Don't call any novelist the best. you either say is interesting cos you're yet to read ten percent
of interested novels.
Any way, I dont have, since am yet to read all the interested novels.

"Best Author" depends on what interests you in a book. Note that I have read millions of books.

For me, the following authors take the lead.

Arthur Hailey - For thoroughly researched, educative and thrilling novels
Sydney Sheldon - his novels are captivating. "Sands of Time" is his best work.
Dan Brown - For controversial, radical books with religious undertones.
Buchi Emecheta - For African, feminine novels.
Enid Blyton - For Children's books
James Hardley Chase - Detective and Crime - though better suited for teenagers.
Danielle Steel - For Emotional, feminine novels
Stephen King - For horror.

I simply love novels; fiction, romance, crime etc. And i don't make comments on writers i don't know or have not read. So in my opinion, in no particular order the following writers are simply wow:

J. H. Chase ( for starters though but matured readers can still pick up to relieve stress)
Danielle Steel ( good writer)
Sidney Sheldon ( check out BLOODLINE and MASTER OF THE GAME)
John Grisham ( geez, wow, all the works for A TIME TO KILL and THE PARTNER)
Tom Clancy ( so good a writer)
Jackie Collins ( got past this stage in my high school but good all the same)
Fredick Forsyth ( if you haven't read any of his books, dnt call yourself a reader)
Jefrey Archer ( got past this stage too )
Robert Ludlum ( now, i am hooked.)
Ian Flemming
Higgins Clark ( it finishes too quickly for me but i love it anyhow)
Harold Robbins ( got past it too)
Mario Puzo ( wow wow, for matured minds- FOOLS DIE)
Mills & Booms ( read these only when i am short of what to read but my sis just love them)

Sphere ( I have to check this out, can some1 recomend which i should go for)

and all the others i can't remember on my feet just now.

And for African writers, i give it to Camara Laye, Elechi Amadi, Wole Soyinka, Fora Nwapa, Ngugi wa thiong 'o, Chinua Achebe( the master story teller), Cyprian Ekwensi ( the grand pa story teller). I must confess that i have been postponing reading Chimamanda's books 'cos i couldn't get to buy when i had the money, lol)

Gat to get back to work, guys. ciao
