You’ll Regret Dumping Pdp, Dampass Tells Mohammed Abacha by HighChief4(m): 1:35am On Sep 29, 2010
BARELY four days after Mohammed Abacha, son of the late former military head of state, defected to the Congress for Progressive Change (CPC) from the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), a prominent chieftain of the Kano chapter of the PDP, Alhaji Gambo Danpass, has declared that the young Abacha would soon regret his action.

Mohammed, who surprisingly dumped the Kano PDP, the platform for his gubernatorial ambition,Wednesday, last week, attributed his exit to the alleged injustice perpetrated by the party’s leadership in the sale of delegates and elective office forms in Kano recently.

But Danpass, who was a presidential campaign coordinator to the late Alhaji Abubakar Rimi, described Mohammed Abacha’s decision as a political misadventure, saying that his gubernatorial ambition in the CPC would turn out a mirage, as, according to him, “all the juicy positions have already been shared”.

His words: “There is no way Mohammed Abacha would become anything in CPC, as positions have already been shared. Besides, you don’t assume because you have money, then you automatically walk into any party and buy a position. You have to work for it. Those who are nursing ambition for elective offices on the platform of the CPC worked for it.”

Also, Dampass dismissed as baseless and false claims that the leadership of the PDP in Kano has been pocketed by Rabiu Musa Kwankwaso, whose political divide, the Kwankwasiyya, controls the party’s machinery. He said that instead of rewarding Kwankwaso for his inestimable contributions to the party, he is being blackmailed.

He said: “It is wrong for people who gave little to expect too much. The former governor should be seen and regarded as the pillar of the PDP in Kano and he is the only person that remains a threat to the ANPP in Kano.”
