The National Association of University Students (NAUS) has reaffirmed her full support for the proposed nation wide strike by the NLC and other Unions on the new national minimum wage drive. In a press statement released by the Senior Special Assistant to the President on Media and Publicity, Uthman Qasim, NAUS said the state of Nigerian workers has great impact on the welfare of the university students.

Adding that, only when parents whose children constitute 90% of Nigerian university students are properly catered for, students will in return receive better treatment.

The president of the Association, Comrade Kasimu Abdullahi Idrisu maintained that the harm the strike will cause is inconsequential compare to the aged and impending sufferings of Nigerian workers.

He further lamented on the on going strike by Academic Staff Union of University (ASUU) and call on the Federal government to declare state of emergency in the education sector of the nation. This he claimed to be over due.

On the state of security, NAUS called for peace and dialogue among Nigerians as the country is engulfed with series of crises cutting across religion, tribe and regional basis.

Comrade Kasimu concluded, " Nigeria universities students should at all times support actions that ensure justice, peace and suitable learning environment such as the proposed nation wide strike by NLC".
