Menstruation is a topic that is often only said in the dark where every participant can claim anonymity, this is largely due to the myths, beliefs and taboos surrounding it which are peddled by mothers, aunties, teachers and pairs who have skewed knowledge of the occurrence.

It is against this backdrop that we at MGBG (Made Great By God) Foundation in our usual fashion of championing issues affecting children and teenagers have taken the bull by the horn and gotten the word out on menstrual hygiene. To commemorate Menstrual Hygiene Day marked on the 28th of May we organized a project tagged ‘Menstrual Hygiene’ to educate and distribute over 400 sanitary pads to young girls of Our Lady of Apostle Senior Secondary School, Ago-Tailor Odo Ona, Ibadan.

The project was a truly enlightening one for the girls who were exposed to the right knowledge and menstrual health management practices surrounding menstruation and myths surrounding it were debunked by our guest speaker, Mrs. Blessing Okareh, founder of Fortress Magazine.
Menstrual Health Management Practices:
1. Choose your method of sanitation
2. Change protection regularly to prevent infections
3. Don’t use soap or vagina hygiene product as they can have adverse effect on the vagina region
4. Wash regularly to beat bad odor from the vagina region
5. Use the right washing technique which is to wash from front to back so as to prevent transfer of bacteria from anus to vagina
6. Discard used sanitary products properly

MGBG Foundation was established by Kehinde Gbadamosi, a passionate lover of children. The foundation is charged with the goal to reach out to children and teenagers in the society by sensitizing them on salient issues ranging from education, transformations of their dreams, aspirations and passion into reality, and also lending them listening ears. We help their voices be heard and guide them into proffering real-time solutions to issues affecting their lives and society at large

Back in the 90's in secondary school, one of the missions of we boys was to find out the girl who don start menses for class. Then on this particular day one dirty Yoruba girl olabisi menstruated on her uniform. She was foolish enough to lie to us it was red ink. Trust us we haunted her with it for the rest of her days.
