Morning friends, I have been following this thread for two days now, I congratulate the guys that have been granted visa and I pray and encourage the applicants expecting theirs. It will come out successful. Amen.

I applied for study visa via paper submission on the 10th of October, 2018 and I received a mail from Kenya on the 19th of November, 2018 concerning the Validity of my biometrics.

I have an admission for a PGD program from Algonquin College. Paid my first semester school fees. My school resumes on the 7th of January, 2019. With the way things are going, I want to ask if it's possible to do my medicals now and send to Kenya or should I keep waiting for their mail instructing me to go for medical?

I recall back in 2015, my elder brother who resides in Canada did his medical in Port Harcourt but currently on CIC website, I am only seeing two clinics in Lagos, then one in Abuja. I called the Q-Life Hospital and they said they are fully booked for this year till next year. What will happen if I get the call to go for medicals, and to say my school resumes 7th of January. God abeg ooo... Please help...

I was sending them at least an email and a web form once every weeks since my application passed the average application processing time. I honestly don’t think it hurts your application to be sending them mails.

I sent at least 4 emails and 4 web form after my upfront m medical was not acknowledged or updated on my application page, all in a space of 2 weeks.

How long did your eligibility review last that u had to do upfront medicals
Re: Canadian Student Visa Thread Part 15 by makano: 11:22am On Nov 21, 2018
It seems they have started working on June/July applications cos with the final decisions we have seen here, all are June/ July applicants. More decisions should drop before the end of the month. It shall end in praise.

It has been on background check ever since till I get a notification of update to my CIC account this morning
Re: Canadian Student Visa Thread Part 15 by makano: 11:59am On Nov 21, 2018
Ok. You just have one reason which is purpose of visit, although you can easily tackle this without ordering for ur GCMS note, but I will advise you order for it. In ur next application make sure you do everything possible to convince the VO that u are a genuine student that will come back to ur country after ur study in Canada. You failed to convince them that u are a genuine student, thats the reason for ur refusal. So order for ur GCMS note, know the actual reason for the refusal and re-fire, you will surely get ur Visa. Peace

Quite painful...however you may consider these points in your next application, should you wish to reapply.
1.) Are u a matured applicant with study gap in excess of 5years?

2.)Are u single or married?

Then u need to do a very very detailed SOP, why you choose to further your education now, why you choose to do it in Canada and not any other first nation...what benefit/value wil lthis study in Canada be offering that same study in Nigeria can not offer.

A very very strong SOP will do...goodluck

Go back to your application form (if you have a copy) and ensure you have the correct place of birth, passport no, issue and expiry date, your name (as it is on your passport. You are probably interchanging the names on the linking page. Like mistaking family name for your first name), start and end date of your program. What you put must tally else it won't link.

Oh great, please can you advise? What did you notice?

Tried again, ask not linking.

Sorry abt your delay but where did you apply from?
SetApart78:
Hi guys,

I've just received a refusal message. I applied through paper route on 21/10/2018 and I received the refusal message this morning. The reasons for my refusal are:
1. Pursuant to Section 219 of the Immigration and Refugee Protection Regulation, I am not satisfied that
you:
i. have sufficient and available financial resources, without working in Canada, to pay the tuition fees
for the course or program of studies that you intend to pursue.
2. You have not satisfied me that you would leave Canada at the end of your stay. In reaching this
decision, I considered several factors, including:
i. immigration status in country of residence.
ii. purpose of visit
iii. employment prospects in country of residence.

But my application was supported with the following documents, in relation to these refusal reasons

1. I made a part payment of $19,300 towards my tuition fees out of $25,700 for the two years Msc program and receipts attached
2. My sponsor's (father in-law) bank account statement with a closing balance of N4.5m after making the part payment
3. My account statement with a closing balance of N2.2m (Nigeria account statement)
4. My recent employment offer letters (5), both the ones I accepted and those declined. This was to show employment prospect.
5. My employment visa in country of residence.
6. My six(6) months bank statement in country of residence, and
7. Letter from my employer

These were added to other documents to support the application. I am a bit confused on what next to do in order to address the VO's concerns.
The program is starting by January and I need to reapply ASAP.

Please help.

I graduated 2008. I'm 34yrs and single.
I explained why I didn't go to western Europe for the course as the focus in Europe is always on Engineering management as against Industrial Engineering part while the course isn't available at post graduate level in Australia.
If not for the money involved, I think I should opt for Judicial Review.

the study gap is questionable if you we are to think like VOs...that is why purpose of visit was the reason for denial. You need to write a very convincing SOP to explain why you are a genuine student despite this 10years gap.

I accounted for every single day of that 10 years study gap. I don't think anything is wrong to seek another degree after 10 years especially if you have been working

Lagos2canna:

Study gap is not a barrier.

It starts to become a big barrier once you have over 5 years gap where you didn't attend school. You need a strong SOP to justify to the VO why it should be believed you really have the interest of going to school after such a long gap and not merely using study route as a way of facilitating entry to Canada.
