If a fight occurs between a man and a woman and the woman goes physical, wouldn't it be sexist if the guy doesn't retaliate?

Hi,

My name is etrange.

I believe such a person is not a sexist.

It's sad that we use these stories of women hitting men to undermine the struggles of feminism. Discussing feminism on the bases of physical combat reduces the whole concept to a joke. Why? Because the way a man handles a woman in terms of physical combat has little to do with feminism actually. It's more of morality and social violence and also reflects on the way he handles anybody he happens to superior to including his employees, servants, etc. regardless of their genders. Yes, I used the word superior because biologically, men are stronger than women in general terms (feminism does not argue this). You'd be criticised if you beat up a helpless man just as much as you'd be criticised if you beat up lady. Likewise, a woman who hits a man or refuses to hit one is not a sexist or a feminist. This is because defining such behaviours along gender lines indirectly condones violence against people of the same gender.

Feminism is not about how you should react if lady hits you or whether a lady should even hit a man in the first place. Those are moral codes of conduct guiding how to relate with people who are helpless before you regardless of gender. It's therefore unbecoming to rope in feminism into such things. But then again, I understand why most men do that. Physical strength is one area where it is given that the masculine gender is stronger and therefore the anti-feminists work hard to bring the discussion around this sweet spot hoping to score points.

Feminism is about equality in social construct. It's about motives. It's about getting rid of the prejudice - because she's a woman. A man who refuses to hit a lady back even when it's obvious he's stronger is a man who does not fight helplessness and would not beat up an elderly man or a small boy in the same circumstances so it's not about the sex. On the other hand, if you hit a woman, you're not chauvinistic, you're simply violent. And it'd still be violent if you hit fellow man. There's a struggle agaisnt violence but that's not feminism.

Thanks.
