Christianity is the belief that a cosmic Jewish zombie who is his own father can make you live forever if you symbolically eat his flesh and telepathically tell him you accept him as your master, so he can remove an evil force from your soul that is present in all humanity because a rib-woman was convinced to eat from a magical tree by an infinitely sadistic being disguised as a talking snake with legs.

Islam is the belief in the same old testament God of Christians - but believe that the Bible has got it wrong, Jesus was only a prophet and not the son of God and also not the same God as himself. And that god's name is Allah, not Yahweh. And he sent one of his angels down to earth around 600 years after Jesus died to gradually (23 years) dictate this to an illiterate arabian man called Mohammed.

As a christian, or a muslim, please could you explain to me why you believe these ancient stories are true, and cannot see how ridiculous the stories are to people who dont.

we are now in the age of reasoning where every knowledge is scrutinized in the light of modern knowledge and any one that is found wanting is tossed aside into the garbage heap.

but unfortunately some people have been trapped in the past and are directing their lives based on the experiences of primitive people more than two thousand years ago. overlooking the grand experiences that one can have here and now

Both of them just have to believe and hold tenaciously unto what they have been indoctrinated to believe is true, because one can only have faith in what they’ve been told is god’s word. . .They all claim that their imaginary deities can speak but all the deities only rely on some crazy unknown humans that lived very long to write their words for them. . . . .Faith is yet another human construct that takes our gullibility and our willingness to relinquish both responsibility and rigorous intellectual honesty, and aims it all at man made myth. A very long period of systematic teaching is what makes people to believe these obvious lies and myths, after a very long period of hearing the same thing being repeated over and over again it become the "truth". . . . The fact remains that all these faith and belief are just ridiculous since it cannot be faith in god's word. It can only be faith in what you are told about.

All learned organized religious knowledge is known through the filter of the teacher(Pastors, parents and others).

To Accident be the glory! Accident is awesome.

Nobody knows yet what caused the big bang. All that is known is that observations show that the universe is expanding and if you rewind the expansion it started from a single point.

Lets investigate and find out as much as we can about the universe. Lets at least try to understand as much as we can about light, gravity, stars, galaxies, the elements, fusion, black holes, dark matter etc. before jumping to premature conclusions and worshipping the gods of ancient bronze age desert nomads who had no idea about the scale of the universe we are in.

Maybe the big bang was not an accident, just as gravity can cause an immense amount of energy to be released in the core of a star. This was only discovered less than 100 years ago. There is much more to be discovered in the future, just as we both can now agree that the sun is not a god.

Keep a rational mind, you dont need to worship allah or yahweh or krishna anymore. Just seek the truth.

People prefer to believe because it is a comfortable way to go. They do not have to hurt their brain cells by trying to figure out the true origin of the universe and how everything came to be. Too much work. Just believe in a myth, foreign or local, and the brain cells will give thanks for that.
