that depends on your market.. both local opv and hybrids.. grows well, if well managed.. I get this sneaky suspicion local opvs are more resistant to insect attacks compared to hybrids.. while hybridd are more resistant to bacteria attacks..
that's just what I've observed on my plants so far
Thanks bro

Yes o, had to harvest them with the fear of them getting spoilt.
what was your first harvest like?? I mean how many sacks or kilograms did you achieve from whatever plant population you harvested

We have not done a total harvest. We only hand picked the riped ones. That gave us a 25kg basket.
98% are still green.

Farm is in Ottu, in Oyo state.
Definitely, the 25kg we harvested was sold for 6k locally.

With the lockdown, im in Lagos, but fortunately my workers are still at the farm.

I cant wait for the lockdown and covid 19 to be over.

here in ogun state.. that bag would go for 14 to 15k or else we're now having shortage of money in circulation and I'm also aware some locals prefer the local variety to hybrid.. you will sell for higher price in lagos

Definitely, first, most of the peppers are yet to ripe. Those that ripen first isint much to hire a vehicle to those destinations, will not be profitable.

In the next one or two weeks, when the bulk are ripe, definitely i wont be considering local sales.

Who local help ...lol

like my fellow Farmer rightly said that the answers to your questions is in the thread, but one thing you have to understand is that one plot is small for a pepper farm,it is not a complicated crop to grow like cucumbers but it takes time and space, the only two stubborn points to be wary of in pepper farming is viral/bacterial leaf shrinking disease and immature pod shedding, there are other pitfalls and potholes along the road but they are easily managed with good maintenance,a successful pepper farmer is a proactive individual that plans ahead,by this time his farm should be flowering and fruiting already so to utilize the rains and high price,90-100 days is a long time to wait especially if you are broke and hungry, pepper farming required an unwavering clear focus on target and the mindset to believe in yourself.
Good afternoon boss

Does Cucumber require nursery and how many plants can fill up an acre

Farming is sweet when it comes to harvesting. I harvested 48bags today from my 2plots of cucumber..
After you harvested your cucumber

Did you have to make another planting or will it continue to yield fruits for a long time??

see the damage done by aphids on my farm.. some of my promising pepper stands now without foliage... though I've dealt with the aphids attack with organic solution.. but it looks like the damage has already been done on some of my plants

the plants are still green.. but they're without foliage.. I've checked for nematodes.. but no sign of nematodes.. I diagnose one of the plants.. maybe I'm looking at bacteria wilt.. but no sign of bacteria wilt

so I can only conclude.. this is the result of aphids on my farm

and the organic solution solution I used seems to be more effective compared to that of chemical

atleast I now know what aphids looks like.. and the nest way to spot them is ants.. ants farm on aphids.. so if you're having black ants on your pepper stand.. theres 90% chance aphids are present

that is the reason vegetable farms should be checked carefully if you ate spraying two weeks interval, but if you spray weekly I don't see the possibility of aphids surviving a dose of laraforce gold or coursge.,most of the time the organic solution fades quickly with a strong rainfall.

this from the beginning was my mistake.. I've been focusing on bacteria diseases forgetting thyre also insects almost invisible to the eye.. the only insects I've been seeing in my farm are leave cutting insects.. so I assumed all is fine.. no need to be feeding my plants with unnecessary chemicals.. not until now

don't worry they will bring out even fresher foliage, just apply urea fertilizer and spray a mixture of fungicide, foliar fertilizer and systemic insecticide on the whole crop, pepper is a resilient crop, there is a site we planted pepper this time last year and I went to clear the land for other projects to see the crops fully regenerated and fruiting, how it managed to survive the dry season and harmattan I cannot understand.

Good morning Mr Emeka, I know this isn't the right thread for this, I've few questions
1. What's the cost startup for a cucumber farm.... 3 plots
2. Using drip irrigation is expensive... Is there any alternative
3. How many times can Cucumber be planted in a year
4. How much can I used in drip irrigation in setting up an acre of cucumber farm
Sorry for derailing once again
