Igbos Are Not Tribalists by MeanChris(m): 4:30pm On Nov 13, 2018 |
Let us put the issue to an end. For the record I am Igbo and I was born and raised in the south east. I just left the south-east a few years ago to study in the west. I got admission at the age of 17, so I have 17 years experience with Igboland and it's people. I can never remember when I had any conversation with my father or any elderly person bordering around the yorubas or any tribe in Nigeria. When we discussed the civil war, I and my dad, his stance was that it was an Igbo man that betrayed the course and ultimately caused our loss. He never told me anything about the yorubas or try to instill a kind of sensitivity in me for anyone. 23 Likes 5 Shares |

As fair as this write up is I must admit it is flawed. If any1 tease Igbos about the love of money. They tease the Ijebus more for greediness n the Abokis for backwardness. An Igbo comedian was busy cracking jokes on n about Yoruba, I laughed this off growing up but I did take offend to it at that time because it was a subtly way Igbos use in insulting Yoruba. This is exactly what one Nwaipkwe idiot does daily on NL until I started quoting him to make foolish n hopeless joke about his tribe n their actors n actresses. You came to the West n you can clearly see how fairly the Yorubas deal with different ethnicities. It is crazy some Igbos want us to hate Hausa simply because they are not as educated. No Igbo I repeat can form superstar to any Yoruba. Coming top in class na shii to me, I am doing a lot beta than those that came top of my class in life today. Igbos should know they are not superior to the most nauseating Aboki, you were just lucky civilization came to you before them. How fast n much you accepted n adopted it is your father’s problem. Nobody in Nigeria will give up their right for you to thumb your chest over. The earlier you learn this the better for all of us. 26 Likes 4 Shares |

Yes very true, the hate is from other Nigerians towards igbos, igbos are just reacting back to the hate and they are crying fowl about it. 7 Likes 1 Share |

Saying igbos are tribalistic is on one the funniest thing I hear every time Go to any city in Nigeria after the indigenous people igbos are next and when we live.. We take the place like our own... Build empires without minding How many hausas has duplex in Ibadan... I sure know lots of igbos who have heavy investments in Ibadan, how many Yorubas have duplex in jos or kano, or kaduna or even jalingo... Igbos go here and develop this this places to the way they would if they are at home I know what my family went true to buy lands in bayelsa, once you are igbo the price is double, some won't even sale for you Now go to aba, enugu, owerri, how many Yoruba and Hausas own property in this places... Yet they are the first to scream one nigeria Any igbo has never asked for an advantage... All we need is equal front let merit lead 35 Likes 4 Shares |

mrvitalis: Here we go again with this Igbo stupidity. I know a Dangote that owns a cemetery factory n he’s also building a refinery that your forefathers never owned in Yoruba land and your unborn generations in this life and in the afterlife will never be allowed to own in Yoruba land. That mush I know, now you can go to hell. 18 Likes 3 Shares |

Modphase: Bros, there is a huge difference between making fun and scorn. What i faced was scorn. And I didn't mention I topped my class because I wanted to boast or something, it was that fact that gave my confidence a re-boost, I would have been a very timid person today. The thing is there is this negative awareness against Igbos. Everybody is weary of you as if you're about to steal something from them. As I'm talking about Yorubas, the same time for Hausas. My parents never taught me to hate Hausas too. I love Hausas sef because they're very straight forward with their emotions. When they're angry, you know.. they don't backstab (like the rest of us). My message is for everyone. The hate we are spreading.. When the chickens come home to roost, nobody will be safe. Lalasticlala, please move this thread to FP so that people will put it in their opinions and maybe write reply threads. Little efforts like this can go far to curb the hatred spreading like wildfire now. Thanks 8 Likes 1 Share |

Showing hatred in a faceless forum like nairaland is good for everybody in this country because there is no love amongst us. The sooner we stop pretending the better for everyone. I hate Buhari and everything the he represents. I will probably hate anybody that loves him - na so the thing set. 4 Likes 2 Shares |

mrvitalis: Comments such as this is why the igbos are hated and will never be allowed to lead. You have condemned the yoruba to mediocrity in this your comment and it is unfortunate. Neither I nor my generations will allow igbos rule over other Nigerians. We would rather topple an igbo Government than let it thrive. You can continue boasting on the internet while Yorubas and Hausa's handle the power in real life. #istandwithbuharitill2023 1 Like |

Modphase: I endorse this opinion and adopt it as mine. The igbos and yorubas just cannot agree politicallyor socially. As a yoruba man, I can't just stomach the empty arrogance and hubris of the average igbo man. We don't see life the same way and I will always disagree with the igbo worldview. I can still endure the Hausa Fulani with his religiously induced murderous rage because he's not boastful or rude to me in yorubaland. I have dragged back and forth with the igbo for 7 years on NL and realised that they can't change so there's really no need for rapprochement with them. The least we can do is to tolerate each other while respecting each other's values. For now, the only way we can punish the igbos for their hubris is to obstruct their March to Aso rock while conceptualizing further ways to cut down this hateful tribe. For now, the igbos can continue enjoying the benefits of one Nigeria by trading around the Federation. If and when we get the opportunity to drive them out, we gladly will do so. #istandwithbuharitill2023 9 Likes |

Modphase:Civilization came to Ibos first? Really? Very funny. The Ab.okis as you call them were writing books, riding horses in calvary military exercises long before the Ibos were clothed by white men. The Ibos need to purge themselves of civil war hatred and the idea that the Yoruba betrayed them. The behaviour of the Ibos during the reign of GEJ confirmed that they are hoping one day to get revenge. If not for that and their iconoclastic behaviour the Yoruba do not have time to think about them. Yoruba ignored them for decades until the internet gave them the facility to revive the war and try to rewrite history. 7 Likes |

MeanChris: I am interested in pushing igbos back into Alaigbo. If the igbos can't wage a frontal war against us in our greatest city(lagos) then they are the greatest cowards this country has ever seen. I don't see what offence yorubas have committed against igbos to warrant the hatred. But for now, as far as peace can be maintained, igbos can continue their trading business in the SW unhindered. But igbos will never attain Presidential power in Nigeria as far as Hausas and Yorubas are still in Nigeria Nigeria. We would rather give power to the South South than allow igbos get there. #istandwithbuharitill2023 12 Likes |

Trash. When you go to other regions, they welcome you and they allow you to set up your Business without no challenges. You pay them back by calling them names. Meanwhile, other tribes can not enjoy same previlages in the East. Go to any online platforms like Facebook, Tweeter and see how Igbo's call other tribes names. The case is same with Nairaland. Igbo's are tribalist no matter how you want to paint it. 22 Likes 1 Share

resurgent4oodua: Hmm odiegwu o Bros let me advice you.. I have given this my tribe the Igbos a lot of thought and have seen that there is NOTHING anyone can do to Igbos to take them down. I promise you, even if Buhari wins next year, Igbos will NEVER SUFFER. Let me even give you a small expo.. Everyone I know right now is seriously buying forex because we are even seriously considering that Buhari will win again. I will tell you this, if you like agree or disagree, if Buhari wins.. the economy is going dooown and at the end of the day, who will suffer it, not umu Igbo at allll. Get productive with your life, stop hating on Igbos because that is just who we are.. productive and prosperous people. I believe I made no hate speech in my response and I was being kind. Take the advice or leave it, cause if you're waiting for a day that Igbos will suffer or be cut down (according to you), it will never come. The worst mistake Nigeria will ever do is to grant Igbos their request for Biafra cause bros.... igbos will fly. In 30 years, we'll colonize Nigeria (ask saraduna if you think I'm wrong) I'm sorry but this is the obvious.. Vote for Buhari let's see who will suffer at the end of the day Lol 18 Likes 4 Shares |
