I was dissapointed in Ladoja, this is a perfect gentleman that ought to have even become governor since 1999. He missed it because he's a member of PDP. He is Rich, has chains of companies, dresses simply in "ankara". Him with Tinubu, Alfred Rewane gave NADECO the financial backing during those dark days in Nigeria history.

As the 18 lawmakers working for the removal of Governor Rasidi Ladoja of Oyo State from office prepare to act on the report of the seven-man panel investigating allegation of gross misconduct against the governor, President Olusegun Obasanjo says it’s too late to stop the process already initiated by the state’s House of Assembly.

This is even as the Ibadan branch of the Nigerian Bar Association (NBA) berated the state’s acting Chief Judge, Justice Afolabi Adeniran, for violating the constitution by ignoring a court order restraining him from constituting the seven-man panel investigating allegations of gross misconduct against Ladoja. Also, it is coming at a time armed men and police armoured tanks were drafted to the state’s House of Assembly Complex and later stood down.

According to Ogun State Governor, Otunba Gbenga Daniel, who spoke when President Obasanjo visited the home of the foremost educationist, Pa Emmanuel Alayande, on his 96th birthday, the President believes that the legal process involved in the matter had already gone far and cannot be truncated.

Embattled Speaker of the Oyo State House of Assembly, Hon. Abraham Adeolu Adeleke, has described the decision of the seven-man panel looking into the allegations of gross misconduct against Governor Rasidi Ladoja of Oyo State, to wind up last Monday

without allowing the governor enough time to defend himself as a civilian coup d’etat which ran contrary to ethics of democracy.
Adeleke, supported by his anti-impeachment colleagues, therefore, called on President Olusegun Obasanjo and the National Assembly to call the plotters to order in the interest of peace, good governance and stability of this country.

At a press briefing held at Agodi State Secretariat, Ibadan, Adeleke said that the notice of allegations of gross misconduct signed by 15 of the 32 lawmakers on December 9, 2005 was contrary to the provision of the law which stipulated that such a notice must be presented to him as "Speaker, according to Section 188 (2) (a) of the Nigerian Constitution, 1999, and no other member of the House was served with any copy of it."

Faulting the Monday ruling of the Chief Bolaji Ayorinde (SAN) panel, which claimed that the governor was served with the notice of impeachment, Adeleke said, "the executive governor was never issued any notice by him as the law required, but rather that the House of Assembly at its sitting of 14th December, 2005 in the Assembly Complex presided over by the Speaker urged the Governor to ignore the paid advertisement in The Nigerian Tribune containing the impeachment notice as it did not emanate from me as Speaker."

So many of my Benin folks have been complainiing of so many houses he is buying up in London. I also know that Edo is a non-performing state with high crime, very bad roads, etc

I went to EDO this past Xmas, and I have to agree with you, the roads are bad and the town is a mess, but one thing I noticed is that your Governor rides around in a Lexus 470 truck. how accountable is that?  and you can just look at the people and see hunger.  But lets not forget the governor's father is wealthy too, so how do you distinguish personal wealth, inheritance? and My people money?

I noticed that the people "thoroughly weeping" for the nation are those abroad.

When you beat a man, pour water on him, lock him in a dark room and tell him he is of no value and everyone else stands there and watches like television, the man accepts his fate because no-one will help him.

When it is your turn to be beaten, water poured on and locked away in a dark room, you will of course express no surprise that everyone is looking at you like it is television.

One day everyone will be beaten, water poured on them and all locked up. One day one will escape and he will have children who will see those being beaten, water poured on and locked up and will ask why?

At that time the question will be, what is this Oyibo talking about? My Diasporan friends take heart, those that wonder why you think and act this way, know not better.

I agree with you. I am from Edo state and I know the appalling situation of my home town.
That man,that greedy thief should not only be impeached but hanged as well !!

And do you know why we are weeping ? Because we know things can be better.
Most Nigerians in Nigeria have become so used to abnormalities that when we weep at such things they can't understand us because such abnormalities seem normal.Folks,what is happening is not normal. IT IS WRONG !!!!!

It is time we sit up and face reality. As a country and as a people we are gradually being withered away.Soon there will be no Nigeria if nothing is done.

Sometimes I wonder how it is that a handful of men,probably less than 10,000 in all,can hold a nation of some 150 million people,not less than 60 million able bodied men,to ransom

Can u believ that this so called Adedibu (who has four base guitar string-like marks on his cheeks) cant even spea fluent english. I saw one of his TV interviews sometimes ago and i shook my head.

First things first... don't let nobody be decieved as to ongoings in Oyo... its not about good/bad governance... Its about politics... and not just politics... POWER POLITICS.. (the type that got Bill Clinton)... wasteful, pointless conspriratorial politics that serves NOBODY cept the people behind it.... In this case "... I PUT YOU THERE... YOU'RE NOT DOING MY BIDDING... I REMOVE YOU FROM THERE..." PURE AND SIMPLE!!

From the little I know of Ladoja he was and has been an Oil man for a long time... He made his fortune a long time ago outside of Government and Politics and then proceeded to use the proceeds to fight the military to a standstill. He's a technocrat (never mind the accent, he's well educated) and the I'd imagine his ideas of developmental politics went against everything Adedibu and his handpicked legislature (whom together couldn't put togeher one line of credible policy to save their lives) stand for. UNDERSTAND SOMETHING PEOPLE... THE MOST DANGEROUS PEOPLE ON EARTH ARE IGNORANT PEOPLE (NOT ILLITERATE)... WHY? BECAUSE THEY DON'T KNOW ANY BETTER!! So no matter what you say to them they feel they know best!

As for this Diaspora CRAP... WHATS WITH THIS!!! I spent most of my youth abroad. Have an education I'm proud of I had the option of been able to work anywhere in the world I chose. I work in Nigeria.. Why? Because I've seen everything the rest of the world has to offer and I KNOW we can match it. The work I do is heavily developmental inclined Project Development... my initiatives...my work...my sweat. If a Project can employ 500-2000 people and they can feed themselves and their families...
