The resignation of cabinet members during President Buhari's Administration is enough to draw the attention of Nigeria citizens.

The Ministers have resigned their appointments for various reasons but our study shows that none of this ministers left the cabinet without something they were looking forward to.


In this post, we have compiled a list of ministers who resigned their positions under President Muhammadu Buhari and why they did so.

1. Amina Mohammed

Mohammed served as Federal Minister of Environment in the cabinet of President Muhammadu Buhari from November 2015 to December 2016.

During that time, she was Nigeria's representative in the African Union (AU) Reform Steering Committee, chaired by Paul Kagame.

She resigned from the Nigerian Federal Executive Council on 24 February 2017.

In January 2017, United Nations Secretary-General António Guterres announced his intention to appoint Mohammed Deputy Secretary-General of the United Nations.

2. Kayode Fayemi

John Olukayode Fayemi, (born 9 February 1965) is the current Governor of Ekiti State and a native of Isan-Ekiti in Oye Local Government of Ekiti State, Nigeria.

He previously held the office of the Governor of Ekiti State between 2010 and 2014.

He resigned as the Minister of Solid Minerals Development on May 30, 2018 to contest for the Ekiti State governorship election.

3. Kemi Adeosun

In November 2015, Miss Adeosun Kemi was appointed Nigeria's Minister of Finance by President Muhammadu Buhari.

On 7 July, 2018 Nigerian online newspaper Premium Times alleged that Adeosun had illegally obtained her NYSC exemption certificate to get into public office.
