shanktang: I don't want to enage in name calling and abuses. Do u mind pointing out which portion of my statement that is false? D trouble with Ribadu cheerleaders is that u cannot substantiate ur blind allegiance 2 him so anyone that differs is either Ibori's brother or blind. So open my eyes, tell me what I don't know. |

@NaijaNaWaa. Some of us may seem like Ribadu promoters but it is because we live in Nigeria or visit it often enough to know what life is like for average Nigerians. We are not idealists who want to model Nigeria on our diasporan bases when we are a hundred years away from those nations in terms of the development of individuals/institutions. We also know what the people in Nigeria are clamouring for. EVeryday they pray for the demise of the wicked leaders . They pray for a Jerry Rawlings who will wipe out those who have visited a culture of destructive corruption on Nigeria. Virtually nothing works in Nigeria because corruption is king . A patronage and anti-merit system has developed that frustrates those who want to do the right things. To that extent , the next Nigerian President should , first and foremost , be a fearless warrior since he will be at war from day 1. He will have to fight the many powerful cabals who want to keep us underdeveloped for their own gains. How many men do you know who fit that description? Why do you think most Nigerians who live in Nigeria are talking of a "bloody revolution"? Is it not because they are tired of how even the simplest things do not work well because some man/woman somewhere has decided that his interest must supercede that of millions of people? If you understand Nigeria you will know that what we need right now is someone who will bloodlessly 'clean up' so that those who will really transform Nigeria can be encouraged to come out and participate. If you read my previous posts well you will see that I have answered most of the questions you asked about Ribadu. As for your number 1 question, Ribadu convicted Tafa Balogun and Depreye Alamayeisegha through the court system. No one, not even Ribadu's enemies, can argue Waziri achievements to be anywhere near those of Ribadu. For question 2, Ribadu is progressive and I don't need to point out why. He may seem undemocratic to you but that will be because you don't understand Nigeria. Rawlings seemed undemocratic to Nigerian critics over his past actions yet it is those same critics who are now craving the "Rawlings solution" to Nigeria's woes. Please , in todays lawless Nigeria, point to one leader/institution that is democratic always. Has Fashola not had to use brute force to do what is best for Lagos given the extremely difficult people he is dealing with? Is Fashola then undemocratic within the Nigerian system where folks never abide by the law? How about the Senate , with over a hundred individuals, who fail to pass the FOI bill ? Are they democratic? My friend , right now , no one is democratic in Nigeria because it is impossible to be completely democratic. It is leaders who can , for now , find the right balance who are useful. Number 3 is vague . Tell us what Ribadu did wrong under IBB and Abacha if that is what you are getting at. Otherwise it is ridiculous to expect anyone to chronicle his role under both men. As for number 4, I think most folks know that Ribadu is now close to many pro-democracy movements like the save Nigeriaa group and the NLF. The UK-based NLF (Nigeria liberty forum) even organised some of his talks and interactive session in a clear testimony to how pro-democracy groups now recognise Ribadu's growing profile as a man who can lead Nigeria progressively. Number 8,9 and 10 are especially funny. If you know how Nigeria currently operate then you will not suggest that Kenyamo, Bakare or Soyinka can become her President. You will understand that someone has to come and pave the way for the emergence of those individuals same as a brawler like Rawlings , through removing the numerous wicked enemies of Ghana's progress, made it possible for a good guy like Kufour to become President of Ghana. Southerners who back Ribadu are not suffering from inferiority complex. They are simply detribalised Nigerians who are backing , in view of what is on the ground, a man they deem the best candidate for the Job. How do you know that Northerners do not back Ribadu ? I have not seen anti-Ribadu articles from the North so far yet I have seen many compelling IBB and Atiku to stay away from the Presidential race !!! Let us wait and see what will happen. |

@Gbawe I agree with you that whosoever will lead Nigeria successfully will have to fight and overcome some stubborn Cabals who made Corruption king in Nigeria, but my point is that If you have good intention for the country and you are not allowed to get there, let alone utilizing those Ideas, they'll definitely die there. I don't see Ribadu as a competent person to lead this country. Some people can only perform when they rely on other power to perform(Flying on other People's wing). I don't see Ribadu standing on his own to defend himself without the backing of Obasanjo. Ribadu is an incomplete entity when it comes to leadership acumen. If you say Ribadu did prosecute Tafa Balogun and others, do you want to tell me that others like Obasanjo are saint? though the way Nigeria Politics is being structured made it difficult for an emerge leader to prosecute his immediate predecessor, that's why Yaradua has nothing to say about Obasanjo's administration. If you understand the meaning of your point regarding "fighting against many powerful cabals" you will understanding that Ribadu is not very close at all. He is only good at what he did during obasanjo regime (Fighting Corruption) has he ever been tried in any other sector? u can't just reach conclusion that someone is competent just because of the popularity which was merely created by Obasanjo to cover up his own corrupt practices. Also, I don't belief that anybody that has link with Obasanjo and some of our past leaders can fulfil the role of "fighting against powerful cabal" because the cabal is stronger than him and one way or the other he forms part of the cabal because he has benefitted from it (infact brought up from that cabal) |

@Gbawe, Well done my broda. I really need to buy you a beer, you really captured the true nature of what is happening in Nigeria. The sad things is that is the reality on GROUND (as the naija man would say) Ribadu is not my favoured choice, but if I am being real, he is probably the best we have, and I believe he means well for Nigerians, enough to take the fight you and I are not prepared to engage in. I think people should stop reading this as blind support. We need the system to be clean up first before the good and the great can operate. |

jorem: I think we have an example in the man currently in power. At the beginning it seemed Jonathan was willing to bite off the finger that fed him(got him where he is today), but it seems he is not interested in doing that so we may have to continue to deal with the "cabal" a bit longer than we thought we would. |

Gbawe: Thank you. You've proved me right once again that those promoting Ribadu do not know him. Neither do they have any reason for promoting him except that they believe that they are doing the right thing for promoting him. I'll be waiting to see if anyone else can assist you (and me). And until then, Ribadu remains another ABACHA in the making. Thanks once again. |

That is one of the big problem Jonathan is facing now. I see no reason why Jonathan should go to Oyo State to commission a Project that has not even started at all, if not for the backing of Obasanjo. Imaging Akala of all Governors. That explains the reason why obasanjo support Him (GJ) to contest in 2011, despite the PDP zoning program. Also the freedom granted to Ribadu and the undeserved promotion were all enginered by Obasanjo. |

You guys truly expect a dude that couldn't handle mere Ibori to lead this nation at this time? If you think so, you have no love for Nigeria. May be in 10 years Ribadu will be strong enough to handle pressure effectively, but for now it wouldn't take much for him to run away again. Nigeria is damn too tough for him to handle; trust me, he knows better. |
