Al-Makura issues strict guidelines, bans branded attires

The Chairman of the Committee on the Ekiti State All Progressives Congress’ governorship primaries, Tanko Al-Makura, has issued guidelines for the rescheduled primaries slated for Saturday at the Damlek Event Centre in Ado Ekiti.

He told journalists in Ado Ekiti on Friday that the measures were to forestall a repeat of what occurred last Saturday when the exercise was disrupted by some agents.

Mr Al-Makura, who is the governor of Nasarawa State, said those who were culpable in disrupting last Saturday’s exercise, have been banned from taking part in the rescheduled primaries.

He assured that the exercise would be free and fair, but warned that aspirants must cooperate with the committee by adhering to strictly to the guidelines.

He said the accreditation of delegates, journalists, observers and other critical stakeholders would start at 8am, while adequate security arrangements and other facilities needed for the conveniences of participants had been provided.

“Any delegate accredited won’t be allowed to go out for any reason,” Mr Al-Makura said while reading out the guidelines.

“Any delegate that enters the arena must be identified by his party membership card, and extra statutory identity like International Passport, Driver’s Licence and National ID Card.

“Such delegates must be identified with the list given to us by the National Secretariat. All accreditation must be completed for delegates from all the senatorial zones before voting starts.

“Voting will be done once at a time and it will start with delegates from Ekiti South, the farthest, then to Ekiti North and Ekiti Central, the closest.

“After identification, delegates will be given ballot paper and they will submit their delegates tag for punching and the will also submit the ropes of their tags.

“Cubicle for voting area are ready for delegates and delegates will go in and cast their votes. One outlet will be dedicated for voters and no voter will be allowed back into the hall once he votes.

“At the end of the voting, there will be sorting to be followed by counting.”

He also noted that the panel won’t allow any aspirant or delegate that wears branded clothing to the venue of the primary.

He further warned that those suspended for their involvement in last Saturday’s fracas would be arrested if found at the venue of the primaries.

He noted that some of the hoodlums arrested for disrupting the primaries were already being prosecuted in court.

Give us Segun Oni and Ekiti will be all over APC for the guber race.... with Fayemi APC will spend more and may still lose the election.... He was just defeated as a sitting GOVERNOR loosing election in all the local governments under him including his own.

Segun Oni has enough goodwill and the only thing that can work against him is Buhari bad governance. Give me a Segun Oni anytime and you will have my vote irrespective of political party.... He is a very discipline personality!

grin cheesy

Fayemi has housed 1600 delegates at various hotels in Ekiti for the past two days

When he wins today , nobody should start shouting the primaries were rigged.

I'll be surprised if Fayemi doesn't win this ticket considering that 80% of delegates are his loyalists and the Presidency bloc is rooting for him.

Fayemi doesn't have up to 80% loyalists among the delegates. Even with the way he is wooing them with money, he has only been succeeded in camping just some numbers above 1000 out of the over 2000 total delegates.

I pray Fayemi wins.... We want to show him that the previous election was not a joke at all. But if Segun Oni wins, there's still "hope" for APC.

The battle is between fayemi and oni.

If fayemi loses I don't see him supporting oni. And chances of apc winning ekiti will be slim.

BTW
Like for segun oni and share for fayemi.
