Please while filling the DS 160 form, is it advisable to declare having a brother In the US under relatives section or is this a red flag as some people claimed? |

lexychuks: What branch of engineering? Have you been admitted to all 3? Or are you yet to apply to any of the 3? If the latter, I'd suggest you apply to all 3that is if you have the wherewithal. Northeastern is in a prime location and is the highest ranked offense the 3, I think. Also, this prime location means connection to industry which translates to multiple career fairs and numerous job opportunities. Don't think they fund MSc students. Even some PhD students are admitted without funding, according to what I see on gradcafe. University of Illinois on the other hand is also a great school. However, living in Chicago can be expensive and I can't speak to their funding policy for MS. I do know that PhD students are regularly funded. Don't know about NYIT. Consider other schools outside these 3 of you haven't already. Good luck with your applications. 3 Likes |

uzzyj: Sorry about that. But how much was the tuition fee on your I-20? |
Re: General U.s.a (student) Visa Enquiries-part 14 by lexychuks(m): 3:07pm On Nov 20, 2018 |
MasterforceII: Thanks so much for your input. I picked these three schools because of the course I'm applying for (MSC Energy Engineering). I am yet to apply to any of them. Northeastern University seems to be the best in terms of how their representative spoke to me but it's tuition fee na die. NYIT seems to be the cheapest. In your experience, do you know of any other universities that would be better than either of these three? Thanks so much. |

Hello house, please can gurus in the house give insights on STEM and OPT options. Contributions will be appreciated from people who are already active in this area. Thanks |
Re: General U.s.a (student) Visa Enquiries-part 14 by CuteRedd(f): 4:43pm On Nov 20, 2018 |
slamcole:From the little i have researched on, if your program is a STEM program you have 2 years in addition to your 1 year OPT (i.e. 3 years in total) to work in the US thereby increasing your chances to file/a company filling for you to get a H1-B Visa(which is a work visa). For Non- STEM programs you just have 1 year OPT to work in the US and try to get a company to file/you filing for a H1-B Visa. 3 Likes |

Good evening here. Please what's the implication of not filling the education background of one's DS-160. This was due to the application not loading this section. Thanks |
Re: General U.s.a (student) Visa Enquiries-part 14 by folmus: 7:10pm On Nov 20, 2018 |
slamcole: The implication is you have to answer the question about it why it's not there when ask about it. |

I just started reading this thread page by page and the early impression is the GRE is a must to be successful at the embassy. I don't understand. I got admitted into University of North Texas, Denton health informatics program without the GRE and I am preparing for my interview. Does this mean it is not a good school? Most schools don't require GRE for their health informatics program. University of North Carolina, Charlotte said i don't need to submit a GRE score since I am a doctor and hold a terminal degree. Indiana University Purdue Indianapolis doesn't need the GRE. University of Michigan doesn't need it. Nova Southeastern university doesn't need it either. Marshall university West Virginia used to ask for GRE but recently scrapped it Although some schools like University of Wisconsin, Milwaukee makes the GRE compulsory for their health informatics program compulsory. Does it make it better than the other schools that don't need the GRE? Or does applying to any of the school i earlier mentioned makes me a lazy student? |

uzzyj:You simply denied urself by being unnecesarily persistent on being able to support yourself on a school that pays $63,417 even though u mentioned ur uncles help too. You shouldnt have even mentioned yourself in d first place. Come on bro,u are talking about paying about 26million per year, who would wanna sacrifice such money for his nephew, not even child? And I bet you had no form of assistanship...that is to say, scholarship. Your reason for denial is as clear as a mirror. 7 Likes |

Re: General U.s.a (student) Visa Enquiries-part 14 by MasterforceII: 7:52pm On Nov 20, 2018 |
lexychuks: Not my field but you can take a look at these schools to see if they have your course: University of Louisiana, Tufts University University of Oklahoma Washington University St. Louis, University of New Haven, Texas Tech. Know a couple of people both personally and non-personally that have been admitted with funding. You should also consider applying for PhD programs. It's been proven that chances of funding are greater for PhD applicants. Goodluck with your applications. #Fall2019 4 Likes |

Re: General U.s.a (student) Visa Enquiries-part 14 by MasterforceII: 7:57pm On Nov 20, 2018 |
nelronaldo: Hi. It doesn't make you a lazy student. Infact, most schools are scrapping the GRE as a requirement for graduate admissions as they feel it is not truly measure the suitability of an applicant. If the VO asks for your scores, you should state emphatically that your program did not require the exam. I don't think this should be a problem. Goodluck. 2 Likes |

I actually have one month bank statement of my sponsor which is for the month of October only and it was what i used to process my I-20. Is it okay? or i have to present more than a month bank statement to the VO? Please, help me out with clarification. |
