The Headies Award was formerly called the Hip-hop World Award which kick-started in 2006 by the Hip-hop World Magazine of Nigeria. It is one of the highest musical and entertainment award in Nigeria.
The Headies Award is organized by Hip tv, a music station owned by Ayo Animashaun.

The Headies Award reviews and awards music artists who have made waves and outstanding achievements in Nigerian music in the year in review. Also, the winners are rewarded with a car.


The Headies Award 2019, the 12th edition will take place at Eko Convention Center Victoria Island, Lagos State. It has been tagged the C.A.R.E Edition.
The award session features Red carpet and performances by popular and established artists.

For this year, only the music that includes Audios and Videos released between July 2017 till date are qualified for nomination.


There are lots of categories in the Headies Award like the Next-rated which is the most anticipated as it highlights upcoming artists. Winners are chosen through voting by the public and an in-depth analysis BT the Headies Jury Members.


We would be shortlisting possible Next-rated Artistes who might be nominated in the 2018/2019 Headies Next-rated Artiste of the year award.
