I think I'll follow suit with d employer, d lady in question is probably not d only applicant, there might be other applicants who needs d job badly and are so 'poor'. Do u expect d employer to employ someone who is 'stinkingly rich' and whose salary won't add any value her life and neglect those who have nothing let's be civil in our thinking abeg!!! If u wanna go for a job interview, dress moderately and not ostentatiously, ur a job seeker, not a multi-billionaire contractor 1 Like |

Amicable22: Trust me this happens, I am a living witness. After graduation I dropped my CV's randomly as I needed a job like fire. The first and second invite i got was from Spring Bank and Intercontinental Bank. I passed both writing test and other rigorous processes involved till I got to the final stage for both banks. The senior manager that interviewed me at Spring Bank said I looked too refine to be a job seeker. That the name of the institutions (primary and secondary) sounded porch and all that the job is not for people like me, that I should ask my pops to hook me up with something. At Intercontinental Bank, the Area Manager told me they would have love to have me if not that I appear satisfied. I overheard him telling other board members in a language I understand that I will be difficult to control given my background and exposure. So you see the kind of country we find ourselves in. 5 Likes |

flourishing247:That possibility exists mostly in Nollywood. A sensible rich girl knows her paraphernalia can cost her a job especially if she has a point to prove. You only go to a job with your chauffeur driven, hidden number Lexus when daddy has called his friend and his friend wants you to come see the place before you resume not when you are a corper searching for PPA. 2 Likes |

Employers are devils in sheep's clothing. When I was newly employed in the bank(no longer there though), in owerri. I noticed that once salaries were paid, employees made transfers, leaving only like #2k in their salary accounts. I didn't touch mine for some months o,as I didn't need it at the time. Before I knew it, head office from lagos did a mail to my then B.O.M, asking her to probe me and question how I was surviving without touching it. Of course I had nothing to hide. ikbnice: 2 Likes |

Read all the shadesof opinion above and something struck me. Many posters simply jumped to conclusins without cobsidering what specifics the Company management may have given the HR person to seek out for. Decisions made by a recruiter are so decisive that the outcomes can make or undo a company. A typical private company and its prevalent culture is built around the personality and character traits of the promoter(s). The scenario painted above depicts a private company setting that thrives on action and targets. Please note that what they were seeking is a "Youth Corper" and not a manager. Whas the point in hiring someone you know will definitely be a misfit? A business has profits as its primary motive . Only those who are perceived to be able todeliver on set goals should hired. Its a professional decision based on psychologial underpinings and not a moral barometer. 2 Likes |

The employer thinks that poor equates humility. How wrong. In this country, it is usually the poorer the more arrogant. When you see a rich person being all arrogant, they usually started out dirt poor. 3 Likes |

It's just unfortunate that we have bigots like you as HR personnel in many organizations! People who can't make decisions without allowing their biases get hold of them. Just imagine! You didn't even care what the lady has upstairs to bring on board. That girl's connection might even impart the organization positively. Oh! I forgot, many companies in Nigeria are slave drivers! So, they look out to employ people they can easily turn to slaves. Dummies whom they can easily control. It is for the same reason that some companies in Nigeria come up with obnoxious age requirements in their recruitments. They believe that they can readily enslave those below certain age bracket. They tend to forget that businesses thrive on rules and regulations that are fair enough to both the employer and the employee. Not on some kind of master-slave approach. This is another reason why many businesses fail in this country. Because people who can't reason properly are put in critical decision-making departments like HR. 1 Like |

AZeD1: I really don't think u kw the meaning of inferiority complex because if u do u wouldn't use dat term, wen u have an interview again, y don't u go shopping for new expensive cloths with blings and Louis Vuitton shoe and even borrow ur father's car and ask me who has inferiority complex, is it u or the manager, ? U don't have any business, u can't even feed for ur self,or even a family for 1 week without squeezing ur face and u are saying someone who has a business running with u looking for a position to work with them has inferiority complex, most of u come online and post rubbish of wat u can't do offline (lion online, cat offline) ,,i pray god helps ur soul, ,day first talk say graduate too day proud with nothing to show and u are a classical example of 1 1 Like |

Jman06: Dude quote me again and again...if an interviewee has something tangible to offer an organization it doesn't take time to fish such out, ,weather she is well dressed or not, I have been opportune to see many face time interview with some of my father friends and I can tell u within 1mins they already know if u are going to be employed or not, ,,,,,or u think it's like nigeria politics dat do try ur luck in president? bro u are talking about business/money here ,who wants to dish out a monthly salary When d person isn't offering d company any idea or bring improvement to a company, just come to work and sit down when it's 4pm, she carries her bag and goes home, when they start sacking workers I bet u, she wil b NO 1 day will remove ,,she for employ her first, ,i laugh at u, when u become a core business man, ,u will definitely re edit ur statement here again There is no sentiment in business 1 Like |

larryking540:From the write up, isn't it obvious that the interviewer was simply jealous of the lady? It is not every organization that is as smart as you think! Some allow bigots occupy critical posts in their businesses and that robs off negatively on the business. This is one reason why many businesses fail where others succeed. 2 Likes |
