Ghanaian man charged with wire fraud in US

A Ghanaian man has been charged with wire fraud in a court in the US according to some US media outlets.

The reports say 40-year-old Rowland Adjei Sapong was charged for allegedly selling at least 16 condominium units to buyers. He was reported to have recruited the buyers for the purpose of obtaining mortgage loans based on false applications.

The FBI which filed the complaint in US District Court alleged that Sapong bought homes in Worcester area between 2002 and 2007, “often securing financing through false statements on loan applications.”

He allegedly converted each home into two or more condominiums and sold each unit to a “straw” buyer, again obtaining financing for the transactions through false statements on loan documents, the FBI said.

The buyers, the reports added, made few or no payments, the properties fell into foreclosure and lenders sold the properties for a fraction of the value of the mortgages, the government alleged.

Sapong was arrested last week Tuesday at a residence in West Boylston, the government said.

He will appear in court again Monday August 23 2010.

The amount involved was not mentioned.

Cocaine under breasts, in vagina and anus

Ghanaian Student in Italy Busted

Accra, Aug. 23, GNA - A 24-year-old female student who allegedly hid 32 pellets of substances suspected to be cocaine under her breasts, three in her vagina and anus, on Monday appeared before an Accra Fast Track High Court.
Evelyn Payin, a Ghanaian domiciled in Italy was alleged to have told Narcotics Control Board (NACOB) operatives that the drugs were given to her by her boyfriend to be given to someone in Italy for 3,500 dollars fee.
Facing charges of attempted exportation of narcotic drugs and possessing drugs without lawful authority, the court presided over by Mr Justice Charles Quist did not take her plea but remanded her into police custody until September 3.
Prosecuting, Mr Asiamah Sampong, Principal State Attorney told the court that accused holds an Italian passport number 327573 issued to her on April 2005.
Sometime in August, this year, Evelyn was arrested at Kotoka International Airport (KIA) on suspicion that she had narcotic substances on her.
Prosecution said accused was billed to travel on board an Alitalia Airlines flight number AZ 845 bound for Italy.
He said a search on her body by operatives of NACOB led to the discovery of 32 pellets of substances suspected to be cocaine hidden in a pair of socks, placed in an artificial brazier on her breast.
During interrogation, prosecution said Evelyn admitted the offence and added that she had inserted a big pellet in her anus and two pellets in her vagina.
She was escorted to NACOB Office and under a 24-hour observation, expelled the three pellets saying they were given to her by her boyfriend Nana Yaw Asumani to be given to someone for 3,500 dollars fee.
He said the accused, however, failed to accompany NACOB officials to her boyfriend's residence to be arrested.
Prosecution said the drugs with gross weight of 800 grammes had been forwarded to Ghana Standards Board for analytical examination

Three Ghanaian Illegal Immigrants Arrested in Nigeria

Officials of Immigration Service in Ebonyi and the State Emergency Mangement Agency (SEMA) have arrested 49 immigrants in the area.

Mr Jacob Adeyinka, the Comptroller in-charge of the command, paraded the immigrants before newsmen on Sunday in Abakaliki.

He said the arrest was in line with the Federal Government's directive to clear the country of illegal foreigners before the April general elections.

Adeyinka said 38 of the immigrants were from Niger Republic, three from Ghana and four each from the Cameroon and Mali respectively.

He said the immigrants, who were arrested in the three senatorial zones of the state, had no official permits to live and work in Nigeria and with no reasonable source of livelihood.

"Majority of the immigrants are found with the National Identity cards and INEC voters'card for the April general elections," he added.

The Exceutive Secretary of SEMA, Mr Hyacith Oteh, said the immigrants, together with their families, would be deported to their respective countries after interrogation.

He said the immigrants continued stay in the country constitued a security risk, noting that they could be used to forment trouble during the elections.

Oteh urged the government to provide adequate logistics to agencies to enable it carry out effective operations.

Sarki Adamu Abubakar, one of the immigrants from Niger, who is married with two wives and children, claimed to be the traditional ruler of his people in Ebonyi, and had lived in the area for more than 20 years,

He appealed to the federal and state governments to allow them to establish a link with their home countries to save them from further hardship.

Ghanaian arrested with 16 international passports

The Nigeria Immigration Service has arrested a Ghanaian, Kofi Ansah, with 16 international passports.

The Comptroller-General of Immigration, Mr. Joseph Udeh, who announced the arrest of the Ghanaian at a news conference in Abuja, also said that one Obong Princewill Saturday, was arrested in Lagos while negotiating to obtain multiple passports.

Udeh said that Ansah was arrested by the Joint Border Patrol of Immigration and the Police with 10 Ghanaian passports, one American passport, one Nigerian passport, one French passport, one Belgian passport, one Netherlands passport and a Nigerian travel document.

On the other hand, the Immigration boss said that Saturday was nabbed while trying to obtain the fourth international passport at Ikeja, Lagos Passport Office.

The CG explained that while the suspected passport racketeer was negotiating to obtain an international passport, it was discovered by eagle eyed passport officer that he had already secured three international passports using different names.

Udeh who paraded the suspect before the Minister of Internal Affairs, Ambassador Mogaji Mohammed, warned that the Service was more than ever ready to confront passport racketeers.

He said that holders of multiple passports usually employ them for drug and human trafficking purposes.

Though the Ghanaian was not paraded, Udeh said that the two suspects would be handed over to the police for prosecution.

Mohammed advised Saturday to turn a new leaf urging him to see his arrest as a lesson.

"A young man like you should have been in school and not engage in shady deals. You must see your arrest as a lesson, which you should learn from," the minister said.

He commended the CG for the reorganisation going in the Service.

Ghanaian arrested for killing Abuja police commissioner

Say he was killed in error
A member of a seven-man robbery gang, Richard Nyako, from Ghana, yesterday gave a vivid account of how his gang killed the Commissioner of Police in charge of Mobile Police Force (CP, MPF), Mr. Felix Oteka, on December 5, last year, in Abuja, saying the deceased was killed in error.

Richard, who stated this while being paraded by the Inspector General of Police, Mr. Sunday Ehindero, along with other members of the gang, however, said the leader of the gang, identified simply as Prince, was on the run.

He said what happened on the day of the incident was that the gang had gone to rob the A.U.A. Shopping Complex in Abuja and was returning when the Honda Accord car used for the operation developed a fault and they were trying to rectify it when suddenly they heard the blast of siren.

“When we heard the siren, we thought the people we went to rob had alerted the police as we sighted a police Mazda van which we thought was on our trail.

“Immediately, our leader, Prince, along with Blessed and Uche, who carried sophisticated weapons, including AK-47 rifles, opened fire on the van to scare away the police, but we later learnt that it was the commissioner of police, who was just going on his own, that was inside the vehicle. He was shot and killed in the process,” he said.

Regretting the action, Richard said “we regretted our action, the commissioner of police was killed in error, nobody paid us a kobo to kill him, it was an accident, if we had known that nobody was on our trail, we would just have allowed him to pass and later continue with our operation.”

Its absolute baldarish to assume facts and presume insinuations. Nigeria isa typical failed state, period

grin grin grin grin grin grin grin grin grin At least we are not confused like you guys . If anyone believes in the potency and potentials of the black man in Africa to make his own mistakes and chart his eventual course to progress , as others were allowed to do in the history of the world , it is Nigerians and not you confused and slavish Africans who have not grown enough balls to get rid of colonial mentality. Why are you here ? Don't you have a white woman to go and search for?

I have a challenge for the entire forum. Please google Kenyan women love white men. Then do same again replacing Kenyan with Ghanaian and Nigerian. For 150 million that we are it seems the results confirm that it is us Nigerians who are most steadfast and proud of our identity. We see good in each other , as black folks,  more than those who are still colonially enslaved mentally . We believe in each other beyond rhetoric and wearing twenty nationalistic armbands !!!! Yet the colonially enslaved Africans wan't to come here and lecture us . Big joke grin grin You all should wait for us to sort ourselves out and then we will lead the continent out of colonial shackles we got rid of , for good ages ago , that the rest of you are still lumbered with. By the way , your women say you are "alcoholics" and you "suck in bed" !! What say you? It seems you are letting us black men down . Why don't you take some time off to listen to your women instead of coming here to trouble those who are secure in their identity?

KENYAN LADIES WITH WHITE MEN

I applaude all you ladies that have seen the light and opted to date white men instead of Kenyan men.

For a long time I dreamed of being with our own Kenya men but since most of them are not ready for us, we have to do what is right.

Kenyan guys (majority of them) are full of excuses - would rather be with the boys, are alcoholics, suck in bed, are not gainfully employed or educated and cannot look after us.

White men will LOVE you, wine and dine you, treat you with respect, the rest is always history and complete bliss.

Oh, Nigerian women definitely love white men. That's why they're all cheap prostitut3s in the white man's land. They can't get enough wrinkled pig d!cks.

The only way y'all would understand "identity" is if the word "theft" follows it.

You guys till going at it? I have always told people its only when people feel threatened that they begin to act unnecessarily. So if Ghana isn't threatened, why all the nonsense? I know Abrantie and co. will obviously think otherwise. Anyway, like I've always said, it's only a matter of time before Nigeria would retaliate and we sure know who suffers the most.
Re: Ghanaian Authorities Shut Nigerian Shops, Make Arrests by zains: 10:13am On Sep 16, 2010
A Psychiatrist just succeeded in diagnosing the confusing ailment being suffered by Abrantie and his dogs.

The disease is a form of psychosis named NOCD-- Nairaland Obsessive Compulsive Disorder It vigorously attacks their brains and makes them cling in a dirty manner to anything Nigerian.

It's comprehensive effects are still under intense examination but some obvious ones include various delusions and dis-illussions such as are common to habitual users of hallucinogens. i.e little progress acquire grandiose dimensions and bigger problems are summarily glossed over such as national issues.

It also manifests in the robotic fixation on other nations' issues while sweeping personal ones under delusional, psychological carpets. Sufferers also enjoy the ignorant bliss that comes from thinking personal and national problems will fade away if they constantly and religiously focus on other nations' issues.

There is no cure for now and none is in view even in the nearest future. Doctors and Caregivers have to be careful while treating them because they can get aggressive -both verbally and physically especially with the use of their talons, claws and teeth. The attack is likened to that of rabid dogs especially if diagnosis is correct. The acidic contents of their saliva can be injurious so keep safe distance.

PS: Research still continues. Please ignore the attacks.

This can only happen to an irresponsible elder .
when your younger one begin to overlook your staus.
way  to go ghana.
though you  may be smaller but indeed, you are wiser  as shown by  your choices.
Nigeria  is a irresponsible country with irresponsible leaders and followers  , yes , that right , me and you .
until we all change we shall continue to be  what? GOOD PEOPLE , GREAT  NATION in  our  dreams.
The leadership of this great country have continue to take us for a ride and we have continue to be  MAGAs, BOLO  etc,   why ?  because we are a bunch of irresposible followers  .   ir-responsibility means  "probably" NO RESPONSE TO SITUATION,   we have been acted on for many years but we have not acted on anything  that is why we have  countables heroes and heroines,  eg gani  fawehinmi, barister ubani, chinua achebe, tunde bakare, joe okei odumakin  , festus keyamo,  and other great that i cant recall  now.
if the bus fare is increased on your way home ,even when there is no justified excuse, people just grumble and start to pay, when you know that an NFF election is about to be done against a court order, you hear some people say funning things like we have no time or fifa would ban us , when fmr  president who look and smell like criminal are still celebrated like holly wood super star.

the truth is that nobody wants to die so we have decided to remain IR-REPONSIBLE-no responses to all of our many problems so we have decided to always blame only our country{leaders}  forgetting that people changed the bad government of the european country and asian tiger economies , south africa apartheid situation etc
HAVE NT  YOU EVER WONDER WHY MOST AFRICAN COUNTRIES ,ISLAND NATIONS INHABITED BY BLACK PEOPLE ARE ALMOST IN THE SAME STATE? no difference between haiti  and  guinea , try stone   obasanjo with your shoe  in nigeria  like pple did  to England fmr  prime minister and we are well on the way of becoming a great nation.
