That's like telling Obama you'll set a record by being the first Black presidential candidate to back down before the presidential election. As much as I don't trust Jonathan, who else do we have? |

The truth is i dont see GEJ doing any spectacular thing as far as changing the course of this country, the guy is just another thieving politician but i will rather die than have any of those ex-soldiers( IBB and Co) rule this country again. |

The work of Nigeria is not complete for as long as there is any one Nigerian who goes to bed on empty stomach. The work is not complete for as long as our people remain divided by avoidable mutual suspicions, distrust and ancient fears. There is still work to be done for as long as our youth roam the streets without food with meal tickets that cannot buy a meal. We all have work to do for as long as factories we have lie in waste or idle, our utilities remain undependable and outsiders who wish us well are reluctant to invest in our economy. We have a variety of ill-health afflictions, ignorance, and lack the ability to domesticate our environment for the service of our people. We are yet to benefit maximally from research and development, and from science and technology. Recent events have shown that we cannot take the unity of our country for granted. We see a new challenge in conquering new suspicions and demolishing the barriers of injustice and mutual distrust and antagonism. We must now replace clashes among faiths with faith in our nation. We must now represent the nation as an indivisible patrimony founded on justice, fairness and equity for all persons who live within our borders. And yet, we need to recognize the local peculiarities and divergent sensibilities that give us our unique strength and appeal. There is work to be done in evolving a system of governance that recognizes and accommodates these differences in a harmonious commonwealth. In this commonwealth, it ought to be possible for every Nigerian to pursue his faith while keeping faith with the nation and with one another. There is also work to do in the evolution of a stable family life and values, and in ensuring that the Nigerian family is built on core values that will form the bedrock of the future society. We must showcase the ideals of family life and be models of family values. Our approach to economic development must be modern, focused and in tune with the global trend. At the same, we need to remain sensitive to the reality that we are still an African society in which the majority of the people and communities live under severe deprivations and afflictions that are no fault of theirs. The state needs to combine a definite economic focus with a sense of compassion and justice towards all those who are unfortunately alienated from the fruits of their land. The state must develop a sense of care and balanced judgment in dealing with communal conflicts and clashes, and with neighborhood disagreements without sacrificing its responsibility for firmness and commitment to the maintenance of order so that the rule of law, justice and freedom can thrive. WORDS OF PRESIDENT IBB - 2011 |

@Theblessed, At one time you look like a politician and at other time you were seen prophesying like a man of GOD. Well the mind of the popular Nigerians is voting people like GEJ to head the affairs of the country so that power supply, fuel and many others will be available to every Nigerian. Well spoken :Theblessed" |

saintchux: saintchux, how do you know Goodluck WILL set the 24hrs light record? That's a little far-fetched, don't you think? I mean, the guy has shown no exceptionally outstanding signs of being a visionary leader. Now the president that will give Naija 24 hrs light will have my respect for life. THAT is a record. I live in one of the busiest capitals in the country and it's quite usual for us not to get a blink of light for days at a stretch. If GEJ can change all that dramatically then he has my respect; otherwise there's no fundamental difference between him and the rest. Those who are calling, begging, pushing, advising, e.t.c GEJ to vie for president should please leave him alone. We need to hear his own voice. If he has the political will, he'll contest and if that will is strong enough, he'll make damn sure that only the true winner emerges. More important than vying for office is the will to ensure performance and accountability. |

JAZES: The truth is that no Nigerian is ready to die for his rights.I believe Jonathan will make a positive change if allowed to continue but right now he is quite stagnant as a result of indecision. |
Re: Jonathan ‘ll Set Record By Not Contesting — Bamanga Tukur ! by madprof(m): 10:51am On Sep 08, 2010 |
hakimi: All this grammar so that IBB can come back? No thanks. Abagworo: He doesn't need to "continue" in order to produce positive change. The problem is that we keep seeing potentials and qualities in our leaders that they really do not possess. He should show us what he's got (which ain't much so far), then we'll see if he'll produce positive change if allowed to continue. His being stagnant simply shows that he either lacks the will to deliver, or just doesn't know what to do. |

Jonathan will also set a record by contesting, whether he contests or not, he sets a record. In fact, if I contest, I will set a record. We should be more interested in the record our leaders set in leadership, who cares about anybody's contesting records? |

@TheBlessed why do you always type in such bold/big coloured fonts? The combination of bold and coloured makes it difficult reading your post. |
Re: Jonathan ‘ll Set Record By Not Contesting — Bamanga Tukur ! by Theblessed(f): 5:02pm On Sep 08, 2010 |
Iranoladun: Thanks for you complaint! You see, everyone has freedom to do as they please, and this is mine. I expect people to respect my freedom just as I respect theirs. We all have our styles e.g. you wrote this comment in the colour/font of your choice, had I complained? No! Not that I particularly like it but for civility sake, I respect it. Also, you wear what you want to wear in the colours you want to wear them, same applies to me - so, what's the problem? Now, let's clarify this, do you really NEED to read my essays?? No, you don't! Then, if you can't read it please, just pass and that's more civil than attacking people, don't you reckon?? Just pass!! |

madprof:Johnathan as VP was in charge of delivering the 6,000 MW target by Dec 2009 Did he achieve it? No Some people have said he did not have executive powers (to act) But after taking executive powers how long did it take him to bring out a plan? 6months. And please study the plan and see how we are going backward and stagnating GJ is not taking us anywhere It is just like the OBJ PR stunts That shows that the man did not even have a plan when he was chair of NIPP The man is incompetent How many initiatives has he taken since he got into politics in 1999 Note that he was a governor between Dec 2005 and May 2007 BTW some people told us that he HAD delivered 24 hours power supply https://www.nairaland.com/nigeria/topic-433272.0.html This was in April this year! This is how sentiments drives us away from reality Abagworo:Indecision? How long did it take GJ to bury Ogbulafor for corruption And resurrect Nwodo who was also indicted for corruption in the ID card scam And of course, bury Patience Johnatan's case corruption case with EFCC? Johnathan is of the PDP, by the PDP and for PDP |

for me, the most irritating of them all is ATIKU. Always willing to put his desperation ahead of the collective good. He will now spend billions on expensive lawyers in an attempt to twart the process of governance, if he doesn't get his selfish way. Can't even stand the thought of IBB - I'm disgusted by his being. But that Atiku irritates, disgusts me even more!! |

As our system stands, it appers that only PDP candidades will win the election, so out of all those candidates who is better than GEJ? In a blind man land, one eyed person is the King. All the Northern candidates known up on till today, GEJ i betr than all of them put together. @mikeansy What does islam have to do with politics? You should be careful with the way you judge, otherwise people would think you are just another religious goon. The truth is, if we should look at zoning, then an hausa man should be the next president, it's only fair since this was the agreed plan made since the inception of democracy in this country. On the other hand if we should look at it constitution wise then an incumbent president has every right to contest for the post of presidency, it is the law and he should not be discouraged. The most important fact that people fail to realize is that jonathan is just a toy, he's too soft to command any real change and will always play to the tunes of those ever powerful forces in nigeria's political world. We need a president that can actually risk his life to make a change, a president with the fore sight of FASHOLA, the tenacity of OSHIOMOLE, the action of IDI- AGBON and the ever present wisdom of AWOLOWO. |

I SO MUCH WISH FOR JONATHAN TO CONTEST AND WIN 2011, THAT I WONT MIND IF THE ELECTION IS NOT FREE AND FAIR. AS LONG AS IT IS RIGGED IN FAVOUR OF GEJ. THE WORST THING THAT CAN HAPPEN TO NIGERIA TODAY IS FOR IBB TO WIN 2011. |
