Types and causes Viral infections of the liver that are classified as hepatitis include hepatitis A, B, C, D, and E. A different virus is responsible for each type of virally transmitted hepatitis. Hepatitis A is always an acute, short-term disease, while hepatitis B, C, and D are most likely to become ongoing and chronic. Hepatitis E is usually acute but can be particularly dangerous in pregnant women. Hepatitis A Hepatitis A is caused by an infection with the hepatitis A virus (HAV). This type of hepatitis is most commonly transmitted by consuming food or water contaminated by feces from a person infected with hepatitis A. Hepatitis B Hepatitis B is transmitted through contact with infectious body fluids, such as blood, vaginal secretions, or semen, containing the hepatitis B virus (HBV). Injection drug use, having sex with an infected partner, or sharing razors with an infected person increase your risk of getting hepatitis B. It’s estimated by the CDC that 1.2 million people in the United States and 350 million people worldwide live with this chronic disease. Hepatitis C Hepatitis C comes from the hepatitis C virus (HCV). Hepatitis C is transmitted through direct contact with infected body fluids, typically through injection drug use and sexual contact. HCV is among the most common bloodborne viral infections in the United States. Approximately 2.7 to 3.9 million Americans are currently living with a chronic form of this infection. Hepatitis D Also called delta hepatitis, hepatitis D is a serious liver disease caused by the hepatitis D virus (HDV). HDV is contracted through direct contact with infected blood. Hepatitis D is a rare form of hepatitis that only occurs in conjunction with hepatitis B infection. The hepatitis D virus can’t multiply without the presence of hepatitis B. It’s very uncommon in the United States. Hepatitis E Hepatitis E is a waterborne disease caused by the hepatitis E virus (HEV). Hepatitis E is mainly found in areas with poor sanitation and typically results from ingesting fecal matter that contaminates the water supply. This disease is uncommon in the United States. However, cases of hepatitis E have been reported in the Middle East, Asia, Central America, and Africa, according to the CDC. Autoimmune Hepatitis Autoimmune hepatitis is a rare form of chronic hepatitis. Like other autoimmune disorders, its exact cause is unknown. Autoimmune hepatitis may develop on its own or it may be associated with other autoimmune disorders, such as systemic lupus erythematosus. In autoimmune disorders, a misdirected immune system attacks the body’s own cells and organs (in this case the liver). Symptoms When symptoms occur, they can include: Jaundice (a yellowing of the skin and eyes) Abdominal pain Loss of appetite Nausea and vomiting Diarrhea Fever Clay-colored bowel movements Painful joints Yellowing of skin and eye Complications of hepatitis Chronic hepatitis B or C can often lead to more serious health problems. Because the virus affects the liver, people with chronic hepatitis B or C are at risk for: Chronic liver disease Cirrhosis Liver cancer When your liver stops functioning normally, liver failure can occur. Complications of liver failure include: Bleeding disorders A buildup of fluid in your abdomen, known as ascites Increased blood pressure in portal veins that enter your liver, known as portal hypertension Kidney failure Hepatic encephalopathy , which can involve fatigue, memory loss, and diminished mental abilities due to the buildup of toxins, like ammonia, that affect brain function Hepatocellular carcinoma, which is a form of liver cancer Death People with chronic hepatitis B and C are encouraged to avoid alcohol because it can accelerate liver disease and failure. Certain supplements and medications can also affect liver function. If you have chronic hepatitis B or C, check with your doctor before taking any new medications. 5 Likes |

Joana222: Dont worry. U would be fine. Pls run to NIMR(Nigeria institute of medical research) yaba, , lagos. They are the best in dealing with Hepatitis B and C. Its also a research center so u would be getting up to date information and treatment. Pls take this advice. From there, they would refer u to a standard lab such as mecure for the tests, then u come back with the result and they would advice u appropriately whether u need treatment or not. 1 Like |

SmallmebigGod: You are a scammer ...a bloody evil human being. Whatever you want to tell him in secret tell him here. Whatever hospital or link you want to give him, mention it in the open if your intentions are not evil. A lot of Nigerians are so cruel. It's just so annoying when I see people blame and curse out our leaders meanwhile majority of the masses are even more evil. Just look at the thread and see How they are all claiming to have solutions they can only mention in private. Tweh!! |

Joana222: Hepatitis C should only be managed by a sound health practitioner. Please, do not patronise all these online medicine men or practise self medication. Remember, hepatitis attacks the liver, so please do not stress or cause more harm by your actions. Stop alcohol intake and smoking if you currently indulged in them. Practise safe sex, and check your viral load. Hepatitis C has the normal strain and the fulminant strain. Reinfection usually makes it fulminant and that is very dangerous. Have lost 2 close friends to this disease and they both did self medication, indulge in alcohol and smoking. I still have people around me living healthily with it for decades. So, please go back to the hospital and follow through with treatment and counselling. You will be okay. 5 Likes 1 Share |

Re: I Tested Positive To Hepatitis C by Natpat: 9:29pm On Mar 11, 2019 |
There is no need for concern. Ensure you do the viral loading test before you take any further step. The result of the viral loading test may even dictate that you do not need to do anything. Another thing, if you're married or you live with relations, encourage them to undergo hepatitis vaccination. It is free in some public hospitals. This will ensure they are not infected through you or any other person. If you're are in Lagos, there is a Specialist in Egbeda area of Lagos that is an authority on hepatitis. You can google Dr. Onigbinde. He has written some books on that subject matter. All the best! |

Get some leaves of cashew, and all ingredients of jundice, add a handful of cutton wool seed, unripe pieanaple. Add water and boil it, take 4 glass cup a day for a month. You will not hear of it again and when you go for test it will surely be negative. I am saying this from a live experience, tested, used and trusted.
