They should discuss on how to increase light productivity. They should privatise PHCN at the Capital market. And not share it to themselves saying we privatised it.

They should start by sanctioning cars emitting dangerous black fumes

FRSC can make huge money from that alone

In a bid to enforce environmental laws, the Federal Government has concluded arrangements to begin implementation of national generator emissions control programme from January 1, 2019.

Director General, National Environmental Standards and Regulations Enforcement Agency (NESREA), Dr. Lawrence Anukam, disclosed this while commissioning the equipment in Abuja. He lamented that indiscriminate use of generators for domestic and industrial power supply increases concentration of greenhouse gases in the atmosphere.

Anukam noted that population growth and economic activities have escalated proliferation of industries, use of vehicles and generators, which has led to accelerated air pollution globally.

“Atmospheric pollution is gradually becoming a serious menace in Nigerian cities, especially in metropolitan areas where the use of generators for alternative source of power supply is higher,” he said.

According to him, Nigeria has pledged to reduce its greenhouse emissions by 20 per cent conditionally and 45 per cent unconditionally. Anukam, therefore, stressed that the emissions control programme is a strategy to significantly reduce pollutants from generators, adding that it would involve periodic testing. He restated that the implementation of emissions reduction was conceived as a strategy to address pollution and other environmental issues.

The sad reality is that the project itself is worthless becus it wont be that effective except they'll start seizing generators and lifeless cars, LMAO, which can neva happen!
If we must reduce greenhouse gases to a great extent, then the power sector shud endeavour to be more reliable!
I keep wondering were the idea of 24/7 uninterrupted power supply emanated from¿¿¿¿

For you to stop GHG emissions emanating from generators you must first provide steady power supply to the people which has been impossible so far due to the ineptitude of our leaders.

A govt serious about hydrocarbon emission will first tackle gas flaring by the IOCs. Instead they are thinking of chasing poor masses up and down cos of generator when there's no stable electricity supply.
Re: FG To Begin Emissions Control Programme January 1, 2019 by nograv: 9:54am On Dec 28, 2018
Useless government. Let the minister of darkness Fashola sort out the power problem of Nigeria and most of the generators will disappear overnight..

That will solve most Nigeria's pollution problems.

Then get old vehicles off the streets. Unless you are willing to lay a high tax for an old car they are to be taken off the road..

Buhari or Atiku dont think like this.. Useless men.. Mtcheww..

HATRED feeds on its host's rationality and reasonability. He who has given up his mind to hatred takes compliments for insult and blessing as a CURSE.

This policy if implemented has nothing to do with stable or unstable power supply, it is for the benefit of every individuals especially the dwellers in densely populated cities.

I live in Lagos and I know how heavy the air is to the lungs, and how damaging the noise is to the ears. Things has to be balanced and moderate.

Remember, sound health isn't valued until......

Nigeria is one of the least country that can control carbon emission....They in power should stop deceiving themselves.
