cant believe all this rubbish. what nonsense is that? that the rector and the dean are both mad.

i'm also one of the product of FEDEPE, but to say the truth every higher institution in nigeria has its own standard cum procedure for admitting students.
its better for any candidate to do research before going for any school in nigeria

This information was brought to my notice as one of my brother who is seeking admission into the HND program 2018/2019 of FEDERAL POLYTECHNIC EDE.

He started the admission processes by doing the online payment of 15k, he sat for the written entrance exam and his exam result was even greater than the department merit requirement.

The admission list for both merit and supplementary candidate was pasted and his name was not among,he summon the courage to go and meet the Dean of student affairs of the school and was told today by the school Dean of student affairs that the school does not admit students fromm the following schools:

Polytechnic of Ibadan,
IREE poly,
Kwara poly,
Lagos state poly and
ESA Oke polytechnic for the past 15 years

...and my brother did his OND program in polytechnic of Ibadan.

My questions now is why don't they make it official as part of their conditions before prospective students apply for their school form,why the underground discrimination, does our concern educational sectors knows about this and lastly why is it that such atrocities given low awareness. This is not fair on us.

This is really nothing new...those schools mentioned above are notorious for cults and cultism-related activities, as such, FEDPOEDE is being careful not admit students with cultist background because they can cause trouble for the school.

Similar thing happened during my school days in YABATECH. For many years, YABATECH never accepted students from some other schools including some you mentioned above. But 1 particular session while I was on 1 year industrial training after my OND, they let down their guard & accepted some students from those schools. Cultism sprang up like wildfire in the YABATECH...a school that was not known for cultism. Students were killed...cultists entered a class in SMBS building & matcheted a student & left...the school was closed down many times that session.
By the time I returned for my HND, the school had been able to weed out the cultists & we never experienced such in the school again.
Like they say, experience is the best teacher!

I'm very interested in this issue. Every school has 2 list of schools they admit and don't admit their students. There is the green list(the ones they admit) and the black list(the ones they can never admit). The above listed schools( including LASU) have a poor reputation due to their history of cultism, bribery and poor academic standards and of course are in the black list of schools with high standards. As far as I know, schools like OAU, UI, UNIOSUN, FUTA etc can never admitted products of those schools, except in some rare cases(if you know somebody that knows somebody). Even lecturers discriminate their fellow lecturers that graduated from such schools. If you happen to have a certificate from a blacklisted school, even if you score 200%, they won't consider you for admission just as the deen as said. I feel for your brother but pls find out about a school's reputation before applying because it not only affect admission process but also scholarships and job offer after graduation.

Please try to present your arguments with facts next time. About 10 of my colleagues who were admitted through direct entry in UI finished from poly Ibadan. For your info, it was based on merit only with no influence.

Hmm ... You called those school listed above as glorified secondary school? Well, that's your opinion cos it's like an ass hole and everyone is entitle to ONE! However, i graduated from from Kwara State Polytechnic, Ilorin some years back and today Alhamdulilah i am doing very well as an enforcement and compliance agent of a reputable Federal government agency. This institution has produced men and women of substance in this country of ours, so if the school is nothing to write home about academically, the the product can't be possibly great. Remember, this is also an institution that runs IJMB programme which after completion and met the direct entry point, it automatically gives you direct access to 200 level to your desired university either Federal or State. My dear friend success is not measured by the institution you attend just as you don't judge a book by it's cover cos " If you are good thumbs up and if are not double your study spirit in order to improve your study ability. Let him try other institution and equally wish him the best of academic endeavours.

Must it be Ede ? Tell your brother to change his focus to Federal Polytechnic Ado-Ekiti... Though, the entry form is officially closed for this year; He would have to wait till next year.

They don't want cultists in their school. students from Polytechnics with high rate of cults clashes are rejected by some schools. For example, Yabatech doesn't admit male students from Federal Poly Ilaro then, but don't know about now....during my admission processing then, Laspotech DSA would look at your face and ask questions before offering admission.

The reasons they don't admit products from those schools is because they have a secret cult consortium, they don't want them to pollute their so called innocent students. If poly Ibadan is better than Ede Poly both in NBTE Ranking as i have confirmed, why didn't he remain there and enroll for his HND programme, why going to a school with low ranking in NBTE..Is someone thinking in my direction?

Your teachers at your ""Polytheistic Ede"" must be gnashing their teeth now! What a shameful "product's you are! You are one of the reasons why some people and organisations actually look down on HND holders even though some of them are academically fantastic.

I am a product of the federal polytechnic Ede. I graduated in 2011 and I must say, during my days in school, it is common knowledge to every student of the institution that Fedepe does not admit students from the above mentioned schools for some reasons.

I enquired into why this was so and I was told by a very liable source that considering the ills from those institutions such as cultism, internet fraud, sex for marks and other forms of ills which at the time were alien to Fedepe, the management of the institution in a bid to continue to churn out graduates that are distinguished both in character and in learning had to take that strong stand.

It's been close to 10 years now since I left school in Ede and I am certain that the moral standards enshrined in students at the time has faded off overtime. I am certain that FedpolyEde now ranks among one of the higher institutions in the south west with the highest number of yahoo boys. So why continue to victimize potential admission seekers on the same grounds that have been eroded?

If things like this is happening in our institutions, I wonder what will be happening in the labour market.

So this happened to your brother, but him suppose find out about the school before applying. The policy is hypocritically, the don't admit students from those school but yet they employ graduates from those school to work there

Hello poster, I am privileged to be a staff of the polytechnic mentioned above. Thou I am not qualified to respond to the above on behalf of the institution however I will help clarify some of the claims .
1. HND form is 10500 excluding 1k bank charges.
2. How sure are you that your said brother scored above the departmental cut off mark.
3. Its an internal policy of the polytechnic not to accept students from the listed polytechnics due to their history of violence and cultism related activities.

Quoting the Dean who may have given you such information in confidence may not be good enough.

So the fact that somebody decided to do HND in another school means is former school is substandard,people have alot personal reasons to do so in terms of present conditions. so don't think in that direction at all

See as you just embarassed we that are original products of the great polytechnic with your grammatical errors.You should not have jumped to reply the OP when you know you will spew out gibberish all in the name of defending the institution.Most of the institution graduates definitely know the school don't accept ND graduates from the institutions mentioned by OP but how in the world do you expect outsiders to know this if it is not stated in the application advertisement .OP that school will not want to refund your money but I am sure you can drag the school name in the mud till the rector of that school will be cautioned to take the right step in the school advertisement starting from next year application
