The IBB's record achievements was when oil was under $20 per barrel and he had limited number of expertize working with him as a military dictator. Now, imagine today with Nigeria awash with money -oil is above $80 per barrel, and you have civilians with limitless expertize. Imagine all the technocrats at his disposal today, and what he can do with them. Babangida has these attributes: courageous (he kept Bakassi and Africa respected us under him), intelligent (well, self explanatory), Charismatic (knows Nigeria in and out and has friends all over Nigeria, he can mobilize Nigerians easily), visionary (most of his inventions in office are still with us -FEPA, NAFDAC, SSS, Option A4, etc). With him in charge, we can tackle almost anything in Nigeria. We can tackle restructuring and true federalism. I don't see any other candidate that can do these. |

I forgot to mention NDLEA which was created by IBB. The truth is that I can't remember all his achievements. |

and if PDP dont respond what will Northern Elders do? They have to remember that they cant wage a war against the rest of the country. Casualties will be crazy on both sides. Nigeria of today is now more integrated than before. If they threaten violence, their brother's in other parts of the country will die like chickens. SO, bring on the two weeks, their time of issuing nonsense threats have passed. This is a new generation, all that is needed is a credible leader and these elders dont have it. Two weeks will come and all we will hear is, *crickets* Empty barrels. |

PDP must adopt the zoning formula, GEJ is too weak and dihydrated to govern a multi-complex Nigeria, I feel sorry for those clamoring for this political feather weight, some one who can not win the position of youth leader in is community, GEJ, go back and explore the sevice of lecturing, your services are much more needed there, . . EVERY 10 infrastructure in Nigeria, 4 of if were created, developed or completed by IBB, we need an experienced man to cater for the dreams of the Nigeria people, that man is IBB . . . Massive Economic boast, Massive developmental strides Collosal educational reforms Malignant Transformation of Nigeria IBB will rule and Govern this Nation, the earlier you start getting used to your new president, the better for Nigerians . . . |
Re: Zoning: Northern Elders Issue 2-week Ultimatum To Pdp by Ikengawo: 6:04am On Sep 18, 2010 |
what southerners fail to realize is they are several times stronger then the north and if united our power players can compete with theirs easily. This wi is an empty threat. if they riot and try to kill us they will realize what kind of weaponary these igbo boys have been stock piling for all types of soviet weaponary sales, especially the ones from outside of igbo land and with control of the ports and coast the weapons that can keep flowing in. Plus the financial power the north is in power because nobody have aggressively pushed them off, it would cause a war and i personally feel it wont be worth it because as nigeria becomes more democratic they will gradually loose a grip. if we get rid of zoning it will be rare to see a popular northerner that can win an election, and as the military loses influence and the private sector begins to take its rightful throne, their inevitable fall will be minutes away. their power is based on medival social structures that can't survive a modernizing world. |

Ikengawo says: the north is in power because nobody have aggressively pushed them off, it would cause a war and i personally feel it wont be worth it because as nigeria becomes more democratic they will gradually loose a grip. That is the cruz of the matter. The northerners have failed strategically by investing all their resources in trying to control the military to gain a leverage and hold over power. However military rule in the world is becoming an abberation and such leaders are now usually treated with contempt by the rest of the civilised world. As Nigeria builds more democractically, the north become less relevant and therefore the present panic. The south will have an edge if they can seize the current momentum and see beyond 2015 if Nigeria still exist bt then. Going forward and without bringing sentiments such as ethnicity to politics, power will always be for the south to lose since they hold all the things that democracy survives on such as the propangada machinery (press and media) education cum bureaucracy, sound and private economy, resources, and above all freedom of worship and expression. I wish the south can just for a moment pause and think beyond the politics of who takes over come 2015. |

Did IBB really acheived all those as listed or they are just mere propaganda?Am not. Routing for IBB but which of our Past leaders are not as corrupt, evil and wicked as IBB? The irony of the matter is are they no other political party in this country that can rally round and present a credible candidate for us to vote to avoid this PDP mayhem. IMHO if IBB eventually became PDP candidate and he won the election on a very fair turf then kapish he is the candidates that Nigerians want. For arguments sake let someone outline the acheivements of other contenders also in this race for us to compare and contrast. IBB as a military man and as a poilitician should not be the thing o. Am not supporting IBB yet o,but just saying. |

shinaidowu: No, he didn't. Gowon built most of Nigeria's current infrastructure, from roads to bridges to refineries etc etc. All others have only come in to steal money and in IBB's case, kill any man, woman or child that disagreed in the slightest way. When last have we heard of troops going into schools to shoot students? . . .It was rampant in IBB's time. The man only deserves a very slow and painful death. |

Nobody is remembering Chief Ogbulafor whom GEJ went after because he was upright to stick on zoning. For using state machinenaries to witch-hunt political opponents, GEJ is not different from his drum boy OBJ. Naija is about to unleash another Monster. |

There will never be unity in southern Nigeria as it is known in the northern Nigeria. I am very happy the real northern Nigerians are drawing the line on the issue. My only problem is the status of Ndigbos' preparation in case Nigeria takes the path of chaos. @Metalgong According to PDP clauses, the northern region has every right to claim its presidential mantle. If there should be any war as a result of the recent political tussle and Ndigbo appear to be undecided on what to do, I shall waste no time to pitch my tent with northern region of Nigeria. |
Re: Zoning: Northern Elders Issue 2-week Ultimatum To Pdp by chyz(m): 12:54pm On Sep 18, 2010 |
Dede1: They have no plans like always. After the first days of riots Ohanaeze will issue a statement that say "Ndigbo will resist any attempts on the Igbo".Then they will go back to the SE and start praying to white jesus and wait for his deliverance. Its not smart to pitch ur tent with people that are out to kill you |
Re: Zoning: Northern Elders Issue 2-week Ultimatum To Pdp by Dede1(m): 1:25pm On Sep 18, 2010 |
chyz:If you really study what happened in 1967, the north region was not interested in fighting eastern region. They encouraged the southerners to do the fighting for them. The 1st Division of Nigerian army was a containment force to protect southeast plank of the northern region border if Nigeria will disintegrate into three countries. Again, my concern centers on the readiness of Ndigbo in case Nigeria goes ablaze. |

These Yorubas are saying they will go to war. Please. . . All talk. Did they go to war when the Abiola was thrown in jail? NO Did they go to war when Abacha (Known Yoruba Hater) was killing their people? NO These Yorubas are on their own. No Igbo will join them. Heck no Niger Delta will join them except for the Ijaws. Let them reap what they sow. Ude and Ikengawo. . . No Igbo shall join that cause. The Treachery of the Yoruba is still fresh in our mind. |
Re: Zoning: Northern Elders Issue 2-week Ultimatum To Pdp by sbeezy8: 4:16pm On Sep 18, 2010 |
MaziUche0: Abacha wasnt known yoruba hater- because there is no such thing as a "yoruba hater"- Abacha was on his own and was never a tool of the north. He killed those who opposed him, Fulanis -Yaraduas bro Shehu, He killed yoruba -Mko, He killed -Niger deltans saro wiwa ogonis and ijaws. At the time they were the ones who oppose abacha- while Ojukwu was being boy boy to him. If theres anything that a yoruba would fight a war for is a situation like Jonathan being killed like Mko abiola. anything other than that yorubas have no need to fight a war for what? Nigeria isnt the best country in the world so it isnt worth fight for. common sense bro But what you said is what I expected you to say- be boyboy to the north Just like Zik, just like ekwueme, just like Ojuwkwu- some of you people no get shame. smh When everyone in the south and middle belt is going right- you people will go Left |
Re: Zoning: Northern Elders Issue 2-week Ultimatum To Pdp by sbeezy8: 4:20pm On Sep 18, 2010 |
and igbo never went to war- The north brought the war to them by killing them senselessly before the war started. |
Re: Zoning: Northern Elders Issue 2-week Ultimatum To Pdp by Dede1(m): 4:20pm On Sep 18, 2010 |
MaziUche0: Even when the son of soil was murdered in Ibadan and many beautiful Yoruba women awkwardly hammered by drunken soldiers of Nigerian army from northern region of Nigeria, there was no fight from them. Yet the people were either busy swelling the ranks of Nigerian army to fight Biafra or lecturing us how July 29, 1966 coup was targeted against Ndidgbo. |
Re: Zoning: Northern Elders Issue 2-week Ultimatum To Pdp by MaziUche0(m): 4:22pm On Sep 18, 2010 |
sbeezy8: Last week you were singing a different tune saying how the North is the Yoruba's friend. But they told your boy Saraki to sit down and know his place and now you are singing a different tune. The Hausa-Fulani do not even treat Muslim Yorubas as their brothers. They see you all having a Yoruba agenda which is funny indeed. No one should ever question the Igbo, because we have fought a war. You Yorubas are all talk. Your bark is worse than your bite. That is why no one takes the Yoruba seriously. Fulani can fight people in Ekiti, nothing happens. Hausa can fight Yorubas in Lagos, nothing happens. They would never try that mess in Alaigbo. Cowardly people. . . So you all will be fighting alone. BTW, ABACHA definitely hated the Yorubas. |

Re: Zoning: Northern Elders Issue 2-week Ultimatum To Pdp by MaziUche0(m): 4:24pm On Sep 18, 2010 |
Dede1: Very true. Only a few Yorubas have earned my respect like Fajuyi and Wole Soyinka. The rest of the Yoruba Nation is not worth a grain of salt. Who should take them seriously? When only .5% of them are brave while the rest are cowards. Is it interesting that the brave Yorubas are mostly from the same family? Fela Kuti and Wole Soyinka are from the same family. |
Re: Zoning: Northern Elders Issue 2-week Ultimatum To Pdp by sbeezy8: 4:26pm On Sep 18, 2010 |
Dede1: what son of the soil was murdered? are you talking about Akintola that was murdered by the "igbo coup" MaziUche0: IVE NEVER SAID THE NORTH WAS YORUBAS FRIENDS- ITS EVIDENT YORUBAS DONT HAVE FRIENDS WE HAVE BEEN SAYING THAT FOR THE LONGEST TIME - ALLIANCES ARE TEMPORARY AND NEVER PERMANENT. AND RIGHT NOW THE BEST OUT THERE IS JONATHAN AND THE NIGER DELTANS. |
Re: Zoning: Northern Elders Issue 2-week Ultimatum To Pdp by sbeezy8: 4:28pm On Sep 18, 2010 |
Dede1: NO DOUBT NORTHERNERS WERE KILLING IGBO LIKE FOWLS before the war started- but what can I say the coup WAS an "igbo coupe" and igbos did kill EVERY premier of EVERY REGION. that was just dumb- |
Re: Zoning: Northern Elders Issue 2-week Ultimatum To Pdp by MaziUche0(m): 4:28pm On Sep 18, 2010 |
sbeezy8: You are a dammn liar! Was it not you that said that the north would vote for a Muslim Yoruba? They told Saraki to sit down even though he had some "Fulani" blood in him. What do you think they would say to Fashola? ha ha ha ha This is how they treat their allies who defeated the Ndi Igbo. We Igbos already know they feel about us so it is no surprise. It is you Yorubas and Ijaws who fought against Biafra who were used as pawns. Only the Hausa-Fulani elite know how to play the politics game. |
Re: Zoning: Northern Elders Issue 2-week Ultimatum To Pdp by MaziUche0(m): 4:29pm On Sep 18, 2010 |
sbeezy8: Yea we should have dealt with Awolowo. . . Instead of releasing him. Awolowo was in our grasp. That man owed his life and many other Hausa officers in the East were spared, because of Ojukwu. Remember that. . . |
Re: Zoning: Northern Elders Issue 2-week Ultimatum To Pdp by sbeezy8: 4:31pm On Sep 18, 2010 |
MaziUche0: did they not vote for Mko? What are you saying? MKO won in all areas of the North EXCEPT HAUSA-FULANI states. A muslim yorubas is different than a christian EVERYONE KNOWS THAT. its a known fact the NORTH doesnt like igbos- but in the north the only people who dont like yorubas are plain hausa-fulani- I know that and its Ok. Because yorubas dont want to have a deal with Hausas-fulani WE WANT TO DIVIDE THEM FROM THE REST OF THE MUSLIM NORTHERN TRIBES. Igbos like you never think with common sense. |

How many people did Charles Taylor kill - directly or indirectly? How many did Gowon kill ? While Charles is been humiliated in Hague now, the grand Killer(Gowon) is walking about a free man. The Days of Nigeria as a country are numbered! |
Re: Zoning: Northern Elders Issue 2-week Ultimatum To Pdp by MaziUche0(m): 4:37pm On Sep 18, 2010 |
sbeezy8: Different situation. I still think Abiola election was rigged. Many people still think he cheated his way, so what does that tell you? Free election my arse. . . The Hausa-Fulani rule the north. Whatever the Sultan of Sokoto says, the rest of the North will follow. You don't understand how much power that man has. There is no north without the Hausa-Fulani. Remember that. Now we Igbos will sit on the sidelines and watch how this turns out. This could kill two birds with one stone. The North who I really don't have a problem with, will deal with the Ijaws and the Yorubas. |

I do not know much about Fajuyi but I had been informed he was a progressive officer. There were three set of Yoruba stock that earned my utmost respect. They are Wole Soyinka, Lt. Col Ayo Ariyo and Ijabu Ode cocoa farmers association. Wole stood against Nigerian war policy towards Biafar and secretly visited Biafra before jailed by Nigerian government led by Gowon. Lt. Col Ayo Ariyo, one of the finest officers Nigerian had ever produced. He was Sandhurst trained military officer and was 2ic of 3MCDO in Calabar. After short stay in Calaber in 1967, Ariyo left for Lagos and resigned his commission from Nigerian army instead of fighting Ndigbo and Biafrans. I urge every person to remember the family of Ariyo. I heard his son was given a title in Igbo land. The peasant Ijabu Ode farmers staged was strongest protest against Gowon and Nigerian army in 1967. It took the battle tested elements of 8th battalion under Major Ochefu to subdue them. |
