The inland taipan is actually the world's most venomous snake. The black mamba will closer to 10th place on the list. |

For your information snake cannot just spite into water. Snakes release their venom when there is danger and it is mostly when they bite. Nice info from the op |

Its kinda mathematical when they say a single bite can kill a 100 men. If,for example,a single bite can kill a full grown elephant and an elephant is equivalant to a hundred men, that means it can actually kpain 100 ppl o! |

What a stupid post, there are no inland taipans in Nigeria, let the so called OAP prove it with a life video from Lekki.. By the way, you won't die if you ingest venom.. another myth.. These almost always need to be injected into the blood stream and thus carried round the body to be effective. If ingested, the acids and enzymes contained in both saliva and the stomach will break them down to harmless chemicals very quickly. |

The West have never and would forever despise any country with very large population. Nigerias problem since 1914 was orchestrated to distabilize our unity knowing it would make us formidable and prosperous. Do you know that all these deadly viruses like Ebola, Monkey Pox, HIV, Anthrax etc are man made by the West in their labs? These are antics designed to reduce African population. So if the Australian Inland Taipan has suddenly found its way here, I smell the hand of the west. Remember the man intercepted with crates of exotic reptiles of which included snakes in Nigeria? The West is evil and will do anything to remain dominant over others... |

Ramos16:the oap is ignorant with that spitting into spitting into tank comment.swallow venom nothin go happen..it only only acts when it gets into the blood stream..however on hunting humans yes it does not not but one bit from this specie of snake in nigeria is a death sentnce because for one the anti venom cannot be here since it was not expected to occur here in the first instance |
Re: N6: Inland Taipan Snakes Invade Lekki/Ajah In Lagos by Originalsly: 9:58am On May 29, 2018 |
Hmmm....snake spitting venom into water....really? ..ignorant guy. The person/persons who spotted the snake knew what type it was... never mind it is not a native nor a well known snake....and knowing how dangerous it is.... never raised an alarm to have it hunted and killed. If the snake is in the area. ..most likely...someone he knows smuggled the snake into the country as exotic pet... the snake has grown beyond his control and the person has released it. Now he is sounding a warning. He need to be taken in by the police and agressively questioned. |

The mamba is not the deadliest snake in the world, that should be a viper species, and the taipan is deadlier than the mamba...plus maybe it was snuck into the country by snake smugglers |

Ramos16:I immediately dismissed the post when I read the spitting into your water part...ingesting a snake’s venom orally is not harmful..only when it is intravenously injected directly into the bloodstream does it get dangerous..the hydrochloric(HCL) acid and gastric juices in the stomach neutralizes the venom before it gets assimilated into the bloodstream... 1 Like |

Kylekent59:brother it depends..burmese python isnt originally from usa but what brought to southe eastern united states through smuggling..now that snake has adapted there and is seriously snuffing life away from other small mammals inhabiting that area that it is now a cause for concern...python and anaconca are edible snakes and non poisonous |

The author of this alert is exquisitely ignorant! 1) They've just thrown out a claim that this species has invaded Lekki. No sort of evidence presented. It's highly unlikely that a shy snake, whose natural habitat is the arid wastelands of Australia, would feel comfortable in such an urbanised area like Lekki. In Australia, Inland Taipans are known to preferentially avoid trouble, and avoid human contact, so why and how would they even attempt to "invade" Lekki? Note that the image in the op was copied from the wiki page, and is not evidence of their so-called invasion. Evidence of their invasion should be provided by the official pest and disease control agency in charge of Lagos area, not a coolFM OAP. 2) The author implores readers to imagine what would happen if they spit in your drinking water. What is implied by that statement is that because their venom from a single attack can incapacitate 100 adult humans, ingesting it should lead to death. This person clearly doesn't know the difference between venom and poison. Venoms are ineffective, in so far as they don't access your blood stream. Drinking snake venom is not the same as being bitten by a snake. 3) As always, be vigilant, but there's no need to become unnecessarily hysterical over fake news. Most snakes are shy creatures who want nothing to do with humans. So don't bother them in their habitats. 1 Like |
