another geographical location can be created named snake island.... we have banana island before.. modified the snake wasn't aboriginal here in Nigeria.. it basically of eastern Australia.. the snake may have been cargoed into the country as a PET and it escaped from its owners..the snake according to Wikipedia is shy and can only attack when frightened or been manhandled.. it is a venomous snake that can kill within 30-45 mins of it's bites without treatment.. 1 Like |

i hate snakes!!! when they say one drop of a snake venom can kill 100 men that doesn't mean it can actually happen,a snake can only bite one person at a time. and about spitting inside water, drinking snake venom is basically harmless to humans |

This reporter can't differentiate between dangerous and venomous.if they ask you to watch wildlife you prefer watching uneducated programs like pornography and celebrity lifestyle. Taipan and Black mamba are aggressive and dangerous snake but when you talk of poisonous or venomous snakes you call snakes like Adder that even contact with the cloth you wear will shut down the working of one's heart rate. The black mamba is not even close to being called a venomous or poisonous snake. Those snakes(black mamba and taipan) can't even rival the toxins secreted by jelly fish.lol 2 Likes |

There is no way inland taipan could be in Lagos. Do you think it wld adapt to that habitat. Each snakes have its own habitat. Check the snake well. Some people just wonna trend online,no confirmation of news before bringing it to FP. More so, poisonous snakes are snakes that cannot be eaten / snakes that arn't edible(e.g boom slang,water snake,mostly green snakes,even Python,Anaconda..etc), While venomous snakes are snakes with fangs, rattle,V shaped head,cat eyed.(e.g copper head,B.mamba,cobra,timber snake,rattle snake, boomslang with dark spot, dessert brown snake, etc) Do not keep snakes as pets, eliminate them once seen in your house, at your home,POW etc. Also,do not look into their eye,that's when they will spit and once it touches the eyes it could lead to blindness. So note their differences. |

Such ignorance. He raised alarm yet didn't present a video or pictorial evidence. He said "imagine it spitting in your water supply". Snake venom is only harmful when introduced directly to the bloodstream, digestive enzymes render it harmless. If the government arrests this one for misleading the public people will cry foul not knowing he brought it on himself. 7 Likes |

What we need is a herpatologist to make a definite assessment that this is a taipan and wildlife services to find out how it got here. If it is a taipan then Lagos hospitals better stock up on its antivenom cos that snake is deadly. However, I don't think a snake "spits" in water. If they do our villagers who drink from ponds would all be dead. Snakes "inject" venom during a bite.  |
