Kwara State 2011 : Olusola Saraki Endorses Daughter's Gubernatorial Ambition by Metalgong1(m): 9:40pm On Sep 18, 2010
By DEMOLA AKINYEMI, Ilorin

Dr Olusola Saraki yesterday endorsed the bid of his daughter, Senator Ruqayyat Gbemisola Saraki, to become the governor of Kwara State on the platform of the PDP, but the state leadership of the party differed

The publicity secretary of the party, Alhaji Isiaka Danmairomo, in a statement, noted that the party leadership has not endorsed anybody for any elective post as the party guideline is very clear on it.
Saraki had earlier addressed a mammoth crowd at his great hall, along Olorunsogo in Ilorin, where he made the endorsement, that they should all register and peacefully cast their votes in ensuring that Gbemisola emerges as the next governor.

All senators from the three districts of the state and the six members of the House of Representatives, including all the council chairmen, state legislators, party leaders and party chieftains were conspicuously present.

Alhaji Toyin Sanusi, chairman of ALGON, who spoke on behalf of council chairmen in the state, the senators, party leaders and members of the House of Assembly, among others, had asked Saraki to give them his daughter as the next governor, the way they asked for the outgoing Governor Bukola Saraki in 2004.
Responding, he explained that he endorsed their call, noting however that the former speaker, Hon Bio Ibrahim, now minister, reportedly obtained gubernatorial form without his consent but that he has the right to enforce his constitutional right to garner little votes he could get.

He added that his endorsement of his daughter was borne out of his desire to ensure that the achievements of Governor Bukola Saraki are not only rubbished but consolidated upon because he is proud of him.

Since it is clear PDP cannot win any election in any part of Nigeria without rigging it, it would make sense for Jonathan & INEC to allow d geniue results to stand in Kwara State. It is no more a secret dat Saraki is a potential rival in d primaries, why not withdraw d largesse of stolen votes d Saraki's have enjoyed for a while now when it has become apparent dat they are getting too big for their boots and are in fact about to bite d hands dat feed them infecting dat hand with incurable rabbies.

Just like 1983 Kwara might go AC if Gbemi was allowed to run.

As 4 d primaries, Gbemi would face a stiff competition with Bukola, at least according to the "The Nation" story, the elder Saraki himself confirms Bukola is backing the sport minister, Bio. So seems there's going to be some actions and fierce battle btw the governor and his father. The general election is going to be another issue entirely, Dele Belgore of the AC would definitely and also give them some headache.

It is amazing how the champions of zoning can not practice zoning in Kwara.

Oh sorry may be they have zoned Kwara Governorship to their family for life.

@kokoA, Well said, na de fear-fear attitude plus ignorance dey kill people for the state, believing that the man saraki is sort of invincible, imagine. Majority there believing that, anybody who has the gut to really show a genuine contest against him will die untimely death as in eg, Lawal and General Adisa or got wretched as in the case of Adamu Attah, Shaba Lafiagi.

Kwara 2011: Saraki endorses daughter, Gbemi •PDP says NO

Written by Yekini Jimoh Sunday, 19 September 2010

THE godfather of politics in  Kwara State, Dr. Abubakar  Olusola Saraki, on Saturday endorsed Senator Gbemisola Saraki as Kwara State governorship candidate for the 2011 governorship election in the state.

The epic event, which took place at the Mandate Campaign House at Olorunsogo, Ilorin, witnessed the presence of the bigwigs in Kwara politics
Dr. Saraki, who said the people’s wish must be followed, noted that calls by the people that Gbemi should be the next governor made him to endorse her, adding that the incumbent governor, Dr. Bukola Saraki, did not dissappoint the people of the state so  Senator Gbemisola Saraki will not dissappoint them also if elected as the next governor of the state.

He appealed to the people of Kwara State to give Gbemisola the maximum support so that she can win the election.

Dr. Saraki noted that he was awear that the Minister of Sport, Honourable Bio Ibrahim, had bought form adding that he will get to nowhere.

He promised that his love for the people of Kwara will not stop as he thanked them for staying with him over the years.

Meanwhile, following the endorsement on Saturday, the PDP in Kwara State has said that the endorsement is not accepted by the party.

Addressing newsmen shortly after the endorsement of Senator  Saraki as the governorship candidate, the publicity secretary of the party in the state, Alhaji Isiaka Danmairomo, said the Kwara State Executive Council and prominent chieftain of the PDP were all conspicuously absent at the venue.

He said that no notable PDP member was present at  the ceremony.

According to him, the party was not aware that any candidate had been so endorsed as the party guidelines were very clear on the emergence, adding that no part of the guidelines  empowers any individual or group of people except the party to conduct the primaries that will produce standard bearers.

There is a serious madness going on in Kwara State and its like apart from the Sarakis, other citizens are morons who are not good for anything other than praise singing "Saraki, Ranka dede, Sai Saraki, no one else but you".

Dr. Saraki, who said the people’s wish must be followed, noted that calls by the people that Gbemi should be the next governor made him to endorse her

A bloody lier - The man once said on his way to Mecca that he would seek the face of God and that whoever God chooses for the position, such he would endorse. Now its no longer the voice of God but that of imaginary Kwarans.

Responding, .  .  .  . noting however that the former speaker, Hon Bio Ibrahim, now minister, reportedly obtained gubernatorial form without his consent but that he has the right to enforce his constitutional right to garner little votes he could get.

This man surely knows how to play God over the Kwarans.
