To all poultry farmers in the house, what would you do differently if you have the opportunity to grow your own maize, let say you are harvesting about 100 bags of 100kg. Of maize from a farm own, by you.
Will you compound your own feeds and what quantity of birds can that 100 bags of maize feed.
Please experienced farmers in the house

100bags of 100kg of maize will be 20,000kg of maize which will give you 20tonnes,when you compound it and add other ingredients to it the maize e.g soyabean,wheatoffal in order to convert it into feed you will have 800 bags feeds of 25kg each. The 800bags of feed will conveniently takecare of broilers from day old to 6weeks. Regards.For your consultancy you can call 08025452938

You will need approximately 3000kg soybeans full fat or meal or equivalent to go with it. If using concentrate, approximatel 1500kg bag or as the formula demands

Approximately if compounded should get about 15 tonnes of feed to raise about 3000-3500 broilers for 7-8 weeks maximum.

. I don't know the FCR you used, if you are feeding them adli bitum, 20tonnes which is 800 bags of 25kg of feed will take care of 5000 broilers from day old to 6 week. And as for the feed,Depending on the feed formulation you are using, For broiler starter feed,you will need 5400-6000kg of soya meal, 2000kg of wheatoffal,limestone, bone meal/dcp and other ingredients to compound 20tonnes of broilers feeds.There maybe some little variation depending on individual feed formulations.

How did you arrive at 20 tonnes?
Using concentrate like KBC 10 and Hendrix, it will look like this

3000 broilers will consume averagely in 6/7 weeks
1kg starter each
1.5kg grower
1.5 kg finisher

Starter per 1000 broiler feed will be
0-17 days
KBC 10 will be 375kg, maize 1800kg and soyabean meal will be 825kg for starter

17-37 days
KBC 10 will be 450kg, maize 2925kg and soyabean meal 1125kg for grower

37- 49 days (averagely)
KBC 10 will be 360kg, maize 3120kg and soyabean meal 1020kg for finisher

Total estimate should look like this
3000 broilers averagely for 6/7 weeks
KBC 1,200kg
Maize 7,800kg
Soya meal or full fat 3,000kg
Target weight: 2.6kg
Fcr=12,000/7,800= 1.53

Or 4000 broilers
KBC 1,600kg
Maize 10,400kg
Soya meal or full fat 4,000kg
Target weight: 2.6kg
Fcr=16,000/10,400= 1.53

If he is going to raise for more weeks for 3000 broilers, then the 10 tonne maize will likely be exhausted in 8 weeks.

Good day everyone.

Can someone help me with the items needed (and quantity) to mix a 50k HENDRIX LAYERS CONCENTRATE? I want to compare with Animal care concentrate to aid decision making at my farm.

Thank you
