Cholesterol, a waxy, fat-like substance found in all the cells. Liver makes cholesterol, and it is also found in some foods like meat and dairy products. Human body needs cholesterol to work properly, excess cholesterol in the blood raises the risk of many diseases.

According to a new study from the University of Bergen in Norway, excess ‘bad’ fat in the blood – either LDL cholesterol or triglycerides lowers the chance of conception in women, this could leads to struggling to conceive.

Researchers examined the blood of different women that had not conceived and followed them up for the next decade. They found that an ‘unhealthy’ blood fat profile of high LDL cholesterol, triglycerides, and low levels of ‘good’ HDL cholesterol, raised the risk of only getting pregnant once.

Researchers concluded that cholesterol and other fat creates ‘oxidative stress’ in the body, which reduces fertility. Bad fats could trigger polycystic ovary syndrome.
