UK govt just increased visa fee starting from 1st April 2007:

Student Visa from 22,100 naira to 52,000 naira

6-month Visit Visa from 13,000 naira to 16,400 naira

2 years, 5 years , 10 years Visit Visa from 22,000 naira to 52,000 naira

Highly Skilled Migrant Visa from 22,000 naira to 52,000 naira

Direct Airside Transit Visas from 7,800 naira to 11,450 naira

Settlement Visa 67,600 naira , will now attract 130,000 naira.

Do u think it is fair ??. Do you think it is justified ? . Do you think Federal Govt should react to this? Do you think the UK govt excuse is tenable ? Pls contribute

I dont think its the govts business as they arent collecting the money by force, and you have the choice of not going to the UK if you consider it too expensive,

But i think moderacy should apply especially when no high commission could just increase price arbitrarily in their own soil

It does cost money to run an Embassy and Nigeria is one of the busiest posts
in the world requiring high staffing.

1. They cannot be dictated to by the Federal Government of Nigeria or by any other Government in the World!

2. If tomorrw they decide not to collect any money for visa processing, would you call on our in-considerate Government to tell the High Commission to start collecting visa fees?

Basically if you read the underlining motive behing the increase, you will note it is just a way of controlling immigrants migrating  to the UK.

I think with an increase in Visa fees, it should be deterrent to Visa applicants.
Normally the British high commssion in lagos is the busiest in the world, so thus i think they are restructuring to improve there services.
Am sure Nigerian high comission in uk too will increase its visa fees too.
