God's Demand And Desire For The Believer's Fruitfulness

John 15:7-8 KJV
If ye abide in me, and my words abide in you, ye shall ask what ye will, and it shall be done unto you. [8] Herein is my Father glorified, that ye bear much fruit; so shall ye be my disciples.

You are a child of God here is how to glorify the Father. We should bring forth fruit, much fruit.

John 15:9-11 KJV
As the Father hath loved me, so have I loved you: continue ye in my love. [10] If ye keep my commandments, ye shall abide in my love; even as I have kept my Father's commandments, and abide in his love. [11] These things have I spoken unto you, that my joy might remain in you, and that your joy might be full.

Once you are born again the joy of God comes into our hearts. The joy will not remain stagnant but increase and be full in Jesus' name in whaterver circumstances you find yourself, in your family, personal life and in your christian life your joy will be full.

John 15:12-14 KJV
This is my commandment, That ye love one another, as I have loved you. [13] Greater love hath no man than this, that a man lay down his life for his friends. [14] Ye are my friends, if ye do whatsoever I command you.

You cannot just say that you are a friend, follower of Christ without being obedient.

John 15:15-16 KJV
Henceforth I call you not servants; for the servant knoweth not what his lord doeth: but I have called you friends; for all things that I have heard of my Father I have made known unto you. [16] Ye have not chosen me, but I have chosen you, and ordained you, that ye should go and bring forth fruit, and that your fruit should remain: that whatsoever ye shall ask of the Father in my name, he may give it you.

The purpose He called you and brought you into the kingdom that you should go and bring forth fruit and that your fruit will abide. Your converts will come and abide in Jesus' name.

Fruitfulness in His demand physically and spiritually from the beginning. God demands fruitfulness.

Genesis 1:28 KJV
And God blessed them, and God said unto them, Be fruitful, and multiply, and replenish the earth, and subdue it: and have dominion over the fish of the sea, and over the fowl of the air, and over every living thing that moveth upon the earth.

Genesis 9:7 KJV
And you, be ye fruitful, and multiply; bring forth abundantly in the earth, and multiply therein.

Genesis 17:6 KJV
And I will make thee exceeding fruitful, and I will make nations of thee, and kings shall come out of thee.

Genesis 35:11 KJV
And God said unto him, I am God Almighty: be fruitful and multiply; a nation and a company of nations shall be of thee, and kings shall come out of thy loins;

As He calls you into the kingdom He wants you fruitful.

In your moral, righteous life He is expecting some fruit in your life.

Psalm 1:3 KJV
And he shall be like a tree planted by the rivers of water, that bringeth forth his fruit in his season; his leaf also shall not wither; and whatsoever he doeth shall prosper.

The fruit of his character and connection with the Lord.

Psalm 128:3-4 KJV
Thy wife shall be as a fruitful vine by the sides of thine house: thy children like olive plants round about thy table. [4] Behold, that thus shall the man be blessed that feareth the Lord .

Fruitfulness in the family.

Proverbs 11:30 KJV
The fruit of the righteous is a tree of life; and he that winneth souls is wise.

Natural and spiritual fruits. The wisdom of the scriptures that you study week after week makes you wise unto salvation. A believer is converted and commissioned to bear fruit in the kingdom. Fruitfulness is God's measure.

Matthew 3:7-8 KJV
But when he saw many of the Pharisees and Sadducees come to his baptism, he said unto them, O generation of vipers, who hath warned you to flee from the wrath to come? [8] Bring forth therefore fruits meet for repentance:

If you are coming out of the darkness and sins of the world He is saying that you should bring forth fruit of repentance.

Matthew 3:10 KJV
And now also the axe is laid unto the root of the trees: therefore every tree which bringeth not forth good fruit is hewn down, and cast into the fire.

God wants fruitfulness.

Matthew 7:19 KJV
Every tree that bringeth not forth good fruit is hewn down, and cast into the fire.

God's desire and demand is that we bear good fruits.

Mark 4:20 KJV
And these are they which are sown on good ground; such as hear the word, and receive it , and bring forth fruit, some thirtyfold, some sixty, and some an hundred.

Bearing fruit, more fruit and much fruit.

Luke 13:6-10 KJV
He spake also this parable; A certain man had a fig tree planted in his vineyard; and he came and sought fruit thereon, and found none. [7] Then said he unto the dresser of his vineyard, Behold, these three years I come seeking fruit on this fig tree, and find none: cut it down; why cumbereth it the ground? [8] And he answering said unto him, Lord, let it alone this year also, till I shall dig about it, and dung it : [9] And if it bear fruit, well : and if not, then after that thou shalt cut it down. [10] And he was teaching in one of the synagogues on the sabbath.

Romans 6:22 KJV
But now being made free from sin, and become servants to God, ye have your fruit unto holiness, and the end everlasting life.

Without fruits our lives, existence is not pleasing to God.

What fruits does the Lord want?

i) Repentance
ii) Regeneration
iii) Restoration/Reconciliation
iv) Righteousness/holiness
v) Revelation (In Scriptures) The more you know in the Lord
vi) Reunion
vii) Renewal/Revival
viii) Resemblance
ix) Reproduction. When you are doing the works of Christ by Christ and through Christ.

1. The Price of Treasured Fruitfulness for Christ

John 15:4, 7-10 KJV
Abide in me, and I in you. As the branch cannot bear fruit of itself, except it abide in the vine; no more can ye, except ye abide in me. [7] If ye abide in me, and my words abide in you, ye shall ask what ye will, and it shall be done unto you. [8] Herein is my Father glorified, that ye bear much fruit; so shall ye be my disciples. [9] As the Father hath loved me, so have I loved you: continue ye in my love. [10] If ye keep my commandments, ye shall abide in my love; even as I have kept my Father's commandments, and abide in his love.

We continue in Christ.

John 15:5, 10 KJV
I am the vine, ye are the branches: He that abideth in me, and I in him, the same bringeth forth much fruit: for without me ye can do nothing. [10] If ye keep my commandments, ye shall abide in my love; even as I have kept my Father's commandments, and abide in his love.

What is the price we are going to pay? It is abiding, remaining in Christ despite persecution.

1 John 2:6 KJV
He that saith he abideth in him ought himself also so to walk, even as he walked.

What will Christ do in every situation?

1 John 2:10 KJV
He that loveth his brother abideth in the light, and there is none occasion of stumbling in him.

Showing that love by acting and living in the light.

1 John 2:14 KJV
I have written unto you, fathers, because ye have known him that is from the beginning. I have written unto you, young men, because ye are strong, and the word of God abideth in you, and ye have overcome the wicked one.

We hear, digest the word and then apply the word everywhere we go.

1 John 2:15-17 KJV
Love not the world, neither the things that are in the world. If any man love the world, the love of the Father is not in him. [16] For all that is in the world, the lust of the flesh, and the lust of the eyes, and the pride of life, is not of the Father, but is of the world. [17] And the world passeth away, and the lust thereof: but he that doeth the will of God abideth for ever.

Isaiah 37:31 KJV
And the remnant that is escaped of the house of Judah shall again take root downward, and bear fruit upward:

The more the root will sink into the ground the more the branches will bring forth fruits. The deeper you go downward the higher you will go bearing fruits.

Jeremiah 17:7 KJV
Blessed is the man that trusteth in the Lord , and whose hope the Lord is.

Whatever enemies do I will overcome. I am going to trust in the Lord and that faith generates fruitfulness.

Jeremiah 17:8 KJV
For he shall be as a tree planted by the waters, and that spreadeth out her roots by the river, and shall not see when heat cometh, but her leaf shall be green; and shall not be careful in the year of drought, neither shall cease from yielding fruit.

You will keep on yielding fruit of righteousness, regeneration, revelation in Jesus' name.

There is a price to pay for the fruit we bear.

John 12:24 KJV
Verily, verily, I say unto you, Except a corn of wheat fall into the ground and die, it abideth alone: but if it die, it bringeth forth much fruit.

If you preserve your life, you can't evangelise, you can't do anything you abide alone but if you throw your life to be of benefit to other people you will save it.

John 12:25-26 KJV
He that loveth his life shall lose it; and he that hateth his life in this world shall keep it unto life eternal. [26] If any man serve me, let him follow me; and where I am, there shall also my servant be: if any man serve me, him will my Father honour.

We are married, connected to Christ and since He is not barren He is complete, there is nothing wrong with Him.

Romans 7:2-3 KJV
For the woman which hath an husband is bound by the law to her husband so long as he liveth; but if the husband be dead, she is loosed from the law of her husband. [3] So then if, while her husband liveth, she be married to another man, she shall be called an adulteress: but if her husband be dead, she is free from that law; so that she is no adulteress, though she be married to another man.

See the spiritual application.

Romans 7:4 KJV
Wherefore, my brethren, ye also are become dead to the law by the body of Christ; that ye should be married to another, even to him who is raised from the dead, that we should bring forth fruit unto God.

When you get converted you are married to Christ so that we should bring forth fruit to Christ.

Romans 7:5-6 KJV
For when we were in the flesh, the motions of sins, which were by the law, did work in our members to bring forth fruit unto death. [6] But now we are delivered from the law, that being dead wherein we were held; that we should serve in newness of spirit, and not in the oldness of the letter.

A change has taken place and now we are bearing fruit.

Galatians 5:22-24 KJV
But the fruit of the Spirit is love, joy, peace, longsuffering, gentleness, goodness, faith, [23] Meekness, temperance: against such there is no law. [24] And they that are Christ's have crucified the flesh with the affections and lusts.

Christ paid the full price to save, sanctify, baptise and equip us to be fruitful.

i) We must be willing and desirous.
ii) Abide and consecrate
iii) We want to receive and retain the heavenly vision (Evangelism)
iv) Purged, dead to the world that will sap your spiritual energy.
v) Have and keep the mind of Christ. Doing what Christ will go.
vi) Crucified and fully identified with Christ.

2. The Proof of True Fellowship With Christ

John 15:11 KJV
These things have I spoken unto you, that my joy might remain in you, and that your joy might be full.

i) There is a joy of salvation, a joy of fruit bearing.
ii) Service

John 15:12-14 KJV
This is my commandment, That ye love one another, as I have loved you. [13] Greater love hath no man than this, that a man lay down his life for his friends. [14] Ye are my friends, if ye do whatsoever I command you.

The proof of our love and fellowship with God.

Deuteronomy 13:1-3 KJV
If there arise among you a prophet, or a dreamer of dreams, and giveth thee a sign or a wonder, [2] And the sign or the wonder come to pass, whereof he spake unto thee, saying, Let us go after other gods, which thou hast not known, and let us serve them; [3] Thou shalt not hearken unto the words of that prophet, or that dreamer of dreams: for the Lord your God proveth you, to know whether ye love the Lord your God with all your heart and with all your soul.

Deuteronomy 13:4 KJV
Ye shall walk after the Lord your God, and fear him, and keep his commandments, and obey his voice, and ye shall serve him, and cleave unto him.

Deuteronomy 4:2 KJV
Ye shall not add unto the word which I command you, neither shall ye diminish ought from it, that ye may keep the commandments of the Lord your God which I command you.

Deuteronomy 30:6 KJV
And the Lord thy God will circumcise thine heart, and the heart of thy seed, to love the Lord thy God with all thine heart, and with all thy soul, that thou mayest live.

When that sanctification has taken place you will love the Lord with all your heart and soul in Jesus' name.

Deuteronomy 30:8-10, 16 KJV
And thou shalt return and obey the voice of the Lord , and do all his commandments which I command thee this day. [9] And the Lord thy God will make thee plenteous in every work of thine hand, in the fruit of thy body, and in the fruit of thy cattle, and in the fruit of thy land, for good: for the Lord will again rejoice over thee for good, as he rejoiced over thy fathers: [10] If thou shalt hearken unto the voice of the Lord thy God, to keep his commandments and his statutes which are written in this book of the law, and if thou turn unto the Lord thy God with all thine heart, and with all thy soul. [16] In that I command thee this day to love the Lord thy God, to walk in his ways, and to keep his commandments and his statutes and his judgments, that thou mayest live and multiply: and the Lord thy God shall bless thee in the land whither thou goest to possess it.

He expects that if we say that we are saved we must be obedience to His words.

Psalm 119:60 KJV
I made haste, and delayed not to keep thy commandments.

Psalm 119:115 KJV
Depart from me, ye evildoers: for I will keep the commandments of my God.

Ecclesiastes 12:13 KJV
Let us hear the conclusion of the whole matter: Fear God, and keep his commandments: for this is the whole duty of man.

Ecclesiastes 12:14 KJV
For God shall bring every work into judgment, with every secret thing, whether it be good, or whether it be evil.

The proof of true fellowship with Christ. The proof of loving Christ is living like He will live today.

John 14:15 KJV
If ye love me, keep my commandments.

Can anybody say that I love God, I love Christ without listening to Him, learning from His, living for Him, labouring for Him, leaving the world behind you and losing everything for His sake, leading souls to Him, loving only what He loves? If you say that you love the Lord prove it by whose commandment you keep, by the total committment you keep and by total submission to Him. Prove it by what you do.

Deuteronomy 8:2 KJV
And thou shalt remember all the way which the Lord thy God led thee these forty years in the wilderness, to humble thee, and to prove thee, to know what was in thine heart, whether thou wouldest keep his commandments, or no.

The proof is very important.

2 Corinthians 8:22 KJV
And we have sent with them our brother, whom we have oftentimes proved diligent in many things, but now much more diligent, upon the great confidence which I have in you.

If we say that we are converted and love the Lord prove it.

2 Corinthians 13:5 KJV
Examine yourselves, whether ye be in the faith; prove your own selves. Know ye not your own selves, how that Jesus Christ is in you, except ye be reprobates?

Prove your testimony, dedication, by the life you live.

Galatians 6:4 KJV
But let every man prove his own work, and then shall he have rejoicing in himself alone, and not in another.

I love the Lord, prove it.

1 Timothy 3:10 KJV
And let these also first be proved; then let them use the office of a deacon, being found blameless.

3. The Privilege of Trustworthy Friends of Christ.

John 15:13-16 KJV
Greater love hath no man than this, that a man lay down his life for his friends. [14] Ye are my friends, if ye do whatsoever I command you. [15] Henceforth I call you not servants; for the servant knoweth not what his lord doeth: but I have called you friends; for all things that I have heard of my Father I have made known unto you. [16] Ye have not chosen me, but I have chosen you, and ordained you, that ye should go and bring forth fruit, and that your fruit should remain: that whatsoever ye shall ask of the Father in my name, he may give it you.

i) There is no fellowship between truth and error.

ii) There is no friendship between holiness and worldliness.

iii) There is no fellowship between Christ and the antichrist.

James 2:23 KJV
And the scripture was fulfilled which saith, Abraham believed God, and it was imputed unto him for righteousness: and he was called the Friend of God.

Abraham became a friend of God after repentance.

Isaiah 41:8 KJV
But thou, Israel, art my servant, Jacob whom I have chosen, the seed of Abraham my friend.

God called Abraham friend and God is also calling you friend.

Exodus 33:11 KJV
And the Lord spake unto Moses face to face, as a man speaketh unto his friend. And he turned again into the camp: but his servant Joshua, the son of Nun, a young man, departed not out of the tabernacle.

Moses to was a friend of God.

What does it take to become a friend of God?

Proverbs 17:17 KJV
A friend loveth at all times, and a brother is born for adversity.

Proverbs 18:24 KJV
A man that hath friends must shew himself friendly: and there is a friend that sticketh closer than a brother.

In whatever situation, show yourself friendly. We are closer to Christ than to anyone else on earth.

Proverbs 22:11 KJV
He that loveth pureness of heart, for the grace of his lips the king shall be his friend.

He loves purity and hates everything that is moral death.

Proverbs 27:17 KJV
Iron sharpeneth iron; so a man sharpeneth the countenance of his friend.

As you read His word it makes you sharper.

Luke 12:4-7 KJV
And I say unto you my friends, Be not afraid of them that kill the body, and after that have no more that they can do. [5] But I will forewarn you whom ye shall fear: Fear him, which after he hath killed hath power to cast into hell; yea, I say unto you, Fear him. [6] Are not five sparrows sold for two farthings, and not one of them is forgotten before God? [7] But even the very hairs of your head are all numbered. Fear not therefore: ye are of more value than many sparrows.

You are protected and secured.

Luke 12:8-9 KJV
Also I say unto you, Whosoever shall confess me before men, him shall the Son of man also confess before the angels of God: [9] But he that denieth me before men shall be denied before the angels of God.

In the office let them know by your character, in your family and community let them know.

John 3:29-30 KJV
He that hath the bride is the bridegroom: but the friend of the bridegroom, which standeth and heareth him, rejoiceth greatly because of the bridegroom's voice: this my joy therefore is fulfilled. [30] He must increase, but I must decrease.

The language of a friend of Christ.

James 4:4 KJV
Ye adulterers and adulteresses, know ye not that the friendship of the world is enmity with God? whosoever therefore will be a friend of the world is the enemy of God.

A real friend of Christ will be totally different from the world. Are you still a friend of the world?

Are you a true friend, are you witnessing, are you obedient to the word of God, are you trustworthy?

John 15:7, 16 KJV
If ye abide in me, and my words abide in you, ye shall ask what ye will, and it shall be done unto you. [16] Ye have not chosen me, but I have chosen you, and ordained you, that ye should go and bring forth fruit, and that your fruit should remain: that whatsoever ye shall ask of the Father in my name, he may give it you.

John 14:13-15 KJV
And whatsoever ye shall ask in my name, that will I do, that the Father may be glorified in the Son. [14] If ye shall ask any thing in my name, I will do it. [15] If ye love me, keep my commandments.

John 16:23 KJV
And in that day ye shall ask me nothing. Verily, verily, I say unto you, Whatsoever ye shall ask the Father in my name, he will give it you.

1 John 3:22-24 KJV
And whatsoever we ask, we receive of him, because we keep his commandments, and do those things that are pleasing in his sight. [23] And this is his commandment, That we should believe on the name of his Son Jesus Christ, and love one another, as he gave us commandment. [24] And he that keepeth his commandments dwelleth in him, and he in him. And hereby we know that he abideth in us, by the Spirit which he hath given us.

1 John 5:14-15 KJV
And this is the confidence that we have in him, that, if we ask any thing according to his will, he heareth us: [15] And if we know that he hear us, whatsoever we ask, we know that we have the petitions that we desired of him.

Lord help me I want to bear fruits. The spring of joy will continue to flow in your heart and fill your soul, fill your family and fill your personality in Jesus' name!

Bible Study (21st January, 2019): The Ministry Of The Abiding Comforter

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=7DYBad7AcPY

Study 53 – THE MINISTRY OF THE ABIDING COMFORTER

John 16:1-11; Mark 3:13; 2:17; Luke 19:10; Matthew 13:11-12; John 6:67-69; 15:15-16,18-19; 17:14-16; Luke 9:1,2; 10:19

“But now I go my way to him that sent me; and none of you asketh me, Whither goest thou? But because I have said these things unto you, sorrow hath filled your heart” (John 16:5,6). The Lord Jesus Christ was going back to the Father in heaven having accomplished His earthly ministry, calling and purpose why He came. There He would plead, pray and talk to the Father to send the Comforter, the Holy Ghost, the Spirit of Truth to abide with His disciples forever. As He told them that he was going, they were sorrowful because the presence of Jesus had meant so much to these disciples. He had taught them repentance and they had repented, left their sins, evils and darkness, and came to Jesus Christ, the Saviour, Redeemer. They were saved and their lives transformed, they had eternal life. He had instructed them, and they had learnt the mysteries of the Kingdom; they had never heard anything like that before. That such a Master was going away, their Instructor, Teacher, the Great Miracle Worker, who had chosen them to be friends, brought them to experience the reality of God being their Father, and authorised and empowered them to do the same works that He had done while with them(John 15:15-16), they were thinking what would happen to them: That was why their hearts were filled with sorrow and pain. The pain of an Absent Christ, they couldn’t stand that. They were having secrets from heaven every day that the high priests and other religious leaders at that time did not have. They were hated by the world, Pharisees and the Scribes, but they did not care because the protective power of Christ was with them (John 15:18,19; 17:14-16). They had the mark, image, superscription and favour of heaven upon them. They were thinking if they got into danger who would pray for them like Christ; they thought of their weakness, predicament, perplexity and powerlessness and were sorrowful. He was a Friend, Captain, Lord, Master, Director and everything to them. He had given them information that they did not know as well… “Notwithstanding in this rejoice not, that the spirits are subject unto you; but rather rejoice, because your names are written in heaven” (Luke 10:20). No one could give them that kind of the information.

3 points:

POINT 1: THE DISCIPLES’ MISUNDERSTANDING OF AN ABSENT CHRIST

John 16:1-4

Christ was going away from them, and they misunderstood that to be a disadvantage for them so they were sorrowful. “These things have I spoken unto you, that ye should not be offended” (John 16:1). He was warning and revealing to them ahead of time things that would happen so they would not be disappointed and offended. The Pharisees, Scribes and the Religious people would leave their real ministry of helping the children of Israel, directing, leading them to God and reconciling the people unto God by performing the Old Testament sacrifices, and now have a new ministry of persecuting, destroying and killing the Christ’s disciples; they will be religious but will not have any reconciliation, righteousness and relationship with God. I pray that when these things happen to us we will remember all these bible studies, and the power to stand firm and focused will be in your life in Jesus Name. It would be a pity if a member, minister and worker in the church, after knowing all these things in the word of God, when persecutions, misunderstandings, slanders, oppositions, trials, temptations and troubles come, they cannot remember. You will remember.

Let us consider three areas –

Their Persecution in His Absence – John 16:1-2; Matthew 24:10-14; Luke 6:22-23,26
“Blessed are ye, when men shall hate you, and when they shall separate you from their company, and shall reproach you, and cast out your name as evil, for the Son of man’s sake” (Luke 6:22). Because you believe in the Lord Jesus Christ as your only Saviour, Lord and Redeemer, and know that all your good works and religious activities could not save; and as you put your trust, faith and confidence in Him, the people of the world will hate you, separate you from their company and family, and even throw your name out of their midst. Don’t cry or be sorrowful, rather, rejoice. When people persecute, oppose, slander and reject you, do not give in to depression, but…“Rejoice ye in that day, and leap for joy: for, behold, your reward is great in heaven: for in the like manner did their fathers unto the prophets” (Luke 6:23). This is what it takes to be a real child of God, and a follower of Jesus Christ; you are different from the world, do not dodge your convictions and beliefs. “Woe unto you, when all men shall speak well of you! for so did their fathers to the false prophets.” (Luke 6:26).

Their Perception of the Animosity – John 16:3,4; 15:18-21; Acts 13:50-52
“If the world hate you, ye know that it hated me before it hated you. If ye were of the world, the world would love his own: but because ye are not of the world, but I have chosen you out of the world, therefore the world hateth you.” (John 15:18,19). Now Jesus wanted them to have the right perception of the animosity and hatred of the world towards them. As Christians named and associated with Him, the world would do same to them as well what it did to Him. Always remember that you are not of the world, and whatever they are doing, worshipping idols, cheating, stealing, malpractices, evils, and things not of God, you will not join them. When they persecute, you will rejoice in Jesus Name. “And the disciples were filled with joy, and with the Holy Ghost” (Acts 13:52). When they rejected and expelled them they rejoiced, so when your time comes when they persecute, lie against you, reject and speak evil of you, you will not cry, regret or reconsider your Christian stand and commitment. You will stand. The time of persecution is not the time to collapse or compromise, but time to remember that this is mark and evidence that you belong to Christ.

The Pain of His Admonition – John 16:6
Jesus Christ told them that He was going to the Father in Heaven, back to His Glory, to be glorified with Father, and yet the disciples were sorrowful, why?

(i) They were selfish in their consideration; (ii) They were superficial in their love; (iii) They were shallow in their understanding; (iv) They were satisfied without Calvary and Pentecost; (v) They were short-sighted concerning His Eternal Purpose: He came for the whole world not just for Peter and the other disciples; (vi) They were scared of persecution without his physical presence; (vii) They were secured in their limitations.

If the Lord had yielded to their selfish considerations, see what could have happened: there would have been No –

(i) Gracious Calvary; (ii) Great Commission; (iii) Global Gentile Conversions

(iv) Greater and Better Covenant; (v) Guiding, Abiding Comforter; (vi) No Gospel Confirmation; and (vii) No Glorious Consummation and Coronation

This is the same thing we did in our churches then, that we sent people, strong leaders from the Lagos Headquarters out to the mission fields, and now the gospel has spread everywhere. So we are going to grow up in our understanding, and allow our leaders and members to go and preach and touch everywhere with the gospel. We are ready to go!

POINT 2: THE DISTINGUISHED MANIFESTATIONS IN HIS ADVANTAGEOUS COMING

John 16:7-8; 11:50-52; 14:28; Acts 2:33; Hebrews 9:24; John 14:16-18,26; 15:26; Luke 24:49; Acts 9:31; 4:31; 8:4-8; Hebrews 2:4

The Comforter, Spirit of Truth and Power, the Dynamite from Heaven was coming. He is the Comforter and the One that would stay by their side and help them along: And because of His advantageous coming, there would be distinguished manifestations. “Nevertheless I tell you the truth; It is expedient for you that I go away: for if I go not away, the Comforter will not come unto you; but if I depart, I will send him unto you” (John 16:7). It was expedient that Christ should go away, having died for our sins, so that the Comforter who would be with His followers for ever could come. “Nor consider that it is expedient for us, that one man should die for the people, and that the whole nation perish not” (John 11:50). Caiaphas understood that one should die for the nation, but Christ’s disciples did not. If we love Him, and the purpose of His coming to die for sinners, then we will rejoice that it was expedient for Him to go away (John 14:28). It is better and profitable for us that He has gone to be in Heaven for us. It was the going away of Christ that brought the Comforter (John 16:7). He would not leave His own comfortless (John 14:18). The coming of the Holy Ghost empowered and emboldened the disciples to preach in spite of persecution. “Therefore they that were scattered abroad went everywhere preaching the word …. And there was great joy in that city” (Acts 8:4,8). When the Holy Ghost comes into your life, He empowers, refreshes and energises you, then you will go everywhere preaching the word of God, the gospel of Christ. This is the advantage of the coming of the Comforter, the Holy Ghost. Christ having done His work at Calvary, gone away, ascended to the Father, spoken, pleaded and prayed, now we have diverse gifts and manifestations of the Holy Ghost.

POINT 3: THE DYNAMIC MINISTRY OF THE ABIDING COMFORTER

John 16:8-11

The Abiding Comforter had come and immersed and endued them with the power of the Holy Ghost. He was going to abide with them not for a year but forever, and carry out on the dynamic and heavenly ministry through them.

Three things the Holy Ghost would do:

Reprove the world of sin – John 16:8; Acts 2:36-42; 3:19,26; 26:18
The Holy Ghost energises the preacher to reprove the world of sin through their preaching. They repented of their sins and wickedness and came to the Lord.

Recall us to Righteousness – John 16:8,10; Acts 24:24,25; Romans 1:17,18; 3:10,23-25; 10:3,9,10
This is what the Holy Ghost does through the preacher calling everyone to righteousness. And to have this righteousness, you turn away from your sins, and believe on the Lord Jesus Christ that died for you on the Cross, and then he will transfer His righteousness unto you, and you will be righteous.

Remind us of the Judgement to come – John 16:8,11; Romans 2:1-5; 2 Corinthians 5:10,11,20; Hebrews 9:27; 10:26-27,38,39; Revelations 20:11-15; Luke 10:20
There is judgement at the end of life. If somebody lives a life of sin, enjoys, and refuses to come to Jesus Christ, to save, change and cleanse his life and forgive his sins, there is judgement at the end of a sinful life. If you have not repented, come to the Lord and be saved, and if you have repented, you are to continue with the Lord, not turn away and you will escape the judgement to come in Jesus Name. “For we must all appear before the judgment seat of Christ; that every one may receive the things done in his body, according to that he hath done, whether it be good or bad” (2 Corinthians 5:10). There is judgement at the end of the road of sinning. Reconciliation will bring forgiveness, freedom and liberation, and all your sins He will forgive and wipe out; He will forget them and make you live a new life in Christ Jesus. If anyone deliberately goes into sin, and wilfully rejects the word of God, then there will be judgement at the end.

“And I saw the dead, small and great, stand before God; and the books were opened: and another book was opened, which is the book of life: and the dead were judged out of those things which were written in the books, according to their works” (Revelations 20:11). Every evil thing that you do is written is that book of records, but the moment you come to the Lord Jesus Christ, and He forgives your sins, then He will take your name from those books of records, and transfer it to the Book of Life with nothing written against you. Thank God your name is there. God is going to write names in the Book of Life even tonight, and if your name is there, you will renew your covenant and consecration with the Lord, that nothing will take your name away from that Book of Life. When judgement comes, it will not be for you, and Heaven, you are going there in Jesus name.

Ponder on this! The time of persecution is not the time to collapse and compromise, but it is a time to remember that this is mark and evidence that you belong to Christ. Pastor (Dr) W.F Kumuyi.

Reflection – The Holy Ghost energises the preachers to reprove the world of sin and call everyone to righteousness through their preaching. Pastor (Dr) W.F Kumuyi.

Words on the Marble – It was the going away of Christ that brought the Comforter. Pastor (Dr) W.F Kumuyi.

The Ministry of the Abiding Comforter (PART 1)

"These things have I spoken unto you, that ye should not be offended. They shall put you out of the synagogues: yea, the time cometh, that whosoever killeth you will think that he doeth God service. And these things will they do unto you, because they have not known the Father, nor Me. But these things have I told you, that when the time shall come, ye may remember that I told you of them. And these things I said not unto you at the beginning, because I was with you. But now I go My way to Him that sent Me; and none of you asketh Me, Whither goest thou? But because I have said these things unto you, sorrow hath filled your heart. Nevertheless I tell you the truth; It is expedient for you that I go away: for if I go not away, the Comforter will not come unto you; but if I depart, I will send Him unto you. And when He is come, He will reprove the world of sin, and of righteousness, and of judgment: Of sin, because they believe not on Me; Of righteousness, because I go to My Father, and ye see Me no more; Of judgment, because the prince of this world is judged" (John 16:1-11)

Vs 5, 6 & 7

He was instructing them, they have seen the miracles before and now the instructor is saying that He is going.

Even though the world had hated them they didn't feel that hatred because of the protective love of Jesus Christ but now they were sorrowful when He said He was going away.

"And He goeth up into a mountain, and calleth unto Him whom He would: and they came unto Him" (Mark 3:13)

He called them to repentance, He called them to salvation and service and they came unto Him.

"When Jesus heard it, He saith unto them, They that are whole have no need of the physician, but they that are sick: I came not to call the righteous, but sinners to repentance" (Mark 2:17)

He called them to repentance and they responded and were saved.

"For the Son of man is come to seek and to save that which was lost" (Luke 19:10)

All these disciples were lost in sin, darkness, in society before Christ called them into the kingdom to learn of the:

What were they learning?

i) The mysteries of the Kingdom

"He answered and said unto them, Because it is given unto you to know the mysteries of the kingdom of heaven, but to them it is not given" (Matthew 13:11)

Deep things of the Kingdom was taught.

"For whosoever hath, to him shall be given, and he shall have more abundance: but whosoever hath not, from him shall be taken away even that he hath" (Matthew 13:12).

They had eternal life which religion could not give them before Christ came. They knew they were chosen, they knew it in their hearts. If you were in there condition knowing Christ was going away?

How are we going to have more if you go away?

It is not only that they repented or were saved, but they also had eternal life. They knew they were chosen, they knew it in their lives. If you were in their condition what will you feel what your fate will be?

"Then said Jesus unto the twelve, Will ye also go away? Then Simon Peter answered Him, Lord, to whom shall we go? thou hast the words of eternal life" (John 6:67-68)

We got eternal life, the very life of God, to whom shall we go?

They felt the pain of an absent Christ.

"Henceforth I call you not servants; for the servant knoweth not what his lord doeth: but I have called you friends; for all things that I have heard of My Father I have made known unto you" (John 15:15)

They were having secrets from heaven every day, things that the priests never had and things that the high priests and people in the old covenant never had.

"Ye have not chosen Me, but I have chosen you, and ordained you, that ye should go and bring forth fruit, and that your fruit should remain: that whatsoever ye shall ask of the Father in My name, He may give it you" (John 15:16)

Amen!

The world hated them they didn't care because the protective power of Christ was with them.

"If the world hate you, ye know that it hated Me before it hated you. If ye were of the world, the world would love his own: but because ye are not of the world, but I have chosen you out of the world, therefore the world hateth you" (John 15:18-19)

They knew something. What did they know?

"I have given them thy word; and the world hath hated them, because they are not of the world, even as I am not of the world" (John 17:14)

They had the mark, favour of heaven upon them because Christ was with them. The hatred of the world was nothing to them.

"I pray not that thou shouldest take them out of the world, but that thou shouldest keep them from the evil" (John 17:15)

While He was with them He was the One praying, providing for them but now that Christ said that He was going who is going to provide this? Who will be the substitute for Christ in their lives?

"They are not of the world, even as I am not of the world" (John 17:16)

"Then He called His twelve disciples together, and gave them power and authority over all devils, and to cure diseases. And He sent them to preach the kingdom of God, and to heal the sick" (Luke 9:1-2)

"Behold, I give unto you power to tread on serpents and scorpions, and over all the power of the enemy: and nothing shall by any means hurt you" (Luke 10:19)

He was a friend, He was a director, a Captain, a forerunner, a Master but then He said that He was going away. He gave them information they wouldn't have known if He hadn't told them.

"Notwithstanding in this rejoice not, that the spirits are subject unto you; but rather rejoice, because your names are written in heaven" (Luke 10:20)

Who could have told them that? That is the reason they were sad that He was going away.

"But now I go My way to Him that sent Me; and none of you asketh Me, Whither goest thou? But because I have said these things unto you, sorrow hath filled your heart" (John 16:5-6)

1. The Disciples' Misunderstanding of an Absent Christ.

"These things have I spoken unto you, that ye should not be offended" (John 16:1)

"They shall put you out of the synagogues: yea, the time cometh, that whosoever killeth you will think that he doeth God service" (John 16:2)

He was telling them ahead of time so that they would not be taken unawares.

Jesus was telling them the people were so twisted in their minds that they will leave their real ministry of reconciling people to God to be persecuting the disciples, that their persecutors would leave their real ministry of leading Israel to God and begin to kill His disciples because they had not known the Father.

Persecution, misunderstanding, trials would come to get you out of the church I pray that you will remember the power to stand firm, to stay focussed will come unto you.

i) Their persecution in His absence.

"And then shall many be offended, and shall betray one another, and shall hate one another. And many false prophets shall rise, and shall deceive many. And because iniquity shall abound, the love of many shall wax cold. But he that shall endure unto the end, the same shall be saved. And this gospel of the kingdom shall be preached in all the world for a witness unto all nations; and then shall the end come" (Matthew 24:10-14)

He said persecution will come.

"Blessed are ye, when men shall hate you, and when they shall separate you from their company, and shall reproach you, and cast out your name as evil, for the Son of man's sake" (Luke 6:22)

Because you believe that Jesus Christ is the only Saviour. As you put your faith and confidence in Him, not your religion or efforts of man.

"Rejoice ye in that day, and leap for joy: for, behold, your reward is great in heaven: for in the like manner did their fathers unto the prophets" (Luke 6:23)

I pray you will not feel lonely but rejoice and leap for joy.

"Woe unto you, when all men shall speak well of you! for so did their fathers to the false prophets" (Luke 6:26)

There are people that are looking for the world to love them, vote for them, to appreciate them, they try to look like the world to dress like the world and they try to be in the good books of the people of the world and because they want business, want people to recommend them in the world.

If you are running away for the hatred of the people, from taking an uncompromising stand, if they want to persecute you let them go ahead. Let them know that this is a real child of God.

ii) Their perception of their animosity.

"And these things will they do unto you, because they have not known the Father, nor Me. But these things have I told you, that when the time shall come, ye may remember that I told you of them. And these things I said not unto you at the beginning, because I was with you" (John 16:3-4)

Jesus wanted them to perceive the animosity of the world. You reflect the life and light of Christ.

"Herein is My Father glorified, that ye bear much fruit; so shall ye be My disciples. If the world hate you, ye know that it hated Me before it hated you" (John 15:8, 18)

"If the world hate you, ye know that it hated Me before it hated you" (John 15:18)

"If ye were of the world, the world would love his own: but because ye are not of the world, but I have chosen you out of the world, therefore the world hateth you. Remember the word that I said unto you, The servant is not greater than his lord. If they have persecuted Me, they will also persecute you; if they have kept My saying, they will keep yours also. But all these things will they do unto you for My name's sake, because they know not Him that sent Me" (John 15:19-21)

I pray that you will rejoice when that time comes in Jesus' name.

"But the Jews stirred up the devout and honourable women, and the chief men of the city, and raised persecution against Paul and Barnabas, and expelled them out of their coasts. But they shook off the dust of their feet against them, and came unto Iconium. And the disciples were filled with joy, and with the Holy Ghost" (Acts 13:50-52)

When your own time comes you will not be sobbing. I will stand. It is not a time to cry or collapse but to remember that this is the evidence that I belong to Christ.

iii) The Pain of His admonition.

"But because I have said these things unto you, sorrow hath filled your heart" (John 16:6)

Why were they sorrowful?

i) They were selfish in their consecration.

ii) They were superficial in their love. He was going to His heavenly house.

iii) They were shallow in their understanding. They didn't think about the death of Christ bringing salvation to multitudes.

iv) They were satisfied without calvary without Pentecost.

v) They were short-sighted concerning His eternal purpose. He didn't just come for Peter He came for the whole world.

vi) They were scared of persecution. If Christ goes away what is going to happen to us?

vii) They were secured in their limitation. If Jesus had yielded to their selfish pressures of Him never dying or going to the Cross there would have been no grace coming from calvary to the sinners all over the world, no Great Commission, no global Gentile conversions, no greater better covenant, no Guiding, abiding Comforter, no gospel confirmation, no glorious consummation or coronation.

The same thing happens in our local churches. Bible study leaders being sent forth to every other location but if they were sorrowful it would be because it was not from love but of selfishness. We would not be like the crying Peter but we thank God we have salvation because Jesus did not yield to pressure.

Watch out for Part 2 of this study.

2. The Distinguished Manifestation in His Advantageous Coming (PART 2)

John 16:7 KJV
Nevertheless I tell you the truth; It is expedient for you that I go away: for if I go not away, the Comforter will not come unto you; but if I depart, I will send him unto you.

Expedient that I go away.

John 11:50 KJV
Nor consider that it is expedient for us, that one man should die for the people, and that the whole nation perish not.

John 11:51 KJV
And this spake he not of himself: but being high priest that year, he prophesied that Jesus should die for that nation;

John 11:52 KJV
And not for that nation only, but that also he should gather together in one the children of God that were scattered abroad.

John 14:28 KJV
Ye have heard how I said unto you, I go away, and come again unto you. If ye loved me, ye would rejoice, because I said, I go unto the Father: for my Father is greater than I.

Acts 2:33 KJV
Therefore being by the right hand of God exalted, and having received of the Father the promise of the Holy Ghost, he hath shed forth this, which ye now see and hear.

Hebrews 9:24 KJV
For Christ is not entered into the holy places made with hands, which are the figures of the true; but into heaven itself, now to appear in the presence of God for us:

John 16:7 KJV
Nevertheless I tell you the truth; It is expedient for you that I go away: for if I go not away, the Comforter will not come unto you; but if I depart, I will send him unto you.

It is the going away of Christ that brings the Comforter. All that Jesus had done for us The Comforter will do.

John 14:16-18, 26 KJV
And I will pray the Father, and he shall give you another Comforter, that he may abide with you for ever; [17] Even the Spirit of truth; whom the world cannot receive, because it seeth him not, neither knoweth him: but ye know him; for he dwelleth with you, and shall be in you. [18] I will not leave you comfortless: I will come to you. [26] But the Comforter, which is the Holy Ghost, whom the Father will send in my name, he shall teach you all things, and bring all things to your remembrance, whatsoever I have said unto you.

That's the expediency of the coming of the Holy Ghost.

John 15:26-27 KJV
But when the Comforter is come, whom I will send unto you from the Father, even the Spirit of truth, which proceedeth from the Father, he shall testify of me: [27] And ye also shall bear witness, because ye have been with me from the beginning.

The profit of the coming of the Holy Ghost.

Luke 24:49 KJV
And, behold, I send the promise of my Father upon you: but tarry ye in the city of Jerusalem, until ye be endued with power from on high.

It will happen.

Acts 9:31 KJV
Then had the churches rest throughout all Judaea and Galilee and Samaria, and were edified; and walking in the fear of the Lord, and in the comfort of the Holy Ghost, were multiplied.

Multiplication will come.

Acts 4:31 KJV
And when they had prayed, the place was shaken where they were assembled together; and they were all filled with the Holy Ghost, and they spake the word of God with boldness.

That's the advantage of the coming of the Holy Ghost.

Acts 4:33 KJV
And with great power gave the apostles witness of the resurrection of the Lord Jesus: and great grace was upon them all.

Acts 8:4 KJV
Therefore they that were scattered abroad went every where preaching the word.

When the H.G. comes and refreshes you you will go everywhere preaching the word.

Acts 8:5-8 KJV
Then Philip went down to the city of Samaria, and preached Christ unto them. [6] And the people with one accord gave heed unto those things which Philip spake, hearing and seeing the miracles which he did. [7] For unclean spirits, crying with loud voice, came out of many that were possessed with them : and many taken with palsies, and that were lame, were healed. [8] And there was great joy in that city.

That is the expediency of the coming of the Comforter.

Hebrews 2:4 KJV
God also bearing them witness, both with signs and wonders, and with divers miracles, and gifts of the Holy Ghost, according to his own will?

Gifts of the Holy Ghost because of the coming of the Comforter.

3. The Dynamic Ministry of the Abiding Comforter. (PART 3)

He comes to them now. If they are going to be totally surrounded and filled with the H.G. and to abide with them forever.

John 16:8-11 KJV
And when he is come, he will reprove the world of sin, and of righteousness, and of judgment: [9] Of sin, because they believe not on me; [10] Of righteousness, because I go to my Father, and ye see me no more; [11] Of judgment, because the prince of this world is judged.

When the Spirit of Truth comes and energises us to preach.

i) He will reprove the world of sin

Acts 2:36-42 KJV
Therefore let all the house of Israel know assuredly, that God hath made that same Jesus, whom ye have crucified, both Lord and Christ. [37] Now when they heard this , they were pricked in their heart, and said unto Peter and to the rest of the apostles, Men and brethren, what shall we do? [38] Then Peter said unto them, Repent, and be baptized every one of you in the name of Jesus Christ for the remission of sins, and ye shall receive the gift of the Holy Ghost. [39] For the promise is unto you, and to your children, and to all that are afar off, even as many as the Lord our God shall call. [40] And with many other words did he testify and exhort, saying, Save yourselves from this untoward generation. [41] Then they that gladly received his word were baptized: and the same day there were added unto them about three thousand souls. [42] And they continued stedfastly in the apostles' doctrine and fellowship, and in breaking of bread, and in prayers.

They were reproved of their sins and they repented.

Acts 3:19, 26 KJV
Repent ye therefore, and be converted, that your sins may be blotted out, when the times of refreshing shall come from the presence of the Lord; [26] Unto you first God, having raised up his Son Jesus, sent him to bless you, in turning away every one of you from his iniquities.

Acts 26:18 KJV
To open their eyes, and to turn them from darkness to light, and from the power of Satan unto God, that they may receive forgiveness of sins, and inheritance among them which are sanctified by faith that is in me.

He energises the preachers so that the preachers will reprove the world of sin.

ii) Recall us to righteousness

John 16:10 KJV
Of righteousness, because I go to my Father, and ye see me no more;

Calling people, everyone, us to righteousness.

Acts 24:24-25 KJV
And after certain days, when Felix came with his wife Drusilla, which was a Jewess, he sent for Paul, and heard him concerning the faith in Christ. [25] And as he reasoned of righteousness, temperance, and judgment to come, Felix trembled, and answered, Go thy way for this time; when I have a convenient season, I will call for thee.

Romans 1:17-18 KJV
For therein is the righteousness of God revealed from faith to faith: as it is written, The just shall live by faith. [18] For the wrath of God is revealed from heaven against all ungodliness and unrighteousness of men, who hold the truth in unrighteousness;

Romans 3:10, 23-25 KJV
As it is written, There is none righteous, no, not one: [23] For all have sinned, and come short of the glory of God; [24] Being justified freely by his grace through the redemption that is in Christ Jesus: [25] Whom God hath set forth to be a propitiation through faith in his blood, to declare his righteousness for the remission of sins that are past, through the forbearance of God;

Romans 10:3, 9-10 KJV
For they being ignorant of God's righteousness, and going about to establish their own righteousness, have not submitted themselves unto the righteousness of God. [9] That if thou shalt confess with thy mouth the Lord Jesus, and shalt believe in thine heart that God hath raised him from the dead, thou shalt be saved. [10] For with the heart man believeth unto righteousness; and with the mouth confession is made unto salvation.

iii) Remind us of judgment to come

John 16:8, 11 KJV
And when he is come, he will reprove the world of sin, and of righteousness, and of judgment: [11] Of judgment, because the prince of this world is judged.

There is judgment at the end of life for those who refuse to repent, reject salvation now.

If you reject salvation now the end is judgment.

Romans 2:1-5 KJV
Therefore thou art inexcusable, O man, whosoever thou art that judgest: for wherein thou judgest another, thou condemnest thyself; for thou that judgest doest the same things. [2] But we are sure that the judgment of God is according to truth against them which commit such things. [3] And thinkest thou this, O man, that judgest them which do such things, and doest the same, that thou shalt escape the judgment of God? [4] Or despisest thou the riches of his goodness and forbearance and longsuffering; not knowing that the goodness of God leadeth thee to repentance? [5] But after thy hardness and impenitent heart treasurest up unto thyself wrath against the day of wrath and revelation of the righteous judgment of God;

2 Corinthians 5:10-11, 20 KJV
For we must all appear before the judgment seat of Christ; that every one may receive the things done in his body, according to that he hath done, whether it be good or bad. [11] Knowing therefore the terror of the Lord, we persuade men; but we are made manifest unto God; and I trust also are made manifest in your consciences. [20] Now then we are ambassadors for Christ, as though God did beseech you by us: we pray you in Christ's stead, be ye reconciled to God.

Reconcilliation to God will bring forgiveness.

Hebrews 9:27 KJV
And as it is appointed unto men once to die, but after this the judgment:

Hebrews 10:26-27, 38 KJV
For if we sin wilfully after that we have received the knowledge of the truth, there remaineth no more sacrifice for sins, [27] But a certain fearful looking for of judgment and fiery indignation, which shall devour the adversaries. [38] Now the just shall live by faith: but if any man draw back, my soul shall have no pleasure in him.

Hebrews 10:39 KJV
But we are not of them who draw back unto perdition; but of them that believe to the saving of the soul.

Revelation 20:11-12 KJV
And I saw a great white throne, and him that sat on it, from whose face the earth and the heaven fled away; and there was found no place for them. [12] And I saw the dead, small and great, stand before God; and the books were opened: and another book was opened, which is the book of life: and the dead were judged out of those things which were written in the books, according to their works.

Every evil thing, disobedient thing you do will be written in the book of records but if you believe Jesus and repent your name will be wiped out of the book of record and will be put in the book of life.

Revelation 20:13-15 KJV
And the sea gave up the dead which were in it; and death and hell delivered up the dead which were in them: and they were judged every man according to their works. [14] And death and hell were cast into the lake of fire. This is the second death. [15] And whosoever was not found written in the book of life was cast into the lake of fire.

Luke 10:20 KJV
Notwithstanding in this rejoice not, that the spirits are subject unto you; but rather rejoice, because your names are written in heaven.

As you renew your consecration your name will be written in heaven.

Christ's Fuller Revelation Through The Holy Spirit

John 16:12-22 KJV
I have yet many things to say unto you, but ye cannot bear them now. [13] Howbeit when he, the Spirit of truth, is come, he will guide you into all truth: for he shall not speak of himself; but whatsoever he shall hear, that shall he speak: and he will shew you things to come. [14] He shall glorify me: for he shall receive of mine, and shall shew it unto you. [15] All things that the Father hath are mine: therefore said I, that he shall take of mine, and shall shew it unto you. [16] A little while, and ye shall not see me: and again, a little while, and ye shall see me, because I go to the Father. [17] Then said some of his disciples among themselves, What is this that he saith unto us, A little while, and ye shall not see me: and again, a little while, and ye shall see me: and, Because I go to the Father? [18] They said therefore, What is this that he saith, A little while? we cannot tell what he saith. [19] Now Jesus knew that they were desirous to ask him, and said unto them, Do ye enquire among yourselves of that I said, A little while, and ye shall not see me: and again, a little while, and ye shall see me? [20] Verily, verily, I say unto you, That ye shall weep and lament, but the world shall rejoice: and ye shall be sorrowful, but your sorrow shall be turned into joy. [21] A woman when she is in travail hath sorrow, because her hour is come: but as soon as she is delivered of the child, she remembereth no more the anguish, for joy that a man is born into the world. [22] And ye now therefore have sorrow: but I will see you again, and your heart shall rejoice, and your joy no man taketh from you.

Thinking that Jesus had exhausted all His teachings Jesus revealed that He had yet many things to be taught. The coming of the Holy Spirit. They had been taught the mysteries, escatoligical kingdom to come. They already knew more than the Pharisees, OT prophets because Jesus interpreted to them all their teachings.

Matthew 13:11, 16-17, 51-52 KJV
He answered and said unto them, Because it is given unto you to know the mysteries of the kingdom of heaven, but to them it is not given. [16] But blessed are your eyes, for they see: and your ears, for they hear. [17] For verily I say unto you, That many prophets and righteous men have desired to see those things which ye see, and have not seen them ; and to hear those things which ye hear, and have not heard them. [51] Jesus saith unto them, Have ye understood all these things? They say unto him, Yea, Lord. [52] Then said he unto them, Therefore every scribe which is instructed unto the kingdom of heaven is like unto a man that is an householder, which bringeth forth out of his treasure things new and old.

Luke 10:21 KJV
In that hour Jesus rejoiced in spirit, and said, I thank thee, O Father, Lord of heaven and earth, that thou hast hid these things from the wise and prudent, and hast revealed them unto babes: even so, Father; for so it seemed good in thy sight.

God hid them from the people of rank and the wise people of the world.

Luke 10:22 KJV
All things are delivered to me of my Father: and no man knoweth who the Son is, but the Father; and who the Father is, but the Son, and he to whom the Son will reveal him.

The Lord Jesus has been revealing the nature, love of the Father to them.

Luke 10:23 KJV
And he turned him unto his disciples, and said privately, Blessed are the eyes which see the things that ye see:

We need to appreciate the revelation we are getting.

Luke 10:24 KJV
For I tell you, that many prophets and kings have desired to see those things which ye see, and have not seen them ; and to hear those things which ye hear, and have not heard them.

John 16:12-15 KJV
I have yet many things to say unto you, but ye cannot bear them now. [13] Howbeit when he, the Spirit of truth, is come, he will guide you into all truth: for he shall not speak of himself; but whatsoever he shall hear, that shall he speak: and he will shew you things to come. [14] He shall glorify me: for he shall receive of mine, and shall shew it unto you. [15] All things that the Father hath are mine: therefore said I, that he shall take of mine, and shall shew it unto you.

1. The Foundational Teaching Of The Saviour.

John 16:12 KJV
I have yet many things to say unto you, but ye cannot bear them now.

Jesus Christ is the personificatio of the Truth.

Luke 6:47-48 KJV
Whosoever cometh to me, and heareth my sayings, and doeth them, I will shew you to whom he is like: [48] He is like a man which built an house, and digged deep, and laid the foundation on a rock: and when the flood arose, the stream beat vehemently upon that house, and could not shake it: for it was founded upon a rock.

Believing on Him
All that hear that are repent and come to Jesus are building on that foundation.

Luke 6:49 KJV
But he that heareth, and doeth not, is like a man that without a foundation built an house upon the earth; against which the stream did beat vehemently, and immediately it fell; and the ruin of that house was great.

Repentance
Faith in Christ
Coming To Christ.

What are the foundational truths He taught them?

Repentance.

Luke 13:3, 5 KJV
I tell you, Nay: but, except ye repent, ye shall all likewise perish. [5] I tell you, Nay: but, except ye repent, ye shall all likewise perish.

The necessity of repentance.

Luke 13:23-27 KJV
Then said one unto him, Lord, are there few that be saved? And he said unto them, [24] Strive to enter in at the strait gate: for many, I say unto you, will seek to enter in, and shall not be able. [25] When once the master of the house is risen up, and hath shut to the door, and ye begin to stand without, and to knock at the door, saying, Lord, Lord, open unto us; and he shall answer and say unto you, I know you not whence ye are: [26] Then shall ye begin to say, We have eaten and drunk in thy presence, and thou hast taught in our streets. [27] But he shall say, I tell you, I know you not whence ye are; depart from me, all ye workers of iniquity.

There must be repentance. Have you repented? It is not enough to be coming to church.

John 3:3 KJV
Jesus answered and said unto him, Verily, verily, I say unto thee, Except a man be born again, he cannot see the kingdom of God.

Jesus taught them about the new birth.

Rejoice because your names are written in the book of life in heaven.

John 3:5 KJV
Jesus answered, Verily, verily, I say unto thee, Except a man be born of water and of the Spirit, he cannot enter into the kingdom of God.

The deposit of revelation knowledge they already had.

They turn away from their sins
They are meek and gentle and loving.

Matthew 5:3-8 KJV
Blessed are the poor in spirit: for theirs is the kingdom of heaven. [4] Blessed are they that mourn: for they shall be comforted. [5] Blessed are the meek: for they shall inherit the earth. [6] Blessed are they which do hunger and thirst after righteousness: for they shall be filled. [7] Blessed are the merciful: for they shall obtain mercy. [8] Blessed are the pure in heart: for they shall see God.

Matthew 17:1-3 KJV
And after six days Jesus taketh Peter, James, and John his brother, and bringeth them up into an high mountain apart, [2] And was transfigured before them: and his face did shine as the sun, and his raiment was white as the light. [3] And, behold, there appeared unto them Moses and Elias talking with him.

Jesus says to those who think they have seen revelations that he has yet many things to teach them.

Matthew 17:4-5 KJV
Then answered Peter, and said unto Jesus, Lord, it is good for us to be here: if thou wilt, let us make here three tabernacles; one for thee, and one for Moses, and one for Elias. [5] While he yet spake, behold, a bright cloud overshadowed them: and behold a voice out of the cloud, which said, This is my beloved Son, in whom I am well pleased; hear ye him.

Don't think you know it all He say I have many things to say.

John 8:11 KJV
She said, No man, Lord. And Jesus said unto her, Neither do I condemn thee: go, and sin no more.

Forgiveness and the grace to go and sin no more.

The fact that we are living the victorious christian life does not excuse of attending invitation to Bible study.

They lived the life of assurance Jesus still said that there are things He wants to reveal to us.

John 8:24 KJV
I said therefore unto you, that ye shall die in your sins: for if ye believe not that I am he , ye shall die in your sins.

Believing on Him is not the end of instruction.

John 8:30-32 KJV
As he spake these words, many believed on him. [31] Then said Jesus to those Jews which believed on him, If ye continue in my word, then are ye my disciples indeed; [32] And ye shall know the truth, and the truth shall make you free.

His truth will make you free as we continue with Him.

These were faithful, obedient and steadfast people.

Luke 22:28-29 KJV
Ye are they which have continued with me in my temptations. [29] And I appoint unto you a kingdom, as my Father hath appointed unto me;

John 5:24 KJV
Verily, verily, I say unto you, He that heareth my word, and believeth on him that sent me, hath everlasting life, and shall not come into condemnation; but is passed from death unto life.

John 5:28-29 KJV
Marvel not at this: for the hour is coming, in the which all that are in the graves shall hear his voice, [29] And shall come forth; they that have done good, unto the resurrection of life; and they that have done evil, unto the resurrection of damnation.

Some people once they know about some foundational truths and the bible doctrines they say they don't need to learn more.

Ask yourself, what next?

Matthew 24:21 KJV
For then shall be great tribulation, such as was not since the beginning of the world to this time, no, nor ever shall be.

There are still many things they need to know. I will not be tired of learning in Jesus' name.

2. His Fuller Truth Through The Holy Spirit.

John 14:16-17, 26 KJV
And I will pray the Father, and he shall give you another Comforter, that he may abide with you for ever; [17] Even the Spirit of truth; whom the world cannot receive, because it seeth him not, neither knoweth him: but ye know him; for he dwelleth with you, and shall be in you. [26] But the Comforter, which is the Holy Ghost, whom the Father will send in my name, he shall teach you all things, and bring all things to your remembrance, whatsoever I have said unto you.

1 Corinthians 2:9 KJV
But as it is written, Eye hath not seen, nor ear heard, neither have entered into the heart of man, the things which God hath prepared for them that love him.

Sometimes you are just blank and begin to question your faith it is the Holy Spirit that reminds us what we are to gain as believers.

1 Corinthians 2:10 KJV
But God hath revealed them unto us by his Spirit: for the Spirit searcheth all things, yea, the deep things of God.

We need to know those deep things. He Holy Ghost fills us and saturates us.

Galatians 1:4, 11-12 KJV
Who gave himself for our sins, that he might deliver us from this present evil world, according to the will of God and our Father: [11] But I certify you, brethren, that the gospel which was preached of me is not after man. [12] For I neither received it of man, neither was I taught it , but by the revelation of Jesus Christ.

Paul benefitted from the coming of the Holy Ghost.

2 Corinthians 12:7 KJV
And lest I should be exalted above measure through the abundance of the revelations, there was given to me a thorn in the flesh, the messenger of Satan to buffet me, lest I should be exalted above measure.

1 Thessalonians 4:13-18 KJV
But I would not have you to be ignorant, brethren, concerning them which are asleep, that ye sorrow not, even as others which have no hope. [14] For if we believe that Jesus died and rose again, even so them also which sleep in Jesus will God bring with him. [15] For this we say unto you by the word of the Lord, that we which are alive and remain unto the coming of the Lord shall not prevent them which are asleep. [16] For the Lord himself shall descend from heaven with a shout, with the voice of the archangel, and with the trump of God: and the dead in Christ shall rise first: [17] Then we which are alive and remain shall be caught up together with them in the clouds, to meet the Lord in the air: and so shall we ever be with the Lord. [18] Wherefore comfort one another with these words.

The details and explanation of the rapture was explained to them.

1 Thessalonians 5:1-9 KJV
But of the times and the seasons, brethren, ye have no need that I write unto you. [2] For yourselves know perfectly that the day of the Lord so cometh as a thief in the night. [3] For when they shall say, Peace and safety; then sudden destruction cometh upon them, as travail upon a woman with child; and they shall not escape. [4] But ye, brethren, are not in darkness, that that day should overtake you as a thief. [5] Ye are all the children of light, and the children of the day: we are not of the night, nor of darkness. [6] Therefore let us not sleep, as do others; but let us watch and be sober. [7] For they that sleep sleep in the night; and they that be drunken are drunken in the night. [8] But let us, who are of the day, be sober, putting on the breastplate of faith and love; and for an helmet, the hope of salvation. [9] For God hath not appointed us to wrath, but to obtain salvation by our Lord Jesus Christ,

All the details about the coming of the Lord was itemised by Paul because of the Holy Ghost.

The Things The Holy Ghost Came To Reveal Unto The Disciples.

i) The deep things of God
ii) The abundance of revelations
iii) The unsearchable riches of Christ.

Ephesians 3:8 KJV
Unto me, who am less than the least of all saints, is this grace given, that I should preach among the Gentiles the unsearchable riches of Christ;

Things we cannot find out in a dictionary, with our own minds but throough the Holy Spirit.

Ephesians 3:9-10 KJV
And to make all men see what is the fellowship of the mystery, which from the beginning of the world hath been hid in God, who created all things by Jesus Christ: [10] To the intent that now unto the principalities and powers in heavenly places might be known by the church the manifold wisdom of God,

iv) Gentile salvation without Jewish religion.

Acts 11:2-3, 12, 15 KJV
And when Peter was come up to Jerusalem, they that were of the circumcision contended with him, [3] Saying, Thou wentest in to men uncircumcised, and didst eat with them. [12] And the Spirit bade me go with them, nothing doubting. Moreover these six brethren accompanied me, and we entered into the man's house: [15] And as I began to speak, the Holy Ghost fell on them, as on us at the beginning.

v) Oneness of converted Jews and Gentiles.

Ephesians 2:14-18 KJV
For he is our peace, who hath made both one, and hath broken down the middle wall of partition between us ; [15] Having abolished in his flesh the enmity, even the law of commandments contained in ordinances; for to make in himself of twain one new man, so making peace; [16] And that he might reconcile both unto God in one body by the cross, having slain the enmity thereby: [17] And came and preached peace to you which were afar off, and to them that were nigh. [18] For through him we both have access by one Spirit unto the Father.

vi) Gentile exaltation and the Jewish blindness

Romans 11:13, 15, 25 KJV
For I speak to you Gentiles, inasmuch as I am the apostle of the Gentiles, I magnify mine office: [15] For if the casting away of them be the reconciling of the world, what shall the receiving of them be , but life from the dead? [25] For I would not, brethren, that ye should be ignorant of this mystery, lest ye should be wise in your own conceits; that blindness in part is happened to Israel, until the fulness of the Gentiles be come in.

vii) The greatest revelation, prophecy since the beginning of the world.

3. The Frustrating Thoughts Of Temporary Separation. (PART 3)

John 16:16-19 KJV
A little while, and ye shall not see me: and again, a little while, and ye shall see me, because I go to the Father.

John 7:33 KJV
Then said Jesus unto them, Yet a little while am I with you, and then I go unto him that sent me.

John 13:33 KJV
Little children, yet a little while I am with you. Ye shall seek me: and as I said unto the Jews, Whither I go, ye cannot come; so now I say to you.

John 16:4-6 KJV
But these things have I told you, that when the time shall come, ye may remember that I told you of them. And these things I said not unto you at the beginning, because I was with you. [5] But now I go my way to him that sent me; and none of you asketh me, Whither goest thou? [6] But because I have said these things unto you, sorrow hath filled your heart.

Your sorrow will be turn into joy.

John 16:20-22 KJV
Verily, verily, I say unto you, That ye shall weep and lament, but the world shall rejoice: and ye shall be sorrowful, but your sorrow shall be turned into joy.

John 20:19-22 KJV
Then the same day at evening, being the first day of the week, when the doors were shut where the disciples were assembled for fear of the Jews, came Jesus and stood in the midst, and saith unto them, Peace be unto you. [20] And when he had so said, he shewed unto them his hands and his side. Then were the disciples glad, when they saw the Lord. [21] Then said Jesus to them again, Peace be unto you: as my Father hath sent me, even so send I you. [22] And when he had said this, he breathed on them , and saith unto them, Receive ye the Holy Ghost:

Luke 24:36-41, 51-52 KJV
And as they thus spake, Jesus himself stood in the midst of them, and saith unto them, Peace be unto you. [37] But they were terrified and affrighted, and supposed that they had seen a spirit. [38] And he said unto them, Why are ye troubled? and why do thoughts arise in your hearts? [39] Behold my hands and my feet, that it is I myself: handle me, and see; for a spirit hath not flesh and bones, as ye see me have. [40] And when he had thus spoken, he shewed them his hands and his feet. [41] And while they yet believed not for joy, and wondered, he said unto them, Have ye here any meat? [51] And it came to pass, while he blessed them, he was parted from them, and carried up into heaven. [52] And they worshipped him, and returned to Jerusalem with great joy:

When it appears Christ is far away The Holy Spirit who encourages us.

1 Peter 1:3-8 KJV
Blessed be the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, which according to his abundant mercy hath begotten us again unto a lively hope by the resurrection of Jesus Christ from the dead, [4] To an inheritance incorruptible, and undefiled, and that fadeth not away, reserved in heaven for you, [5] Who are kept by the power of God through faith unto salvation ready to be revealed in the last time. [6] Wherein ye greatly rejoice, though now for a season, if need be, ye are in heaviness through manifold temptations: [7] That the trial of your faith, being much more precious than of gold that perisheth, though it be tried with fire, might be found unto praise and honour and glory at the appearing of Jesus Christ: [8] Whom having not seen, ye love; in whom, though now ye see him not, yet believing, ye rejoice with joy unspeakable and full of glory:

We will see the Lord and great shall be our joy. I will see Him.

Revelation 21:3-7 KJV
And I heard a great voice out of heaven saying, Behold, the tabernacle of God is with men, and he will dwell with them, and they shall be his people, and God himself shall be with them, and be their God. [4] And God shall wipe away all tears from their eyes; and there shall be no more death, neither sorrow, nor crying, neither shall there be any more pain: for the former things are passed away. [5] And he that sat upon the throne said, Behold, I make all things new. And he said unto me, Write: for these words are true and faithful. [6] And he said unto me, It is done. I am Alpha and Omega, the beginning and the end. I will give unto him that is athirst of the fountain of the water of life freely. [7] He that overcometh shall inherit all things; and I will be his God, and he shall be my son.

There are still many things to learn and when the Holy Ghost comes in He will reveal more things to us.

Monday Bible Study (February 04, 2019): PREPARING THE WAY FOR THE NEW KING

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=LQ7IBRKQFqo

Preparing the way of the new King (PART 1)

Mark 1:1-6 KJV
The beginning of the gospel of Jesus Christ, the Son of God; [2] As it is written in the prophets, Behold, I send my messenger before thy face, which shall prepare thy way before thee. [3] The voice of one crying in the wilderness, Prepare ye the way of the Lord, make his paths straight. [4] John did baptize in the wilderness, and preach the baptism of repentance for the remission of sins. [5] And there went out unto him all the land of Judaea, and they of Jerusalem, and were all baptized of him in the river of Jordan, confessing their sins. [6] And John was clothed with camel's hair, and with a girdle of a skin about his loins; and he did eat locusts and wild honey;

John Mark.

Peter came to the house of the mother of John Mark after his deliverance from prison.

Acts 12:25 KJV
And Barnabas and Saul returned from Jerusalem, when they had fulfilled their ministry, and took with them John, whose surname was Mark.

John Mark went with Barnabas and Saul in their first missionary journey but was discouraged and went back.

Acts 15:37-38 KJV
And Barnabas determined to take with them John, whose surname was Mark. [38] But Paul thought not good to take him with them, who departed from them from Pamphylia, and went not with them to the work.

There was a disagreement between Barnabas and Saul regarding John Mark.

Colossians 4:10 KJV
Aristarchus my fellowprisoner saluteth you, and Marcus, sister's son to Barnabas, (touching whom ye received commandments: if he come unto you, receive him)

He came back and reconciled with Paul.

2 Timothy 4:10-11 KJV
For Demas hath forsaken me, having loved this present world, and is departed unto Thessalonica; Crescens to Galatia, Titus unto Dalmatia. [11] Only Luke is with me. Take Mark, and bring him with thee: for he is profitable to me for the ministry.

1 Peter 5:13 KJV
The church that is at Babylon, elected together with you , saluteth you; and so doth Marcus my son.

He had close intimate relationship with Peter.

The difference between Matthew and Mark. Matthew began his gospel with geneology. Luke also. John did not give a human geneology. Mark started with the beginning of the gospel because he was writing to the Romans about Jesus being the King yet a servant.

Reason why Mark wrote the gospel.

Mark 10:43-45 KJV
But so shall it not be among you: but whosoever will be great among you, shall be your minister: [44] And whosoever of you will be the chiefest, shall be servant of all. [45] For even the Son of man came not to be ministered unto, but to minister, and to give his life a ransom for many.

He is Lord, Redeemer but came to serve.

Philippians 2:5-8 KJV
Let this mind be in you, which was also in Christ Jesus: [6] Who, being in the form of God, thought it not robbery to be equal with God: [7] But made himself of no reputation, and took upon him the form of a servant, and was made in the likeness of men: [8] And being found in fashion as a man, he humbled himself, and became obedient unto death, even the death of the cross.

He was writing about His servanthood and service.

1. The Purpose and the Proclamation Of Mark

Mark 1:1 KJV
The beginning of the gospel of Jesus Christ, the Son of God;

Mark 13:10 KJV
And the gospel must first be published among all nations.

Mark 16:15 KJV
And he said unto them, Go ye into all the world, and preach the gospel to every creature.

About Christ, the Son of God and the message.

Why did he write the gospel?

i) To proclaim the sonship of Christ.

Mark 1:1 KJV
The beginning of the gospel of Jesus Christ, the Son of God;

The Spirit inspired purpose of the gospel.

Psalm 2:7 KJV
I will declare the decree: the Lord hath said unto me, Thou art my Son; this day have I begotten thee.

It is is said in the OT that a Son will be presented to you. It is to declare

Luke 1:35 KJV
And the angel answered and said unto her, The Holy Ghost shall come upon thee, and the power of the Highest shall overshadow thee: therefore also that holy thing which shall be born of thee shall be called the Son of God.

He wanted to d

ii) To pronounce the seal upon Christ, the stamp of heaven upon Jesus he was presenting.

Mark 9:7 KJV
And there was a cloud that overshadowed them: and a voice came out of the cloud, saying, This is my beloved Son: hear him.

To declare the seal of approval. That this Jesus is the very beloved Son of God and that He is sealed by the Father.

John 6:27 KJV
Labour not for the meat which perisheth, but for that meat which endureth unto everlasting life, which the Son of man shall give unto you: for him hath God the Father sealed.

iii) To publish the salvation we need to reconcile us with God is found in Christ.

Mark 2:5, 10-11 KJV
When Jesus saw their faith, he said unto the sick of the palsy, Son, thy sins be forgiven thee. [10] But that ye may know that the Son of man hath power on earth to forgive sins, (he saith to the sick of the palsy,) [11] I say unto thee, Arise, and take up thy bed, and go thy way into thine house.

Acts 4:12 KJV
Neither is there salvation in any other: for there is none other name under heaven given among men, whereby we must be saved.

iv) To portray the supremacy of Christ.

He has supernatural power than any man ever lived.

Mark 4:39-41 KJV
And he arose, and rebuked the wind, and said unto the sea, Peace, be still. And the wind ceased, and there was a great calm. [40] And he said unto them, Why are ye so fearful? how is it that ye have no faith? [41] And they feared exceedingly, and said one to another, What manner of man is this, that even the wind and the sea obey him?

Mark 15:37-39 KJV
And Jesus cried with a loud voice, and gave up the ghost. [38] And the veil of the temple was rent in twain from the top to the bottom. [39] And when the centurion, which stood over against him, saw that he so cried out, and gave up the ghost, he said, Truly this man was the Son of God.

v) To prove the servanthood of Christ.

Christ manifested in a humble way to serve humanity.

Mark 10:44-45 KJV
And whosoever of you will be the chiefest, shall be servant of all. [45] For even the Son of man came not to be ministered unto, but to minister, and to give his life a ransom for many.

Philippians 2:6-8 KJV
Who, being in the form of God, thought it not robbery to be equal with God: [7] But made himself of no reputation, and took upon him the form of a servant, and was made in the likeness of men: [8] And being found in fashion as a man, he humbled himself, and became obedient unto death, even the death of the cross.

vi) To present the sacrifice of Christ.

Mark 10:45 KJV
For even the Son of man came not to be ministered unto, but to minister, and to give his life a ransom for many.

1 Corinthians 5:7 KJV
Purge out therefore the old leaven, that ye may be a new lump, as ye are unleavened. For even Christ our passover is sacrificed for us:

vii) To preview the second coming of Christ.

Today we see Him in humiliation and when we see Him again we will see Him in glorification.

Mark 13:25-26 KJV
And the stars of heaven shall fall, and the powers that are in heaven shall be shaken. [26] And then shall they see the Son of man coming in the clouds with great power and glory.

Mark 14:61-62 KJV
But he held his peace, and answered nothing. Again the high priest asked him, and said unto him, Art thou the Christ, the Son of the Blessed? [62] And Jesus said, I am: and ye shall see the Son of man sitting on the right hand of power, and coming in the clouds of heaven.

Mark 9:1-7 KJV
And he said unto them, Verily I say unto you, That there be some of them that stand here, which shall not taste of death, till they have seen the kingdom of God come with power. [2] And after six days Jesus taketh with him Peter, and James, and John, and leadeth them up into an high mountain apart by themselves: and he was transfigured before them. [3] And his raiment became shining, exceeding white as snow; so as no fuller on earth can white them. [4] And there appeared unto them Elias with Moses: and they were talking with Jesus. [5] And Peter answered and said to Jesus, Master, it is good for us to be here: and let us make three tabernacles; one for thee, and one for Moses, and one for Elias. [6] For he wist not what to say; for they were sore afraid. [7] And there was a cloud that overshadowed them: and a voice came out of the cloud, saying, This is my beloved Son: hear him.

Inspired comment of Peter.

2 Peter 1:16-17 KJV
For we have not followed cunningly devised fables, when we made known unto you the power and coming of our Lord Jesus Christ, but were eyewitnesses of his majesty. [17] For he received from God the Father honour and glory, when there came such a voice to him from the excellent glory, This is my beloved Son, in whom I am well pleased.

Mark reminded us that He will give His life a ransom for us.

2. The Prophecy And The Preparation of this messenger.

Mark 1:2-3 KJV
As it is written in the prophets, Behold, I send my messenger before thy face, which shall prepare thy way before thee. [3] The voice of one crying in the wilderness, Prepare ye the way of the Lord, make his paths straight.

Isaiah 40:3-5 KJV
The voice of him that crieth in the wilderness, Prepare ye the way of the Lord , make straight in the desert a highway for our God. [4] Every valley shall be exalted, and every mountain and hill shall be made low: and the crooked shall be made straight, and the rough places plain: [5] And the glory of the Lord shall be revealed, and all flesh shall see it together: for the mouth of the Lord hath spoken it .

Malachi 3:1 KJV
Behold, I will send my messenger, and he shall prepare the way before me: and the Lord, whom ye seek, shall suddenly come to his temple, even the messenger of the covenant, whom ye delight in: behold, he shall come, saith the Lord of hosts.

It was predicted before He came.

Matthew 3:1-3 KJV
In those days came John the Baptist, preaching in the wilderness of Judaea, [2] And saying, Repent ye: for the kingdom of heaven is at hand. [3] For this is he that was spoken of by the prophet Esaias, saying, The voice of one crying in the wilderness, Prepare ye the way of the Lord, make his paths straight.

We are told what his character, ministry and the preparatory ministry.

Luke 1:15 KJV
For he shall be great in the sight of the Lord, and shall drink neither wine nor strong drink; and he shall be filled with the Holy Ghost, even from his mother's womb.

He will have a peculiar experience.

Luke 1:16 KJV
And many of the children of Israel shall he turn to the Lord their God.

He will bring reconciliation, forgiveness and righteousness to the people of Israel.

Luke 1:17 KJV
And he shall go before him in the spirit and power of Elias, to turn the hearts of the fathers to the children, and the disobedient to the wisdom of the just; to make ready a people prepared for the Lord.

Luke 1:67, 76-79 KJV
And his father Zacharias was filled with the Holy Ghost, and prophesied, saying, [76] And thou, child, shalt be called the prophet of the Highest: for thou shalt go before the face of the Lord to prepare his ways; [77] To give knowledge of salvation unto his people by the remission of their sins, [78] Through the tender mercy of our God; whereby the dayspring from on high hath visited us, [79] To give light to them that sit in darkness and in the shadow of death, to guide our feet into the way of peace.

Luke 7:27 KJV
This is he , of whom it is written, Behold, I send my messenger before thy face, which shall prepare thy way before thee.

John the baptist's birth was not an accident it was the very plan of God.

Luke 7:28 KJV
For I say unto you, Among those that are born of women there is not a greater prophet than John the Baptist: but he that is least in the kingdom of God is greater than he.

John 3:28-30 KJV
Ye yourselves bear me witness, that I said, I am not the Christ, but that I am sent before him. [29] He that hath the bride is the bridegroom: but the friend of the bridegroom, which standeth and heareth him, rejoiceth greatly because of the bridegroom's voice: this my joy therefore is fulfilled. [30] He must increase, but I must decrease.

3. The Preaching and the persuasion in his message.

Mark 1:4-6 KJV
John did baptize in the wilderness, and preach the baptism of repentance for the remission of sins. [5] And there went out unto him all the land of Judaea, and they of Jerusalem, and were all baptized of him in the river of Jordan, confessing their sins. [6] And John was clothed with camel's hair, and with a girdle of a skin about his loins; and he did eat locusts and wild honey;

i) John's preaching.

Mark 1:5 KJV
And there went out unto him all the land of Judaea, and they of Jerusalem, and were all baptized of him in the river of Jordan, confessing their sins.

i) He preached repentance.

Matthew 3:1-2, 8 KJV
In those days came John the Baptist, preaching in the wilderness of Judaea, [2] And saying, Repent ye: for the kingdom of heaven is at hand. [8] Bring forth therefore fruits meet for repentance:

Mark 6:18 KJV
For John had said unto Herod, It is not lawful for thee to have thy brother's wife.

He preached to the great and low.

ii) He preached faith in Christ

Acts 19:4 KJV
Then said Paul, John verily baptized with the baptism of repentance, saying unto the people, that they should believe on him which should come after him, that is, on Christ Jesus.

iii) He preached salvation.

Luke 3:6 KJV
And all flesh shall see the salvation of God.

Luke 1:76-79 KJV
And thou, child, shalt be called the prophet of the Highest: for thou shalt go before the face of the Lord to prepare his ways; [77] To give knowledge of salvation unto his people by the remission of their sins, [78] Through the tender mercy of our God; whereby the dayspring from on high hath visited us, [79] To give light to them that sit in darkness and in the shadow of death, to guide our feet into the way of peace.

iv) He preached Water baptism.

John 1:31 KJV
And I knew him not: but that he should be made manifest to Israel, therefore am I come baptizing with water.

v) He preached repentance and freedom from sin.

John 1:29 KJV
The next day John seeth Jesus coming unto him, and saith, Behold the Lamb of God, which taketh away the sin of the world.

He takes both internal and external sins away by salvation and sanctification by that single sacrifice. He takes the sins of the world away.

vi) He preached baptism with Holy Ghost.

Matthew 3:12 KJV
Whose fan is in his hand, and he will throughly purge his floor, and gather his wheat into the garner; but he will burn up the chaff with unquenchable fire.

Mark 1:8 KJV
I indeed have baptized you with water: but he shall baptize you with the Holy Ghost.

Luke 3:16 KJV
John answered, saying unto them all, I indeed baptize you with water; but one mightier than I cometh, the latchet of whose shoes I am not worthy to unloose: he shall baptize you with the Holy Ghost and with fire:

John 1:33 KJV
And I knew him not: but he that sent me to baptize with water, the same said unto me, Upon whom thou shalt see the Spirit descending, and remaining on him, the same is he which baptizeth with the Holy Ghost.

vi) The sonship, exaltation, fullness of Christ. He revealed the fullness of Christ to the people.

John 3:27-34 KJV
John answered and said, A man can receive nothing, except it be given him from heaven. [28] Ye yourselves bear me witness, that I said, I am not the Christ, but that I am sent before him. [29] He that hath the bride is the bridegroom: but the friend of the bridegroom, which standeth and heareth him, rejoiceth greatly because of the bridegroom's voice: this my joy therefore is fulfilled. [30] He must increase, but I must decrease. [31] He that cometh from above is above all: he that is of the earth is earthly, and speaketh of the earth: he that cometh from heaven is above all. [32] And what he hath seen and heard, that he testifieth; and no man receiveth his testimony. [33] He that hath received his testimony hath set to his seal that God is true. [34] For he whom God hath sent speaketh the words of God: for God giveth not the Spirit by measure unto him .

Matthew 3:7-10 KJV
But when he saw many of the Pharisees and Sadducees come to his baptism, he said unto them, O generation of vipers, who hath warned you to flee from the wrath to come? [8] Bring forth therefore fruits meet for repentance: [9] And think not to say within yourselves, We have Abraham to our father: for I say unto you, that God is able of these stones to raise up children unto Abraham. [10] And now also the axe is laid unto the root of the trees: therefore every tree which bringeth not forth good fruit is hewn down, and cast into the fire.

ii) John's Persuasiveness

Mark 1:5 KJV
And there went out unto him all the land of Judaea, and they of Jerusalem, and were all baptized of him in the river of Jordan, confessing their sins.

iii) John's Personality.

Mark 1:6 KJV
And John was clothed with camel's hair, and with a girdle of a skin about his loins; and he did eat locusts and wild honey;

He lived a simple, humble life. Not exalting himself but Christ which was to come.

Mark 6:20 KJV
For Herod feared John, knowing that he was a just man and an holy, and observed him; and when he heard him, he did many things, and heard him gladly.

Matthew 11:7 KJV
And as they departed, Jesus began to say unto the multitudes concerning John, What went ye out into the wilderness to see? A reed shaken with the wind?

He was not an undecided man always shaken by the weather of the season.

Matthew 11:8-11 KJV
But what went ye out for to see? A man clothed in soft raiment? behold, they that wear soft clothing are in kings' houses. [9] But what went ye out for to see? A prophet? yea, I say unto you, and more than a prophet. [10] For this is he , of whom it is written, Behold, I send my messenger before thy face, which shall prepare thy way before thee. [11] Verily I say unto you, Among them that are born of women there hath not risen a greater than John the Baptist: notwithstanding he that is least in the kingdom of heaven is greater than he.

Because John died before Jesus came to die on the cross.

Matthew 11:12 KJV
And from the days of John the Baptist until now the kingdom of heaven suffereth violence, and the violent take it by force.

The Baptist's Introduction of the Baptiser

Mark 1:7-8 KJV
And preached, saying, There cometh one mightier than I after me, the latchet of whose shoes I am not worthy to stoop down and unloose. [8] I indeed have baptized you with water: but he shall baptize you with the Holy Ghost.

When you think about what John the baptists has said you will see his humility.

He knew His eternality of Jesus
He knew His equality with the Father
He knew of His great miracle work.
He knew of His might.
He knew of His sacrifice as the Lamb of God
He will die and be buried
His ascension to heaven
The Father has given Him authority as the final Judge, King of kings and Lord of Lords.
He is the Baptiser with the H.G.

Mark 1:8 KJV
I indeed have baptized you with water: but he shall baptize you with the Holy Ghost.

The Full statement of JTB.

Matthew 3:11 KJV
I indeed baptize you with water unto repentance: but he that cometh after me is mightier than I, whose shoes I am not worthy to bear: he shall baptize you with the Holy Ghost, and with fire:

Matthew 3:12 KJV
Whose fan is in his hand, and he will throughly purge his floor, and gather his wheat into the garner; but he will burn up the chaff with unquenchable fire.

Luke 3:16-17 KJV
John answered, saying unto them all, I indeed baptize you with water; but one mightier than I cometh, the latchet of whose shoes I am not worthy to unloose: he shall baptize you with the Holy Ghost and with fire: [17] Whose fan is in his hand, and he will throughly purge his floor, and will gather the wheat into his garner; but the chaff he will burn with fire unquenchable.

Jesus is the One that will send the Holy Ghost.

1.The Faithful recipient of the Holy Ghost.

Mark 1:8 KJV
I indeed have baptized you with water: but he shall baptize you with the Holy Ghost.

Acts 1:4-5 KJV
And, being assembled together with them , commanded them that they should not depart from Jerusalem, but wait for the promise of the Father, which, saith he , ye have heard of me. [5] For John truly baptized with water; but ye shall be baptized with the Holy Ghost not many days hence.

Jesus Christ was repeating the very same thing that JTB has said He will do.

Acts 1:8 KJV
But ye shall receive power, after that the Holy Ghost is come upon you: and ye shall be witnesses unto me both in Jerusalem, and in all Judaea, and in Samaria, and unto the uttermost part of the earth.

And ye shall receive Power. It is only then will you be witnesses.

Acts 2:1-4, 15-18, 33 KJV
And when the day of Pentecost was fully come, they were all with one accord in one place. [2] And suddenly there came a sound from heaven as of a rushing mighty wind, and it filled all the house where they were sitting. [3] And there appeared unto them cloven tongues like as of fire, and it sat upon each of them. [4] And they were all filled with the Holy Ghost, and began to speak with other tongues, as the Spirit gave them utterance. [15] For these are not drunken, as ye suppose, seeing it is but the third hour of the day. [16] But this is that which was spoken by the prophet Joel; [17] And it shall come to pass in the last days, saith God, I will pour out of my Spirit upon all flesh: and your sons and your daughters shall prophesy, and your young men shall see visions, and your old men shall dream dreams: [18] And on my servants and on my handmaidens I will pour out in those days of my Spirit; and they shall prophesy: [33] Therefore being by the right hand of God exalted, and having received of the Father the promise of the Holy Ghost, he hath shed forth this, which ye now see and hear.

About Paul the Apostle.

Acts 9:9-11 KJV
And he was three days without sight, and neither did eat nor drink. [10] And there was a certain disciple at Damascus, named Ananias; and to him said the Lord in a vision, Ananias. And he said, Behold, I am here , Lord. [11] And the Lord said unto him, Arise, and go into the street which is called Straight, and enquire in the house of Judas for one called Saul, of Tarsus: for, behold, he prayeth,

Acts 10:44-47 KJV
While Peter yet spake these words, the Holy Ghost fell on all them which heard the word. [45] And they of the circumcision which believed were astonished, as many as came with Peter, because that on the Gentiles also was poured out the gift of the Holy Ghost. [46] For they heard them speak with tongues, and magnify God. Then answered Peter, [47] Can any man forbid water, that these should not be baptized, which have received the Holy Ghost as well as we?

Mark 1:8 KJV
I indeed have baptized you with water: but he shall baptize you with the Holy Ghost.

Bible Study ( March 04, 2019): Christ's Power to Deliver and Cleanse the Unclean.

Christ's Power To Deliver And Cleanse The Unclean

Mark 1:21-28 KJV
And they went into Capernaum; and straightway on the sabbath day he entered into the synagogue, and taught. [22] And they were astonished at his doctrine: for he taught them as one that had authority, and not as the scribes. [23] And there was in their synagogue a man with an unclean spirit; and he cried out, [24] Saying, Let us alone; what have we to do with thee, thou Jesus of Nazareth? art thou come to destroy us? I know thee who thou art, the Holy One of God. [25] And Jesus rebuked him, saying, Hold thy peace, and come out of him. [26] And when the unclean spirit had torn him, and cried with a loud voice, he came out of him. [27] And they were all amazed, insomuch that they questioned among themselves, saying, What thing is this? what new doctrine is this? for with authority commandeth he even the unclean spirits, and they do obey him. [28] And immediately his fame spread abroad throughout all the region round about Galilee.

We have seen here the demonstration of the ministry of our Lord Jesus Christ. He is the same today, yesterday and for ever. If you have any challenge the word of Christ will solve the problem in Jesus' name.

Christ has the power to deliver everyone. He delivers from every challenge, problems trying to crush our lives.

He has the power to cleanse us from every defilement, sin, that tries to defile our lives.

Christ power is for you, your family and everyone. The Lord will deliver and cleanse.

He will forgive and set you free.

1. His Convicting Preaching of the Unchangeable Scriptures.

He is the Word personified. He knew the Bible because He was the originator. He preached with authority and anointing. He is still Christ the Shepherd.

You will find one word that comes up in vs 21 and 22.

Mark 1:21-22 KJV
And they went into Capernaum; and straightway on the sabbath day he entered into the synagogue, and taught. [22] And they were astonished at his doctrine: for he taught them as one that had authority, and not as the scribes.

He taught. He opened, expounded, preached and taught the scriptures.

What did He preach, what did He emphasis?

Matthew 4:13 KJV
And leaving Nazareth, he came and dwelt in Capernaum, which is upon the sea coast, in the borders of Zabulon and Nephthalim:

His preaching was the fulfillment of prophecy. He preached purposely, authoritatively.

Matthew 4:14-16 KJV
That it might be fulfilled which was spoken by Esaias the prophet, saying, [15] The land of Zabulon, and the land of Nephthalim, by the way of the sea, beyond Jordan, Galilee of the Gentiles; [16] The people which sat in darkness saw great light; and to them which sat in the region and shadow of death light is sprung up.

He came to enlighten them, to open their eyes, to sweep away the darkness of error and superstition. So that all the death they feared will be put away and be put to a stop in our lives.

What did He preach?

Matthew 4:17 KJV
From that time Jesus began to preach, and to say, Repent: for the kingdom of heaven is at hand.

He opens the door of the kingdom to them so that they could repent.

He came to preach the scriptures

Matthew 5:17-18 KJV
Think not that I am come to destroy the law, or the prophets: I am not come to destroy, but to fulfil. [18] For verily I say unto you, Till heaven and earth pass, one jot or one tittle shall in no wise pass from the law, till all be fulfilled.

There is nothing that you read in the scriptures that is useless.

Matthew 5:19 KJV
Whosoever therefore shall break one of these least commandments, and shall teach men so, he shall be called the least in the kingdom of heaven: but whosoever shall do and teach them , the same shall be called great in the kingdom of heaven.

He was talking about the kingdom of God and how to enter. That tradition, superstition, formal life will hinder people from entering.

Matthew 5:20 KJV
For I say unto you, That except your righteousness shall exceed the righteousness of the scribes and Pharisees, ye shall in no case enter into the kingdom of heaven.

He didn't just gloss over the scriptures. He said that it is the righteousness, the inward, evangelical, practical, purposeful, that comes from Christ Himself that will qualify us.

He will preach according to the word that is unchanging.

Matthew 6:1 KJV
Take heed that ye do not your alms before men, to be seen of them: otherwise ye have no reward of your Father which is in heaven.

He said if nobody sees what you are doing will you do what you do now? You don't do anything to be appreciated of men.

Matthew 6:2, 19 KJV
Therefore when thou doest thine alms, do not sound a trumpet before thee, as the hypocrites do in the synagogues and in the streets, that they may have glory of men. Verily I say unto you, They have their reward. [19] Lay not up for yourselves treasures upon earth, where moth and rust doth corrupt, and where thieves break through and steal:

Think, plan for heaven. He was always talking, preaching about heaven. He preached in such a way that if you were to die you will make heaven.

Matthew 6:21, 24 KJV
For where your treasure is, there will your heart be also. [24] No man can serve two masters: for either he will hate the one, and love the other; or else he will hold to the one, and despise the other. Ye cannot serve God and mammon.

What Jesus preached and taught.

Matthew 7:24 KJV
Therefore whosoever heareth these sayings of mine, and doeth them, I will liken him unto a wise man, which built his house upon a rock:

If there is something to repent of, to make right we do them.

Matthew 7:25 KJV
And the rain descended, and the floods came, and the winds blew, and beat upon that house; and it fell not: for it was founded upon a rock.

Your spiritual house will not fall or collapse. Jesus will give you the two sides of the coin. Do it like Jesus did it.

Matthew 7:26-27 KJV
And every one that heareth these sayings of mine, and doeth them not, shall be likened unto a foolish man, which built his house upon the sand: [27] And the rain descended, and the floods came, and the winds blew, and beat upon that house; and it fell: and great was the fall of it.

Matthew 7:28-29 KJV
And it came to pass, when Jesus had ended these sayings, the people were astonished at his doctrine: [29] For he taught them as one having authority, and not as the scribes.

What He taught.

Matthew 13:34-35 KJV
All these things spake Jesus unto the multitude in parables; and without a parable spake he not unto them: [35] That it might be fulfilled which was spoken by the prophet, saying, I will open my mouth in parables; I will utter things which have been kept secret from the foundation of the world.

He uttered mysteries. He told us what to do to have eternal life.

John 7:45-46 KJV
Then came the officers to the chief priests and Pharisees; and they said unto them, Why have ye not brought him? [46] The officers answered, Never man spake like this man.

He was talking eternal life, being born again about righteousness.

John 6:59 KJV
These things said he in the synagogue, as he taught in Capernaum.

Jesus' purpose was to awake them to the way to the kingdom.

John 6:60 KJV
Many therefore of his disciples, when they had heard this , said, This is an hard saying; who can hear it?

It wasn't what they were expecting to hear.

John 6:66 KJV
From that time many of his disciples went back, and walked no more with him.

They went back because He didn't affirm what they had already known or believed. Thank God I will not go back.

Here is what they were hearing before they came to Christ:

Mark 7:7 KJV
Howbeit in vain do they worship me, teaching for doctrines the commandments of men.

They were teaching the commandments of men.

Mark 7:8 KJV
For laying aside the commandment of God, ye hold the tradition of men, as the washing of pots and cups: and many other such like things ye do.

Jesus Christ will not repeat the principles, proverbs and precepts of men.

Mark 7:9, 13 KJV
And he said unto them, Full well ye reject the commandment of God, that ye may keep your own tradition. [13] Making the word of God of none effect through your tradition, which ye have delivered: and many such like things do ye.

What has Christ come to do?

Luke 13:22-23 KJV
And he went through the cities and villages, teaching, and journeying toward Jerusalem. [23] Then said one unto him, Lord, are there few that be saved? And he said unto them,

Nobody will follow the outward righteousness and get to heaven.

Luke 13:24 KJV
Strive to enter in at the strait gate: for many, I say unto you, will seek to enter in, and shall not be able.

If Christ came back to the world today this is what He will be preaching.

Luke 13:25-26 KJV
When once the master of the house is risen up, and hath shut to the door, and ye begin to stand without, and to knock at the door, saying, Lord, Lord, open unto us; and he shall answer and say unto you, I know you not whence ye are: [26] Then shall ye begin to say, We have eaten and drunk in thy presence, and thou hast taught in our streets.

They didn't repent, believe when He taught them to repent and believe.

Luke 13:27-29 KJV
But he shall say, I tell you, I know you not whence ye are; depart from me, all ye workers of iniquity. [28] There shall be weeping and gnashing of teeth, when ye shall see Abraham, and Isaac, and Jacob, and all the prophets, in the kingdom of God, and you yourselves thrust out. [29] And they shall come from the east, and from the west, and from the north, and from the south, and shall sit down in the kingdom of God.

I will be there.

He preached from the scriptures with authority to make people get heaven.

Matthew 22:16 KJV
And they sent out unto him their disciples with the Herodians, saying, Master, we know that thou art true, and teachest the way of God in truth, neither carest thou for any man : for thou regardest not the person of men.

He never preached any falsehood, cut corners.

He didn't teach the way of society or religion

He wasn't looking at the faces of the people. He was not looking for their favour, position or authority in society. He came to tell them the truth so that they can get to heaven.

And there was in their synagogue a man with an unclean spirit; and he cried out, [24] Saying, Let us alone; what have we to do with thee, thou Jesus of Nazareth? art thou come to destroy us? I know thee who thou art, the Holy One of God.

Even the evil spirits knew who Jesus was. They believed in the final judgment unlike some people who don't believe. I pray as you believe in Jesus Christ you will go beyond what the demons believed (That Jesus is the Christ, in the Judgment to come, that Jesus is the sinless One, the Holy One of God).

Mark 1:25 KJV
And Jesus rebuked him, saying, Hold thy peace, and come out of him.

The evil spirits obeyed Christ's command. I pray that the evil spirits will not go beyond you, that they will not obey beyond you and that they will not be silent beyond you in Jesus' name.

Mark 1:26 KJV
And when the unclean spirit had torn him, and cried with a loud voice, he came out of him.

Christ has the power to cast out every unclean spirit.

I believe that Jesus is the Son of God. The evil spirits were not trying to make people believe something, they were just repeating their knowledge of what they knew in heaven before they were cast out. I will get to heaven because I believe Jesus is the Son of God.

Mark 3:11-12 KJV
And unclean spirits, when they saw him, fell down before him, and cried, saying, Thou art the Son of God. [12] And he straitly charged them that they should not make him known.

Whatever the evil expressed, operated Jesus will conquer them and they will not bother you again in your life.

Mark 7:25-27 KJV
For a certain woman, whose young daughter had an unclean spirit, heard of him, and came and fell at his feet: [26] The woman was a Greek, a Syrophenician by nation; and she besought him that he would cast forth the devil out of her daughter. [27] But Jesus said unto her, Let the children first be filled: for it is not meet to take the children's bread, and to cast it unto the dogs.

The children of God are the first beneficiaries.

Mark 7:28 KJV
And she answered and said unto him, Yes, Lord: yet the dogs under the table eat of the children's crumbs.

Whatever He preaches, corrects, principles He brings out say "Yes Lord"

Mark 7:29 KJV
And he said unto her, For this saying go thy way; the devil is gone out of thy daughter.

That messenger of death has gone out of your family.

Luke 4:32-35 KJV
And they were astonished at his doctrine: for his word was with power. [33] And in the synagogue there was a man, which had a spirit of an unclean devil, and cried out with a loud voice, [34] Saying, Let us alone; what have we to do with thee, thou Jesus of Nazareth? art thou come to destroy us? I know thee who thou art; the Holy One of God. [35] And Jesus rebuked him, saying, Hold thy peace, and come out of him. And when the devil had thrown him in the midst, he came out of him, and hurt him not.

Jesus will rebuke every negative power in your life and they will come out.

Luke 4:36 KJV
And they were all amazed, and spake among themselves, saying, What a word is this! for with authority and power he commandeth the unclean spirits, and they come out.

Luke 6:17-19 KJV
And he came down with them, and stood in the plain, and the company of his disciples, and a great multitude of people out of all Judaea and Jerusalem, and from the sea coast of Tyre and Sidon, which came to hear him, and to be healed of their diseases; [18] And they that were vexed with unclean spirits: and they were healed. [19] And the whole multitude sought to touch him: for there went virtue out of him, and healed them all.

Acts 5:12-16 KJV
And by the hands of the apostles were many signs and wonders wrought among the people; (and they were all with one accord in Solomon's porch. [13] And of the rest durst no man join himself to them: but the people magnified them. [14] And believers were the more added to the Lord, multitudes both of men and women.) [15] Insomuch that they brought forth the sick into the streets, and laid them on beds and couches, that at the least the shadow of Peter passing by might overshadow some of them. [16] There came also a multitude out of the cities round about unto Jerusalem, bringing sick folks, and them which were vexed with unclean spirits: and they were healed every one.

What the power of the shadow of Peter falling on them did was to heal everyone of them.

Whatever the evil spirits say will not suck you in.

Zechariah 13:2 KJV
And it shall come to pass in that day, saith the Lord of hosts, that I will cut off the names of the idols out of the land, and they shall no more be remembered: and also I will cause the prophets and the unclean spirit to pass out of the land.

God forbid that they deposit evil spirits into your life.

Acts 16:16-17 KJV
And it came to pass, as we went to prayer, a certain damsel possessed with a spirit of divination met us, which brought her masters much gain by soothsaying: [17] The same followed Paul and us, and cried, saying, These men are the servants of the most high God, which shew unto us the way of salvation.

Evil spirits can say something that appears true but they are still the spirit of divination.

Acts 16:18 KJV
And this did she many days. But Paul, being grieved, turned and said to the spirit, I command thee in the name of Jesus Christ to come out of her. And he came out the same hour.

If you don't have spiritual eyes you might not see or understand and thus subject yourself to charlatans.

Revelation 16:13-14 KJV
And I saw three unclean spirits like frogs come out of the mouth of the dragon, and out of the mouth of the beast, and out of the mouth of the false prophet. [14] For they are the spirits of devils, working miracles, which go forth unto the kings of the earth and of the whole world, to gather them to the battle of that great day of God Almighty.

If they can get you to follow after their master satan they will do it. They sometimes try to do miracles.

Revelation 16:14 KJV
For they are the spirits of devils, working miracles, which go forth unto the kings of the earth and of the whole world, to gather them to the battle of that great day of God Almighty.

I pray they will not have a place in your heart.

Matthew 12:43 KJV
When the unclean spirit is gone out of a man, he walketh through dry places, seeking rest, and findeth none.

I pray the word, grace Spirit and love of God will be in your heart otherwise the evil spirits reoccupy it.

Matthew 12:44-45 KJV
Then he saith, I will return into my house from whence I came out; and when he is come, he findeth it empty, swept, and garnished. [45] Then goeth he, and taketh with himself seven other spirits more wicked than himself, and they enter in and dwell there: and the last state of that man is worse than the first. Even so shall it be also unto this wicked generation.

3. His Current Purging And Cleansing From Uncountable Sins

Mark 1:27-28 KJV
And they were all amazed, insomuch that they questioned among themselves, saying, What thing is this? what new doctrine is this? for with authority commandeth he even the unclean spirits, and they do obey him. [28] And immediately his fame spread abroad throughout all the region round about Galilee.

Unclean spirits will cause unclean language, habits or lifestyles. Jesus has power to cleanse and purge us from uncountable sins.

Psalm 40:12 KJV
For innumerable evils have compassed me about: mine iniquities have taken hold upon me, so that I am not able to look up; they are more than the hairs of mine head: therefore my heart faileth me.

Psalm 19:12-13 KJV
Who can understand his errors? cleanse thou me from secret faults . [13] Keep back thy servant also from presumptuous sins ; let them not have dominion over me: then shall I be upright, and I shall be innocent from the great transgression.

They will no more have dominion over you.

Psalm 51:2 KJV
Wash me throughly from mine iniquity, and cleanse me from my sin.

He knew he could not do it himself but he was appealing to the Lord to do it for him.

Psalm 51:7 KJV
Purge me with hyssop, and I shall be clean: wash me, and I shall be whiter than snow.

Psalm 65:2-3 KJV
O thou that hearest prayer, unto thee shall all flesh come. [3] Iniquities prevail against me: as for our transgressions, thou shalt purge them away.

He is the One that grants us the cleansing and purging.

Psalm 65:4-5 KJV
Blessed is the man whom thou choosest, and causest to approach unto thee, that he may dwell in thy courts: we shall be satisfied with the goodness of thy house, even of thy holy temple. [5] By terrible things in righteousness wilt thou answer us, O God of our salvation; who art the confidence of all the ends of the earth, and of them that are afar off upon the sea:

Everyone far or near the Lord will purge.

Hebrews 1:3 KJV
Who being the brightness of his glory, and the express image of his person, and upholding all things by the word of his power, when he had by himself purged our sins, sat down on the right hand of the Majesty on high;

Hebrews 9:14-15, 22 KJV
How much more shall the blood of Christ, who through the eternal Spirit offered himself without spot to God, purge your conscience from dead works to serve the living God? [15] And for this cause he is the mediator of the new testament, that by means of death, for the redemption of the transgressions that were under the first testament, they which are called might receive the promise of eternal inheritance. [22] And almost all things are by the law purged with blood; and without shedding of blood is no remission.

It is through that shedding of blood at calvary that He washes away all our sins and takes away all our condemnation.

Ezekiel 36:25 KJV
Then will I sprinkle clean water upon you, and ye shall be clean: from all your filthiness, and from all your idols, will I cleanse you.

He will cleanse you from every defilement in Jesus' name.

Ezekiel 36:26-27 KJV
A new heart also will I give you, and a new spirit will I put within you: and I will take away the stony heart out of your flesh, and I will give you an heart of flesh. [27] And I will put my spirit within you, and cause you to walk in my statutes, and ye shall keep my judgments, and do them .

Amen.

Isaiah 6:5-7 KJV
Then said I, Woe is me! for I am undone; because I am a man of unclean lips, and I dwell in the midst of a people of unclean lips: for mine eyes have seen the King, the Lord of hosts. [6] Then flew one of the seraphims unto me, having a live coal in his hand, which he had taken with the tongs from off the altar: [7] And he laid it upon my mouth, and said, Lo, this hath touched thy lips; and thine iniquity is taken away, and thy sin purged.

He will cleanse your mouth, tongue and language. As you present yourself before the Lord and He will purge you.

2 Corinthians 7:1 KJV
Having therefore these promises, dearly beloved, let us cleanse ourselves from all filthiness of the flesh and spirit, perfecting holiness in the fear of God.

Ephesians 5:25-26 KJV
Husbands, love your wives, even as Christ also loved the church, and gave himself for it; [26] That he might sanctify and cleanse it with the washing of water by the word,

To cleanse our souls, thoughts, minds, hearts, spirits, habits because that's why He died, why He shed His blood.

Ephesians 5:27 KJV
That he might present it to himself a glorious church, not having spot, or wrinkle, or any such thing; but that it should be holy and without blemish.

You will be holy and without blemish because He will purify and cleanse everyone of us.

1 John 1:7, 9 KJV
But if we walk in the light, as he is in the light, we have fellowship one with another, and the blood of Jesus Christ his Son cleanseth us from all sin. [9] If we confess our sins, he is faithful and just to forgive us our sins, and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness.

We still need more of the cleansing and purging in our lives. He will do it for us as we talk to the Lord in prayer.

The Responsive Ministries of the Beneficiaries of Christ's Healing.

Mark 1:29-39 KJV
And forthwith, when they were come out of the synagogue, they entered into the house of Simon and Andrew, with James and John. [30] But Simon's wife's mother lay sick of a fever, and anon they tell him of her. [31] And he came and took her by the hand, and lifted her up; and immediately the fever left her, and she ministered unto them. [32] And at even, when the sun did set, they brought unto him all that were diseased, and them that were possessed with devils. [33] And all the city was gathered together at the door. [34] And he healed many that were sick of divers diseases, and cast out many devils; and suffered not the devils to speak, because they knew him. [35] And in the morning, rising up a great while before day, he went out, and departed into a solitary place, and there prayed. [36] And Simon and they that were with him followed after him. [37] And when they had found him, they said unto him, All men seek for thee. [38] And he said unto them, Let us go into the next towns, that I may preach there also: for therefore came I forth. [39] And he preached in their synagogues throughout all Galilee, and cast out devils.

1. Personal Ministry to Christ in Peter's Home

Mark 1:29-31 KJV
And forthwith, when they were come out of the synagogue, they entered into the house of Simon and Andrew, with James and John. [30] But Simon's wife's mother lay sick of a fever, and anon they tell him of her. [31] And he came and took her by the hand, and lifted her up; and immediately the fever left her, and she ministered unto them.

Matthew 8:14-15 KJV
And when Jesus was come into Peter's house, he saw his wife's mother laid, and sick of a fever. [15] And he touched her hand, and the fever left her: and she arose, and ministered unto them.

The touch of Jesus will transform your life.

Luke 4:38-39 KJV
And he arose out of the synagogue, and entered into Simon's house. And Simon's wife's mother was taken with a great fever; and they besought him for her. [39] And he stood over her, and rebuked the fever; and it left her: and immediately she arose and ministered unto them.

There are times when the sick do not have the ability to call upon the Lord and at that time we should help them.

The way you stand in authority will tell whether people will trust you.

You cannot rebuke an inanimate object you can only rebuke a spirit, personality behind a sickness. Whatever is behind your problem, mountain will leave.

Was that the only case of fever that Jesus dealt with?

John 4:46-50 KJV
So Jesus came again into Cana of Galilee, where he made the water wine. And there was a certain nobleman, whose son was sick at Capernaum. [47] When he heard that Jesus was come out of Judaea into Galilee, he went unto him, and besought him that he would come down, and heal his son: for he was at the point of death. [48] Then said Jesus unto him, Except ye see signs and wonders, ye will not believe. [49] The nobleman saith unto him, Sir, come down ere my child die. [50] Jesus saith unto him, Go thy way; thy son liveth. And the man believed the word that Jesus had spoken unto him, and he went his way.

Go home your problems are solved.

John 4:51 KJV
And as he was now going down, his servants met him, and told him , saying, Thy son liveth.

Your testimony will match the teachings of the word of God in Jesus' name.

John 4:52-53 KJV
Then enquired he of them the hour when he began to amend. And they said unto him, Yesterday at the seventh hour the fever left him. [53] So the father knew that it was at the same hour, in the which Jesus said unto him, Thy son liveth: and himself believed, and his whole house.

The whole house believe on Him.

i) The astonishing ministry of Christ.
ii) The appreciative ministry of Christ.

When Christ has done something for you you have to show your appreciation.

Luke 8:1-3 KJV
And it came to pass afterward, that he went throughout every city and village, preaching and shewing the glad tidings of the kingdom of God: and the twelve were with him, [2] And certain women, which had been healed of evil spirits and infirmities, Mary called Magdalene, out of whom went seven devils, [3] And Joanna the wife of Chuza Herod's steward, and Susanna, and many others, which ministered unto him of their substance.

Acts 28:8 KJV
And it came to pass, that the father of Publius lay sick of a fever and of a bloody flux: to whom Paul entered in, and prayed, and laid his hands on him, and healed him.

At the time of Christ when people had fever He healed them.

This was after Christ has gone to heaven.

Acts 28:9 KJV
So when this was done, others also, which had diseases in the island, came, and were healed:

They showed their appreciation.

Acts 28:10 KJV
Who also honoured us with many honours; and when we departed, they laded us with such things as were necessary.

iii) Angels' ministry to Christ

Matthew 4:11 KJV
Then the devil leaveth him, and, behold, angels came and ministered unto him.

Men, women and angels ministered to Christ.

Luke 22:41-45 KJV
And he was withdrawn from them about a stone's cast, and kneeled down, and prayed, [42] Saying, Father, if thou be willing, remove this cup from me: nevertheless not my will, but thine, be done. [43] And there appeared an angel unto him from heaven, strengthening him. [44] And being in an agony he prayed more earnestly: and his sweat was as it were great drops of blood falling down to the ground. [45] And when he rose up from prayer, and was come to his disciples, he found them sleeping for sorrow,

When men and women don't minister to you angels will come and minister to you. When you lack the help, assistance and encouragement, angels will come and minister to you.

Hebrews 1:13-14 KJV
But to which of the angels said he at any time, Sit on my right hand, until I make thine enemies thy footstool? [14] Are they not all ministering spirits, sent forth to minister for them who shall be heirs of salvation?

You might not see them you will experience their empowerment through their ministration.

2. The Powerful Manifestation by Christ of the Promised Healing

Mark 1:32-34 KJV
And at even, when the sun did set, they brought unto him all that were diseased, and them that were possessed with devils. [33] And all the city was gathered together at the door. [34] And he healed many that were sick of divers diseases, and cast out many devils; and suffered not the devils to speak, because they knew him.

Matthew 8:16-17 KJV
When the even was come, they brought unto him many that were possessed with devils: and he cast out the spirits with his word, and healed all that were sick: [17] That it might be fulfilled which was spoken by Esaias the prophet, saying, Himself took our infirmities, and bare our sicknesses.

i) The Prophecy of Healing. The

Isaiah 53:4-5 KJV
Surely he hath borne our griefs, and carried our sorrows: yet we did esteem him stricken, smitten of God, and afflicted. [5] But he was wounded for our transgressions, he was bruised for our iniquities: the chastisement of our peace was upon him; and with his stripes we are healed.

After Christ went to heaven this prophecy is still being fulfilled.

1 Peter 2:21-24 KJV
For even hereunto were ye called: because Christ also suffered for us, leaving us an example, that ye should follow his steps: [22] Who did no sin, neither was guile found in his mouth: [23] Who, when he was reviled, reviled not again; when he suffered, he threatened not; but committed himself to him that judgeth righteously: [24] Who his own self bare our sins in his own body on the tree, that we, being dead to sins, should live unto righteousness: by whose stripes ye were healed.

ii) The Power for healing

Acts 10:38 KJV
How God anointed Jesus of Nazareth with the Holy Ghost and with power: who went about doing good, and healing all that were oppressed of the devil; for God was with him.

He will heal you.

Matthew 15:30-31 KJV
And great multitudes came unto him, having with them those that were lame, blind, dumb, maimed, and many others, and cast them down at Jesus' feet; and he healed them: [31] Insomuch that the multitude wondered, when they saw the dumb to speak, the maimed to be whole, the lame to walk, and the blind to see: and they glorified the God of Israel.

Look at the power.

Luke 5:15 KJV
But so much the more went there a fame abroad of him: and great multitudes came together to hear, and to be healed by him of their infirmities.

i) They came to hear the word of God that brings transformation
ii) To be healed of their infirmities.

Luke 5:17 KJV
And it came to pass on a certain day, as he was teaching, that there were Pharisees and doctors of the law sitting by, which were come out of every town of Galilee, and Judaea, and Jerusalem: and the power of the Lord was present to heal them.

iii) The Plurality of Healing

Many times when we hear about the healing power of Christ we think that it does not apply to us.

Luke 4:18 KJV
The Spirit of the Lord is upon me, because he hath anointed me to preach the gospel to the poor; he hath sent me to heal the brokenhearted, to preach deliverance to the captives, and recovering of sight to the blind, to set at liberty them that are bruised,

When something has happened that has broken your heart. When you are bruised by the hand of the enemy the Lord will set you at liberty.

Psalm 41:4 KJV
I said, Lord , be merciful unto me: heal my soul; for I have sinned against thee.

If the soul is having a kind of burden that nobody can lift up the Lord will heal your soul.

Psalm 147:3 KJV
He healeth the broken in heart, and bindeth up their wounds.

Psalm 147:4-5 KJV
He telleth the number of the stars; he calleth them all by their names. [5] Great is our Lord, and of great power: his understanding is infinite.

Amen.

Proverbs 4:20-22 KJV
My son, attend to my words; incline thine ear unto my sayings. [21] Let them not depart from thine eyes; keep them in the midst of thine heart. [22] For they are life unto those that find them, and health to all their flesh.

It is health to the flesh.

Jeremiah 3:22 KJV
Return, ye backsliding children, and I will heal your backslidings. Behold, we come unto thee; for thou art the Lord our God.

He heals our backslidings.

3. The Practical Model of Christ in Progressive Harvesting

Mark 1:35-39 KJV
And in the morning, rising up a great while before day, he went out, and departed into a solitary place, and there prayed.

He was harvesting the souls into the Kingdom. You will go to the next level in your family, profession, spiritual life.

i) The prayer model of the Master.

Mark 1:35 KJV
And in the morning, rising up a great while before day, he went out, and departed into a solitary place, and there prayed.

We need to spend time in prayer in the period of the day when there will be no disturbance.

Psalm 5:3 KJV
My voice shalt thou hear in the morning, O Lord ; in the morning will I direct my prayer unto thee, and will look up.

Before you face the challenges of the day take time to pray.

Luke 6:12-13 KJV
And it came to pass in those days, that he went out into a mountain to pray, and continued all night in prayer to God. [13] And when it was day, he called unto him his disciples: and of them he chose twelve, whom also he named apostles;

When you are taking a great decision, anytime you want to make an important decision.

Luke 18:1 KJV
And he spake a parable unto them to this end , that men ought always to pray, and not to faint;

Many crossroads, unresolved problems men ought always to pray.

Luke 18:2-5 KJV
Saying, There was in a city a judge, which feared not God, neither regarded man: [3] And there was a widow in that city; and she came unto him, saying, Avenge me of mine adversary. [4] And he would not for a while: but afterward he said within himself, Though I fear not God, nor regard man; [5] Yet because this widow troubleth me, I will avenge her, lest by her continual coming she weary me.

We must pray continually, the Lord wants to see how persistent you are if you have not got the answer.

Luke 18:6-8 KJV
And the Lord said, Hear what the unjust judge saith. [7] And shall not God avenge his own elect, which cry day and night unto him, though he bear long with them? [8] I tell you that he will avenge them speedily. Nevertheless when the Son of man cometh, shall he find faith on the earth?

He will find in me in Jesus' name. Don't give up on that problem.

Philippians 4:6 KJV
Be careful for nothing; but in every thing by prayer and supplication with thanksgiving let your requests be made known unto God.

No more murmuring, regrets only prayer.

Philippians 4:7 KJV
And the peace of God, which passeth all understanding, shall keep your hearts and minds through Christ Jesus.

Once you have prayed nothing will happen that will destroy the project of your life in Jesus' name.

Philippians 4:8 KJV
Finally, brethren, whatsoever things are true, whatsoever things are honest, whatsoever things are just, whatsoever things are pure, whatsoever things are lovely, whatsoever things are of good report; if there be any virtue, and if there be any praise, think on these things.

Don't think on your problems, threatenings of the world.

Philippians 4:9 KJV
Those things, which ye have both learned, and received, and heard, and seen in me, do: and the God of peace shall be with you.

ii) The Purposeful moves of the Master

Mark 1:36-38 KJV
And Simon and they that were with him followed after him. [37] And when they had found him, they said unto him, All men seek for thee. [38] And he said unto them, Let us go into the next towns, that I may preach there also: for therefore came I forth.

You will move on and not be stagnant in Jesus' name.

Luke 4:42-43 KJV
And when it was day, he departed and went into a desert place: and the people sought him, and came unto him, and stayed him, that he should not depart from them. [43] And he said unto them, I must preach the kingdom of God to other cities also: for therefore am I sent.

You must know why you are sent and I pray that you will not forget in Jesus' name.

1 Timothy 2:3-4 KJV
For this is good and acceptable in the sight of God our Saviour; [4] Who will have all men to be saved, and to come unto the knowledge of the truth.

All those people were not in the same local city and that is why we must move on to have all men to be saved.

2 Peter 3:9 KJV
The Lord is not slack concerning his promise, as some men count slackness; but is longsuffering to us-ward, not willing that any should perish, but that all should come to repentance.

Going to another place purposefully so that others can have an opportunity to repent.

iii) The practical mandate from the Master

Mark 1:39, 45 KJV
And he preached in their synagogues throughout all Galilee, and cast out devils. [45] But he went out, and began to publish it much, and to blaze abroad the matter, insomuch that Jesus could no more openly enter into the city, but was without in desert places: and they came to him from every quarter.

Matthew 24:4-14 KJV
And Jesus answered and said unto them, Take heed that no man deceive you. [5] For many shall come in my name, saying, I am Christ; and shall deceive many. [6] And ye shall hear of wars and rumours of wars: see that ye be not troubled: for all these things must come to pass, but the end is not yet. [7] For nation shall rise against nation, and kingdom against kingdom: and there shall be famines, and pestilences, and earthquakes, in divers places. [8] All these are the beginning of sorrows. [9] Then shall they deliver you up to be afflicted, and shall kill you: and ye shall be hated of all nations for my name's sake. [10] And then shall many be offended, and shall betray one another, and shall hate one another. [11] And many false prophets shall rise, and shall deceive many. [12] And because iniquity shall abound, the love of many shall wax cold. [13] But he that shall endure unto the end, the same shall be saved. [14] And this gospel of the kingdom shall be preached in all the world for a witness unto all nations; and then shall the end come.

We will keep on doing what He told us to do for the Lord will walk with us.

Mark 16:15-20 KJV
And he said unto them, Go ye into all the world, and preach the gospel to every creature. [16] He that believeth and is baptized shall be saved; but he that believeth not shall be damned. [17] And these signs shall follow them that believe; In my name shall they cast out devils; they shall speak with new tongues; [18] They shall take up serpents; and if they drink any deadly thing, it shall not hurt them; they shall lay hands on the sick, and they shall recover. [19] So then after the Lord had spoken unto them, he was received up into heaven, and sat on the right hand of God. [20] And they went forth, and preached every where, the Lord working with them , and confirming the word with signs following. Amen.

These hands will bring healings to somebody. The Lord working with all of us confirming the word with signs following. Amen.

The Testimony of the Cleansed Leper to the Whole Nation

Who shall declare His generation?

Mark 1:40-45 KJV
And there came a leper to him, beseeching him, and kneeling down to him, and saying unto him, If thou wilt, thou canst make me clean. [41] And Jesus, moved with compassion, put forth his hand, and touched him, and saith unto him, I will; be thou clean. [42] And as soon as he had spoken, immediately the leprosy departed from him, and he was cleansed. [43] And he straitly charged him, and forthwith sent him away; [44] And saith unto him, See thou say nothing to any man: but go thy way, shew thyself to the priest, and offer for thy cleansing those things which Moses commanded, for a testimony unto them. [45] But he went out, and began to publish it much, and to blaze abroad the matter, insomuch that Jesus could no more openly enter into the city, but was without in desert places: and they came to him from every quarter.

ii) He knelt down and worshipped Him because He knew He wasn't qualified

iii) He was specific in prayer "make me clean."

iv) He expressed faith in Christ's Power.

v) The Lord revealed His will and His willingness.

vi) The miracle of cleansing was real and verifiable.

vii) He was to be a testimony to the whole nation.

1. The Plague and the desperation of an unclean leper

Mark 1:40 KJV
And there came a leper to him, beseeching him, and kneeling down to him, and saying unto him, If thou wilt, thou canst make me clean.

You must make up your mind to come to the Lord.

Luke 4:27 KJV
And many lepers were in Israel in the time of Eliseus the prophet; and none of them was cleansed, saving Naaman the Syrian.

How special this miracle was.

The background of leprosy. It was something that brought reproach and took them outside the camp.

Leviticus 13:44 KJV
He is a leprous man, he is unclean: the priest shall pronounce him utterly unclean; his plague is in his head.

The implication of that is that he/she will not be allowed in the temple amidst the fellowship of everybody.

Leviticus 13:45 KJV
And the leper in whom the plague is , his clothes shall be rent, and his head bare, and he shall put a covering upon his upper lip, and shall cry, Unclean, unclean.

Leviticus 13:46 KJV
All the days wherein the plague shall be in him he shall be defiled; he is unclean: he shall dwell alone; without the camp shall his habitation be .

He will miss the beauty of everything around.

Is there some problem in your life that makes people keep you at arms length? This reproach will not remain.

Leviticus 22:3 KJV
Say unto them, Whosoever he be of all your seed among your generations, that goeth unto the holy things, which the children of Israel hallow unto the Lord , having his uncleanness upon him, that soul shall be cut off from my presence: I am the Lord .

If for example a leper, uses bold face and enters into the temple would be stoned to death.

Leviticus 22:4 KJV
What man soever of the seed of Aaron is a leper, or hath a running issue; he shall not eat of the holy things, until he be clean. And whoso toucheth any thing that is unclean by the dead, or a man whose seed goeth from him;

He will be denied all privileges.

Sinners are barred from the kingdom of God.

Romans 1:24 KJV
Wherefore God also gave them up to uncleanness through the lusts of their own hearts, to dishonour their own bodies between themselves:

Unclean character, behaviour, lifestyle.

Romans 1:25-26 KJV
Who changed the truth of God into a lie, and worshipped and served the creature more than the Creator, who is blessed for ever. Amen. [26] For this cause God gave them up unto vile affections: for even their women did change the natural use into that which is against nature:

Moral, spiritual, social uncleanness.

Romans 1:27 KJV
And likewise also the men, leaving the natural use of the woman, burned in their lust one toward another; men with men working that which is unseemly, and receiving in themselves that recompence of their error which was meet.

Homosexuality is not the will of God. It is one of the cause of HIV.

Romans 1:28-32 KJV
And even as they did not like to retain God in their knowledge, God gave them over to a reprobate mind, to do those things which are not convenient; [29] Being filled with all unrighteousness, fornication, wickedness, covetousness, maliciousness; full of envy, murder, debate, deceit, malignity; whisperers, [30] Backbiters, haters of God, despiteful, proud, boasters, inventors of evil things, disobedient to parents, [31] Without understanding, covenantbreakers, without natural affection, implacable, unmerciful: [32] Who knowing the judgment of God, that they which commit such things are worthy of death, not only do the same, but have pleasure in them that do them.

We must be as desperate as this man.

2. The Power and the demonstration of an uncommon liberation.

Mark 1:41-42 KJV
And Jesus, moved with compassion, put forth his hand, and touched him, and saith unto him, I will; be thou clean. [42] And as soon as he had spoken, immediately the leprosy departed from him, and he was cleansed.

His compassion will touch your life as you come to the Lord. He wills your blessings, miracle, transformation.

Jesus does not restrict Himself to one method.

Luke 17:12 KJV
And as he entered into a certain village, there met him ten men that were lepers, which stood afar off:

One word will cleanse and deliver us all.

Luke 17:13 KJV
And they lifted up their voices, and said, Jesus, Master, have mercy on us.

They prayed differently. Pray as it comes out of your heart. God understands everyone's language.

Luke 17:14 KJV
And when he saw them , he said unto them, Go shew yourselves unto the priests. And it came to pass, that, as they went, they were cleansed.

As you are going back home that miracle will reach you.

Matthew 9:33 KJV
And when the devil was cast out, the dumb spake: and the multitudes marvelled, saying, It was never so seen in Israel.

You will be the carrier of the miracle power of God.

Mark 2:12 KJV
And immediately he arose, took up the bed, and went forth before them all; insomuch that they were all amazed, and glorified God, saying, We never saw it on this fashion.

Once you come to the presence of Christ all your problems are solved. Tell Jesus He'll take it away.

What happened to this man they never saw it in this fashion. He will cleanse us. What He has done for him in the physical He will do it for me in the spiritual.
"Lord if thou wilt"

Psalm 51:2, 7 KJV
Wash me throughly from mine iniquity, and cleanse me from my sin. [7] Purge me with hyssop, and I shall be clean: wash me, and I shall be whiter than snow.

Psalm 51:10 KJV
Create in me a clean heart, O God; and renew a right spirit within me.

For me it will be done.

My time has come.

Ezekiel 36:25-27 KJV
Then will I sprinkle clean water upon you, and ye shall be clean: from all your filthiness, and from all your idols, will I cleanse you. [26] A new heart also will I give you, and a new spirit will I put within you: and I will take away the stony heart out of your flesh, and I will give you an heart of flesh. [27] And I will put my spirit within you, and cause you to walk in my statutes, and ye shall keep my judgments, and do them .

Cleansing has come. Our soul, spirit, hearts, life, church will be cleansed.

Ephesians 5:26-27 KJV
That he might sanctify and cleanse it with the washing of water by the word, [27] That he might present it to himself a glorious church, not having spot, or wrinkle, or any such thing; but that it should be holy and without blemish.

Revelation 19:7-8 KJV
Let us be glad and rejoice, and give honour to him: for the marriage of the Lamb is come, and his wife hath made herself ready. [8] And to her was granted that she should be arrayed in fine linen, clean and white: for the fine linen is the righteousness of saints.

3. The Pain of disobeying our Uncompromising Lord.

Mark 1:43-44 KJV
And he straitly charged him, and forthwith sent him away; [44] And saith unto him, See thou say nothing to any man: but go thy way, shew thyself to the priest, and offer for thy cleansing those things which Moses commanded, for a testimony unto them.

This cleansing of leprosy had not happened to any Israelite since the time of Mariam who was taken out of the camp for seven days until she was cleansed. Naaman was cleansed but didn't go to see any priest because he was not an Israelite. For thousands of years an Israelite got cleansed and then for the first time announced to the priest.

i) The peculiarity of silence before the people

Mark 1:44 KJV
And saith unto him, See thou say nothing to any man: but go thy way, shew thyself to the priest, and offer for thy cleansing those things which Moses commanded, for a testimony unto them.

Was he the only one that Jesus charged not to publicise this miracle? No.

Matthew 17:9 KJV
And as they came down from the mountain, Jesus charged them, saying, Tell the vision to no man, until the Son of man be risen again from the dead.

Luke 8:54-56 KJV
And he put them all out, and took her by the hand, and called, saying, Maid, arise. [55] And her spirit came again, and she arose straightway: and he commanded to give her meat. [56] And her parents were astonished: but he charged them that they should tell no man what was done.

John 12:10-11 KJV
But the chief priests consulted that they might put Lazarus also to death; [11] Because that by reason of him many of the Jews went away, and believed on Jesus.

There might be a situation here today and there may be some people who belong to the other religion who may want to kill a child of God who tells the testimony before he grows spiritually.

ii) The purpose of showing himself to the priest

Mark 1:44 KJV
And saith unto him, See thou say nothing to any man: but go thy way, shew thyself to the priest, and offer for thy cleansing those things which Moses commanded, for a testimony unto them.

A more effective testimony is when he announces to the priest who will say that a ceremony that they have not seen since the time of Moses we are seeing it now.

Luke 17:12-14 KJV
And as he entered into a certain village, there met him ten men that were lepers, which stood afar off: [13] And they lifted up their voices, and said, Jesus, Master, have mercy on us. [14] And when he saw them , he said unto them, Go shew yourselves unto the priests. And it came to pass, that, as they went, they were cleansed.

Psalm 78:5 KJV
For he established a testimony in Jacob, and appointed a law in Israel, which he commanded our fathers, that they should make them known to their children:

Our testimonies will be given out wisely.

iii) The publicity that separated the Saviour and the populace.

Mark 1:45 KJV
But he went out, and began to publish it much, and to blaze abroad the matter, insomuch that Jesus could no more openly enter into the city, but was without in desert places: and they came to him from every quarter.

It restricted the Lord from the people, it changed the programme of our Lord Jesus Christ. Let's do as the Lord has commanded us to do.

Isaiah 55:8 KJV
For my thoughts are not your thoughts, neither are your ways my ways, saith the Lord .

The thoughts of the Lord was different from that of the leper. We may not understand but He has a reason for saying what He says.

Isaiah 55:9 KJV
For as the heavens are higher than the earth, so are my ways higher than your ways, and my thoughts than your thoughts.

We will follow the thoughts, way of the Lord.

Jesus is now telling us to go to all the world and publish the gospel to every creature.

Has He saved, healed, given you the word? Go tell them.

Mark 16:15-16, 20 KJV
And he said unto them, Go ye into all the world, and preach the gospel to every creature. [16] He that believeth and is baptized shall be saved; but he that believeth not shall be damned. [20] And they went forth, and preached every where, the Lord working with them , and confirming the word with signs following. Amen.

John 4:34-35 KJV
Jesus saith unto them, My meat is to do the will of him that sent me, and to finish his work. [35] Say not ye, There are yet four months, and then cometh harvest? behold, I say unto you, Lift up your eyes, and look on the fields; for they are white already to harvest.

He is sending us forth to go and preach the word of God to the people.

John 4:36-38 KJV
And he that reapeth receiveth wages, and gathereth fruit unto life eternal: that both he that soweth and he that reapeth may rejoice together. [37] And herein is that saying true, One soweth, and another reapeth. [38] I sent you to reap that whereon ye bestowed no labour: other men laboured, and ye are entered into their labours.

John 17:17-18 KJV
Sanctify them through thy truth: thy word is truth. [18] As thou hast sent me into the world, even so have I also sent them into the world.

Acts 8:4 KJV
Therefore they that were scattered abroad went every where preaching the word.

Acts 11:19, 21 KJV
Now they which were scattered abroad upon the persecution that arose about Stephen travelled as far as Phenice, and Cyprus, and Antioch, preaching the word to none but unto the Jews only. [21] And the hand of the Lord was with them: and a great number believed, and turned unto the Lord.

Our time has now come to go forth, we will not be afraid.

Romans 1:14-16 KJV
I am debtor both to the Greeks, and to the Barbarians; both to the wise, and to the unwise. [15] So, as much as in me is, I am ready to preach the gospel to you that are at Rome also. [16] For I am not ashamed of the gospel of Christ: for it is the power of God unto salvation to every one that believeth; to the Jew first, and also to the Greek.

I will go.

Mark 5:18-20 KJV
And when he was come into the ship, he that had been possessed with the devil prayed him that he might be with him. [19] Howbeit Jesus suffered him not, but saith unto him, Go home to thy friends, and tell them how great things the Lord hath done for thee, and hath had compassion on thee. [20] And he departed, and began to publish in Decapolis how great things Jesus had done for him: and all men did marvel.

You will do what the Lord has told you. You will open your mouth and say something for the Lord and as a result many people will come to know the Lord through you.

John 4:28-30 KJV
The woman then left her waterpot, and went her way into the city, and saith to the men, [29] Come, see a man, which told me all things that ever I did: is not this the Christ? [30] Then they went out of the city, and came unto him.

Will you bring your community to Christ? You will bring them in Jesus' name.

John 4:39-42 KJV
And many of the Samaritans of that city believed on him for the saying of the woman, which testified, He told me all that ever I did. [40] So when the Samaritans were come unto him, they besought him that he would tarry with them: and he abode there two days. [41] And many more believed because of his own word; [42] And said unto the woman, Now we believe, not because of thy saying: for we have heard him ourselves, and know that this is indeed the Christ, the Saviour of the world.

He will touch, cleanse, heal and deliver you. Save, renew and revive you in Jesus' name.

Lord I will. Rise up and receive.
