Sometime in 2016, the new Obalende Bus terminal was commissioned. It was seen opening a new vista in the transport sub-sector. It’s commissioning was greeted with so much fanfare.

However, a few years down the line, its impressive and clean outlook is fast diminishing.

The Obalende Bus Terminal now wears an untidy look.

It brings us back to the issue of our poor maintenance culture.

With new and resplendent bus terminals springing up in Lagos state, would our maintenance culture be able to keep them in the current impressive state?

It's easier to destroy than to create. Nigeria polithiefcians are more concerned about the creation of this projects to Greese there own palm, maintenance is non of their business.
And the masses also have this "I don't care attitude" towards government property, this lack of ownership mindset.

Maintenance culture is important .. now matter how beautiful an infrastructural edifice is and there is no maintenance culture, it’s just as good as dead ..

Good success. I am really not liking Abuja at all. Lagos is the next best thing. May settle there.

Just 2 years old?!?!

Meanwhile you will see 100 year-old structures being well kept and used in other countries.

Seriously OP, I will be surprised if you are surprise.

Politically projects in Nigeria are like treatments we go to a chemist to receive in those days when you are ill. When you regain your health, resume your hustle and dont bother about checkups unless the ailment resurfaces.

Thank God I'm in Kaduna and not in Nigeria.

Though some things are going out of place at that bus park, maintenance has been fine. They should include renovation and improve on cleanliness.

Do you remember the first match played at Abuja National Stadium?

The spectators caused N5million of damage in just a few hours!

Don't be surprised to discover that people light fires to roast corn in that terminal at night!

Simple! We need to take maintenance serious as putting up ds structures.......in standard practice cost of construction < operation and maintenance. By economics, O&M is the most job creating of a project in its entire life span compare to what our so called leaders see as job creating Avenue - the project execution. We will wake when we are ready.
