VOTERS PROTEST AGAINST NON-COLLECTION OF PVCS
Some registered voters yesterday staged a peaceful protest at the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) to demand for their Permanent Voters Cards (PVCs).

TheGuardian reports that the electorate alleged that they had been visiting the office for several months without getting their PVCs.

He described it as false and one coming from aggrieved electorates who merely wish to say anything offensive in anger

One of the protesters from Oye Ekiti, Sola Akindele, who transferred his card to Ado, said: “Last week, I was here for the PVC and they asked me to come today, and I have been coming, but we can’t get the cards.

WHY FAKE VOTER CARDS WON’T WORK – INEC
The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) Monday said there is no possibility of cloned voter cards being used to cast a ballot in the next general.

The clarification came after a picture of a model of Nigeria’s permanent voter card was used in an advert by an ID card company on a Chinese e-commerce platform Alibaba.com. The advert has since been taken down.

The commission also said it has no relationship or any agreement with the company.

COURT SUMMONS ZUMA’S SON OVER FATAL CAR CRASH
A court on Tuesday summoned former South African President Jacob Zuma’s son, Duduzane, to appear on July 12 to answer homicide charges over a fatal car crash in 2014.

State prosecutors initially decided not to charge Duduzane after his Porsche 911 sports car ploughed into a minivan taxi in Johannesburg, killing one woman and seriously injuring another who later died in hospital.

The National Prosecuting Authority (NPA) reversed its decision after Duduzane’s father was ousted as head of state by the ruling African National Congress in February

BREAKING: DASUKI GRANTED N200M BAIL
Col. Sambo Dasuki, the previous National Security Adviser has been granted bail from the custody of the Department of State Services where he had been detained for two and a half years, the Federal High Court in Abuja on Monday announced.

Delivering judgment in the suit filed by the ex-NSA in March this year, Justice Ijeoma Ojukwu ruled that his detention since December 29, 2015, amounted to a violation of his right to liberty.

The judge, who rejected the ex-NSA’s prayer for N5bn damages, granted him bail in the sum of N200m with two sureties who must either be a civil servant of Grade Level 16 at the minimum in the Federal Civil Service or private citizens, who have landed properties in the municipal areas of Abuja.

FRESH NASU STRIKE THREATENS UNIVERSITIES IN NIGERIA
Barring last-minute change of mind, strong indications have emerged that the non-academic workers of the nation’s public universities are set to resume the strike they suspended in March this year.



The workers, comprising members of the Senior Staff Association of Nigerian Universities (SSANU); Non-Academic Staff Union (NASU) and the National Association of Academic Technologists (NAAT), under the Joint Action Committee (JAC) are billed to hold National Executive Council Meeting tomorrow to appraise the failure of the Federal Government to honour the contents of their agreement, more than 14 weeks after they both willingly signed.
