You seem to be the only person who does not know that the federal government of Nigeria blockaded Biafra from air, land and sea and prevented aid organisations such caritas. Red cross and the UN from shipping in food.

Infact, the red cross got so frustrated at the Nigerian government that is started flying in food at night into Uli Airport.

Unfortunately, airplanes cannot carry as much load as ships so the little that was flown in was not enough so people starved to death unnecessarily.

It was the duty of the Government of Gowon to have opened the port to aid shipment to Biafra but he didnt

Thanks so much jare, but what brought about the blockade? what are they shipping into Biafra. And don't forget to add Awolowo policy to the excuse of hunger in the land.

...but Biafra soldiers were growing fat while the children were dying of hunger... how do they get their own food.

You have listened to the Biafran propaganda for so long!

The FG allowed for a safe land corridor for humanitarian aids to pass to Biafran CIVILIAN population but Lt Col Ojukwu rejected the offer but instead insisted that the FG should allow free passage of Ships (used to smuggle weapons) to Biafra.

Without the total blockade, Biafran Civil war would have lingered till 1975-1980 , causing the deaths of more people.

Now, answer these questions;

1) Which Government said no? Was it the Government of Biafra or the Federal Government of Nigeria?

2) Why did Biafra allow Nigeria to determine Biafran access to the sea?

3) Did Biafra consider how she will feed her teeming population during the war without relying on the cooperation of Nigeria?

4) Did the FG have right to determine what come and go out of Nigeria?

Using starvation as a tool to fight war is a war crime, it's one of the reasons former President of Liberia, Charles Taylor, is in jail

It cannot be that organisations like the red cross and UN are seeking to bring in food supplies into Biafra so as to alleviate the suffering of civilians and the government says no.

That is wrong on all levels and should be condemned by every right thinking person

You should not have given him expo, he needs to thank you for this.

...and the food supplies managing to come in were diverted/waylaid by their soldiers for their own upkeep.

Just analyse what you said. How can ships sail into Biafra? Which sea port in Biafra would they come to? The only sea ports Biafra had at that time was port Harcourt and Calabar seaports and had been captured by Nigeria

What Ojukwu agreed to was that relief supplies would be shipped by aid organisations and also distributed by them. The problem was that Gowon insisted that it would be his military government that would conduct the distribution themselves and Ojukwu could not take that risk. It would have been suicide for Ojukwu to have allowed armed Nigerian Soldiers into Biafra under the guise of food distribution, those Soldiers could easily have launched an attack on Biafra its self

It was the government of Nigeria's duty to see that aid gets into Biafra as it is well known that aid organisations such as red cross and the United nation will not smuggle weapons for nobody.

uncle, where are you getting your info...
What Gowon want was inspection of relief materials going to biafra land not helping to distribute relief materials.

Sir, where were Ojukwu, Chinua Achebe, Sir Louis Mbanefo and the Biafran soldiers getting their foods from? Why weren't they malnourished?

1) It's a great lie that Gowon said it's Nigerian soldiers that will be distributing foods to Biafran population.

2) What led to the total blockade in the first instance? It was because Nigerian Military searched a suspected International aid plane and weapons were found in it.

3) No serious country at war will allow ships and planes unfettered access to it's opponents during war time.

4) Next time before you start Biafran Civil war-2, think and plan how you will set aside some people to be growing foods crops for your population and how you will have access to the outer world i.e seaports.

5) Gaza has been under land, air and sea blockade by The State of Israel for many years.
Nothing goes in or out of Gaza because Israel want to ensure it's own security.

Today, Gaza is more or less a very large open air prison.

So, Yoruba/Hausa soldiers should go to the farm, harvest their crops, then send it to Biafra land for your soldiers to eat while you were killing Yorubas/Hausas. It surprises me that a whole region can be full for senseless people.

This is foolish talk. It's like someone asking to see a malnourished Buhari, Soyinka and Burutai before they believe that the economy is bad and many Nigerians cant afford 3 square meals

1) It's a great lie that Gowon said it's Nigerian soldiers that will be distributing foods to Biafran population.

Oh really? So what is the truth then? The truth is is that Gowon gave Ojukwu an option that was not possible. To allow the federal government into Biafra with armed Soldiers was not an option. Gowon should have allowed the aid organisations to do their job of food distribution

2) What led to the total blockade in the first instance? It was because Nigerian Military searched a suspected International aid plane and weapons were found in it.

The blockade was in force as soon as the federal government captured the seaports and borders. You said that the federal government found weapons aboard an aid plane? Tell us the name of the aid organisation that use this plane to bring I'm weapons and what airport this plane landed in. There is no aid organisation that will fly in weapons for anyone.

3) No serious country at war will allow ships and planes unfettered access to it's opponents during war time.

True, but that was not the issue. The issue was distribution

4) Next time before you start Biafran Civil war-2, think and plan how you will set aside some people to be growing foods crops for your population and how you will have access to the outer world i.e seaports.

First of all, the Biafrans did not start a war. The Biafrans declared their independence and went their way. They were enjoying their new country when you Nigerians came to the East to fight for "one Nigeria". It should also be noted that the main reason Ojukwu declared Biafra was that Gowon broke the Aburi agreement both men signed in Ghana

Secondly, Biafra had everything it needed to grow it's own food and feed its self. The problem was displacement. Displaced people who are moving from place to place due to war have no way of feeding themselves because they have to abandon their farm lands and source of livelihood when war comes to their community and wherever they go, they only add to the number of mouths to feed because they are refugees.

5) Gaza has been under land, air and sea blockade by The State of Israel for many years.
Nothing goes in or out of Gaza because Israel want to ensure it's own security.

Yes Gaza is under blockade but do you hear anything about Israel starving the residents of Gaza to death? The people of Gaza may not have access to all they need to live, they may not even have food all the time, but Israel is not deliberately cutting off all sources of food supply to them. Israel still allows food and medical supplies into Gaza.

The issue here is that Nigeria used starvation as an instrument of war as many people, particularly children, starved to death. This is not only a war crime, it is genocide

Nobody is saying that the Nigerian government should feed Biafran Soldiers. The federal government should have allowed aid into biafra

You may not believe this but under the Geneva convention which Nigeria is a signatory to, captured enemy Soldiers are to be taken care of and fed. This is international law

So anyone who thinks that the Federal government is justified in starving civilians to death because some of the food might be eaten by Biafran Soldiers is just wrong.

the fact of the matter is that the real reason why the fulani junta shifted the democracy day from the 29th of May to the 12th of June is because of the successful carrying out of the 30th May biafra heroes day under the auspices of ipob over the years!!!

oh yes, you didn't know?! ipob is the only bone in the neck of the british-fulani owners of the zoo corporation and the rest of the wahala like boko (money spinner for the military-industrial complex), militants (easily settled with pipeline contracts), bandits (the new boko), kidnappers, ritualists, murderers, armed robbers, unemployment, poor healthcare, poor road network, hunger, mother/infant mortality, lowest electricity generation in recent years etc no dey even see ipob back when it comes to the level of seriousness with which the british-fulani overlords of the zoo take the issue!!!

I am so proud of MNK and his men in what they have managed to achieve in such a small space of time!!!

if you seriously think that britain was not consulted before the democracy day was shifted from the 29th to the 12th by the fulani mafia, then you are just a pillock in zoogerian politics!!!

just look at how unwieldy the whole caboodle is set up to be now!!!

what exactly are the leaders of the foreign nations (should we believe what is coming out of aso rock) coming to the shiithole to do on the 12th?!

to attend a wasteful government's extravaganza when those civilized governments know for sure that the zoo is the center of poverty on earth and that the fulani towel heads in government should have done a low key event on the 29th and gone to work straightaway in tackling the multifarious challenges her embattled citizens are encountering?!

so for the next 2 weeks pressing matters of state would be kept on the back burner as this most unserious government goes about planning a carnival of sorts in order to get the whole world to legitimize their brazen criminality?!

guys, ipob's sit at home successful implementation over the years is the ONLY reason the date was changed because the british-fulani hegemony could no longer bear to have a successful sit at home coming a day after they just had a renewal of their contract to keep siphoning niger delta oil free of charge!!!

the buy-in to the sit at home by our eastern neighbours is on the ascendancy and other contiguous regions to the east would soon come all out to declare their unalloyed support!!!

the british-fulani hegemony know that zoogeria is in its death throes and all these their last minute panicky counter-measures to forestall the tearing up of the zoo are futile!!!

biafra heroes day has come to stay and the memories of ALL those killed by the british-fulani imperialists shall NEVER be forgotten!!!

freedom is at the door my people!!!

let us just hold on a little more in patience!!!

biafra shall NEVER EVER die!!!

the international interventionist invaders are soon coming to the shiithole to tear zoogeria to pieces and we, the great easterners, are SOO gone from the shiithole ASAP, AMEN!!!

When I read comments of people from other tribes it is so obvious we can never be one. I keep wondering why it is so important that we stay as one Indivisible country when it is obvious we are heading for crises. Please give me reasons why we should be one with so much differences and hate.
