i can't think of an african election with more at stake.

nigeria is set to grow at 10% this coming year, which would rank it with the BRICS in growth.
BUT if jonathan loses the militants have declared they will tear the oil that this growth is based on apart and destroy facilities, likely at a rate that surpasses what they were doing before.

on top of that the north is mounting up to say it's their 'turn'. If this election goes the wrong way, or the wrong pin drops we're looking at a serious powder keg situation.

and if a nation of 150 is set ablaze you have 150 refugees that would crush the economies and food supply of the rest of africa (imagine 1/4 of the worlds black population flooding into countries who's economies aren't supporting populations of 15 and 20 million citizens)

and the real election is the PDP primary. ACN isn't going to win and nothing else compares.

now, lets say everything goes well, then nigeria will be held in the same regard as Ghana as a country in africa that has got the democracy thing 'right'

this sign of stability will lead to a predicted flood of investment that can eclipse the current already high rate of FDI. (the world is waiting for a stable nigeria and a fair and free election is the ultimate sign of stability)

this election is literally going to make or break nigeria.
