government area of the state to assist accident victims and other patients in distress.

The governor, speaking at the inauguration of the first five of the ambulances, said the government was concerned about the number of lives being lost daily to accidents on the roads, adding that if the facility was available, some lives could be saved.

Governor Aliyu said the government planned to have, at least, two ambulances in each of the 25 councils in the state, as part of strategy to ensure health care delivery in the state was made efficient and effective.

Earlier, the Director-General of the state MDGs office, Alhaji Hassan Nuhu, had assured that the second batch of 10 ambulances would be delivered in the state soon.
Nuhu also used the occasion to announce his intention to contest the next election into the House of Representatives.

This ones are TOO CHEAP man! These lootocrats are out to steal billions of naira and this ambulance purchase is just a mere excuse!

Maybe the report itself is erroneous. 50 Ambulances for N 3.5 billion does not make much sense to me. There is likely an error with the report or someone, somewhere needs a new calculator.
