a lot of posts on this thread reek of intolerace and dictatorship. the truth remains that these people have been pushed to the extreme. they act out of ignorance and illiteracy which stems from the neglect they have suffered for all these years. lets call a spade a spade!

well let the niger deltans blow themselves up and clear road for the major tribers to take over the oil and move the refinery to the Igbo capital of Enugu.
We've already fought one war,now we will just apply common sense grin grin

Haba, let which Niger-deltans blow up themselves?? Babyosisi, listen to yourself o!

Anyway sha, I agree with you that they should probably think of moving the refinery to Enugu.
Am sure the Igbo people would not take the white men as hostages. They will simply negotiate all the goodies to their side & ensure they develop all their refinery-hosting communities, very well. grin

So does hostage-taking solve the problem??   undecided

They have been kidnapping foreign oil workers for a few years now & collecting the ransom money, yet they have nothing to show for all the money they have received.  angry

The few companies that want to establish communication services, or embark on some kind of development in the area, are harrassed or chased away. How will unemployment in the Delta reduce, if they keep chasing away those who wish to do business in the area, or if they keep kidnapping their workers or destroying their equipment?

One way is to attract businesses & development to the area and negotiate with the companies operating there, to ensure their lands are not polluted or that remedial measures to end such pollution are implemented. Another method would be to provide world-class infrastructure with all the ransom monies they have collected, till date. Then they would put the government to shame.

We will take no hostages lai lai, there'll be no need for that.
We will carefully and systemically but amicably turn the oil business into a shared venture.
Business is in our blood, anyman that can sell spare parts can handle common crude oil!

no. neither does intolerance. the fact remains that they are reacting the only way they know how. not necessarily the right way.
tell me something. if u had a rebellious child how would u handle him? kill him or show him love and hope that he sees reason.
