2019: Another Presidential Candidate Claims Army In Possession Of His Academic Credentials

Another Presidential candidate has claimed his academic credentials are with the Nigerian Military.

Accroding to the constitution, candidates for elective positions in the country are duty-bound to submit certain documents, including their academic credentials, to the Independent National Electoral Commission, (INEC).

This is coming days after President Muhammadu Buhari made similar claims while filling his party’s presidential form.

The president’s claim first came to limelight when he submitted his 2015 presidential form. Calls on the military, then, to release Buhari’s credentials fell in deaf ears and was seen as a move to frustrate the then opposition presidential candidate.

What shocked most Nigerians this week was the claim by the president that the military was still in possession of his credentials even though he is now in control of Army as the Commander-in-Chief of the armed forces.

In a recent discovery, Hamza Al-Mustapha, the presidential candidate of Peoples Party of Nigeria (PPN), has also been reported to have made similar claims while filling his own document.

Mr Al-Mustapha, a retired major general like Mr Buhari stated in his documents that the military has “refused” to release his academic certificates, despite court orders asking them to do so.

Al-Mustapha, the chief security officer to Sani Abacha, late military dictator, indicated that he attended Hausari Primary School, from 1967 to 1974; Government Secondary School, Nguru, YBS, from 1974 to 1979; and Nigeria Defence Academy, from 1980 to 1983.

“I was a victim of persecution for 15 years over deliberate trump of charges. I was, however, exonerated and freed of the wanton charges vide court of appeal ruling on 12 July, 2013,” TheCable quoted him as saying.

“My entire personal documents including my certificates and awards were taken by the then government in 1998.

“Formal complaints were registered before high court of Lagos (2000 – 2001) and federal high court, Lagos division, (2004 – 2007) but government refused to obey court orders till today.

“However, Nigeria army (my employer – 1983 – 2013) is in custody of the certificates this application is asking of.”

While the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) has advised the president to present his educational qualifications to INEC or apologize to Nigerians, NGPOLITICS reports that the electoral body has charged critics who feel the information provided by presidential candidates are wrong to seek a legal redress.

The only fool as we speak is that someone who doesn't think getting his lost credentials is easy as asking a bus conductor for change.

If armed robbers ransacked your home and carted away your credentials, will you tell your new to-be-employer that cock and bull story?

It seems you need sense not to know that one can re-apply for replacement in situations like this.

Re-apply for certificate, my brother please dont pray to lose one, the best you can do I to get a court affidavit, go back to the institution for the to acknowledge that you once have something to do with them (this can be a duplicate of your certificate which is in your file).

None of them ever claimed that they lost it rather they tell you that it is with the military, and if you happen to read carefully you will see where he said that he has written to the military over the release of his documents to him, he has equally gotten a court order compelling the military to handover his documents to him.

Then let them do as you said.....
Get a court affidavit, luckily most of them went to Government schools that still stands till today........get a duplicate and submit...
Don't forget like that guy up there told you...I don't think any would-be employer will listen to that kind of episode....

The point here is that none of them Is claiming that the have lost it, rather they are telling you that it is with the military and someone like Buhari has gotten an affidavit, and if you can go back you will see that the school he claimed to have attended in sometime 2015 realesed a duplicate copy of his result. My brother i try to balance issues while talking, i do my best to set aside emotions when arguing.

Affidavit without a 'duplicate'......
Moreover,the school didn't and can't release certificate.......
You and I know what that school released is not authenticated...anybody can print that....

the reality of the matter at hand is that it's implications go far beyond presenting the appropriate credentials to INEC.

even if PMB duly sat for the exams at the time, did he meet/make the required minimum subjects to enroll into the Nigerian Army?

I think PMB is more concerned about being exposed that he did not meet the requirements for entry into the Army which will prove beyond reasonable doubt that as far back as the 60s, some people up north were being given undue advantage & people like PMB were not qualified, ab initio, to be employed in the army...
