Leave Saga to his own opaks
On Amodus page on wiki, they said he was sacked for his technical ineptitude
Osaze said the team was not properly coached
Etuhu has just said the same thing
NFF sacked him for bringing our standard to such a low level.
Even Amodu himself knew he was a joke

3 months with Lagerback, I think the eagles will be back to their best in little time

I personally do not rate Amodu high. He has had many chances to improve the National team but its the same heart ache all the time.

I am only giving Lagerback the benefit of doubt because I have seen his team play four matches and every match has been an improvement on the previous one.

If we don't improve against Greece and Korea then we can say whatever we want to say.

This is not about Amodu or no Amodu. If Amodu is good enough he should go and prove his mettle with another team.
Again, I personally do not rate him as a good coach at all.

You are a liar.  tongue grin

Show us on the wiki page where it said so.

Amodu's record speaks for itself.  grin

I am yet to see anything Lagerback has improved in 4 games. Be it:

Team selection
Team play
Urgency from players
Tactics
Scores

But he is a handsdown good placebo for optimism from black fans. Amodu failed miserable in that. grin

Amodu is the worst National team manager Nigeria's ever had. . . . . . .There i said it!!!
He lacks the technical/tactical nous to manage a national team. U can tell he has no tactics. . . . .no formation, no technical input.
He just rolls out 11 men on the pitch and he expects miracles from them.

The last ACN was the worst i have seen Nigeria play since i was born.
I could not pick any single match we played like the Nigerian team of the yesteryears.
In a country like Korea or China, Amodu woulda been in Prison for treasonable felony
Re: Nigeria Vs Argentina: [0 - 1] On June 12, 2010 @ World Cup by Sagamite(m): 8:46pm On Jun 13, 2010
See Australia taking a throw in in their half. FIVE Germans marking one player each were within 5 yards of the place.

In yesterday's match, Nigeria would have 2 players marking 5 Argies and the two would watch them chest the ball, put it on the knee, trap it before they think of even moving close.

What a great improvement.

While I agree with you that we were ball watching, I think That Arrow Amodu would not have fared better- but again he is not rated as much as Lagerback. There are obvious flaws in our game and Lagerback using Keita as a RM did not help matters. The prep in a high altitude environment was only one day which in my opinion was a major kuck up!

I think we should all hope that against greece, we see an improved eagles. Who knows we might get to semis grin

This argument is getting boring guys, lets watch the German machine destroy Aussies. Poor refreeing is making me hate the match already!

@Sagamite,

I think everyone agrees that the Super Eagles indivdually cannot match the Argentines. As a coach in such a situation, you play to your strengths. Which is to contain them and hit them on breaks. If the players had brought in their scoring boots, we would have scored at least two goals yesterday (when Odemwingie decided to be selfish and refused to pass to Martins and Uche's sitter)  to Argentina's one and we won't be here debating this.

And yes, I have taken into consideration Enyeama's heroics. He is a part of the 11 that is his job. Its a different thing if Messi and the rest had hit the post or blasted the one on ones wide, in that case we could claim Nigeria was lucky however, it wasn't so, the goalkeeper did his job, if the other players did theirs, we would be telling a different story.

Please watch Australia losing 4-0, but yet still fight for lose balls and 50-50s in midfield than SE midfield were fighting yesterday.

I swear lets see how they play against Greece.

You can match them for stamina, commitment and hard work. There are no excuses for those at the WC.

If Higuain and Messi have scored the ones that went wide, you would have lost 3-2.

And what makes you sure Argentina's keeper too can not save?

Australia are playing with 10 men, yet they have 3 people in the box to head a crossing.

They did not come and watch a training match and say Germany is a better team with better players.

Etuhu is excited to see Messi play.

We cannot make such conjectures, the fact is that he did not save and Enyeama did. Anyways all that one na 'ifs'.

As per commitment and hard wor, last time I saw that in the eagles team was against Tunisia in abuja when it seemed they wouldn't be going to the world cup and it was certain they won't leave the stadium in one pice if they had lost the game.
Also, its not what you can infuse into a team in 3 months. It takes more than a year of bringing in new players and passing the message to old ones that they are dispensable and not making deals with Chelsea to let Mikel off in world cup qualifiers while bleeding players like Eneramo whom you are one hundred percent certain will not make the world cup in place of Yakubu or Martins or Uche.

Its why I blame Amodu, he had enough time to build a team! He just lacked ideas on how to. Let him go and prove himself with Enyimba or 3SC or any other team and stop brandishing 90s FA Cup with BCC lions and Elkanemi. Even Okey Emordi and Kadiri Ikhana have better records

I can also argue that maybe if Australia had 'gone to watch a training match' rather than marking 'with 3 people in the box' maybe the result wouldn't have been this bad? (just saying )

Amodu built a team that played 9 games in a roll without conceding a goal scored by opposition but was vituperated for drawing with Mozambique because some morons taught the Giant of Africa should beat Mozambique by multiple goals in Maputo where the players of Moz sell guguru.

Every slowpoke in the press jumped on the bandwagon after this because as a black man he is not allowed a single error even after winning 6 straight games (home and away) without conceding a goal.

Watching Nigeria in that match was a waste of time!

For the fact that all the players were not committed to victory and sucked except for the goalkeeper, Enyeama.

If not for anything he was actually committed and alert in making sure Argentina did not score a second goal.
Re: Nigeria Vs Argentina: [0 - 1] On June 12, 2010 @ World Cup by ifele(m): 9:21pm On Jun 13, 2010
Nigeria has a chance to qualify for the next wrong but they just have to really win the next matches against Greece and Korea. Our Nigeria offensive tactics

were too weak. We need to score at least one goal against ARG. There is a problem with the team. They need to be more goal hungry.
Re: Nigeria Vs Argentina: [0 - 1] On June 12, 2010 @ World Cup by ifele(m): 9:22pm On Jun 13, 2010
the NGR vs ARG match could have been 4-0 if not for the skills of Enyeama.

So Amodu's problems are simply because he was black?  grin

Saga get real - the guy was clueless in the ANC and deserved to be sacked. Lagerbeck has taken on a very difficult task, making a team out of a motley crew of players with little form or shape, and all in a few months? Anyone would struggle, so it cannot be an accurate reflection on the coach.

That said, the players were too respectful of Argentina, and afforded them too much space.

I won't argue cos I don't even remember those games so Il let it rest.

But if you do not expect Nigeria to beat Mozambique in Maputo, how then do you expect we should have done better against an Argentine team with potentially the best players in the world on a neutral ground?

I'm sure you don't want to rate our performance against Equitorial Guinea, Sierra Leone and south Africa of 2008 as something we should boast about? (have we fallen that low?)

This has nothing to do with black man (at least from my view), I still maintain a Siasia given the time Amodu was given, would do far better than Amodu did with the team.

He struggles under the ridiculous pressure in ANC, no doubt. But how many coaches would not, if every press conference is about how they have decided you would be sacked? How you players are hopeless. You think it would not affect the way your team plays?

Did you not see Liverpool finish 7th with constant reports of the sack of Benitez?

Would you be happy at work if no matter what you do, your boss and everyone else is only looking for faults, no matter the achievements? Would you perform?

Not a valid excuse IMO - as a coach who 'built' a team, he should be able to handle that and produce performances. For crying out loud, he was in Angola, not in Lagos or Abuja getting insulted by the minute.

Would you be happy at work if no matter what you do, your boss and everyone else is only looking for faults, no matter the achievements? Would you perform?

Quality coaches overcome all that - JM was harangued by the Italian press day in day out and won to shut them up. To be criticised is not a bad thing - that is simply the life of being a coach for Nigeria.

No one should come and fool me and say it was an improvement.

Tactically I can say there were changes - Amodu just seemed to throw players on and expect them to make it up as they went along.

The same way I would expect an Inter Milan bustling with stars but yet could not beat Rubin Kazan and Dynamo Kiev but yet end up winning CL.

Or Manchester united that lost to Leeds Utd, who are 3 leagues below them.

Good teams have bad days. I wonder why Amodu is not allowed to have a bad day of drawing with Moz away with mediocre players.  undecided

He threw em on with few minutes to full time(even when the onus is on him to get goals).

The players have spoken their minds that Amodu's coaching is archaic.
