One of our problem in this country is we always want to be on top even when we have not done so wonderfully well in our preparattions. You win some and you lose some. The most important thing is we have qualified for the next round. Let’s apprecaite these guys, they have done well but not to our expectation. We can only offer our words of encouragement and allow them focus on the next game. Nigerians!!! 4 Likes |

Very correct analysis jare.. All these average white tacticians... Afraid to take risks..even afraid to tinker with formation..Afraid to make substitutions ....How could u continue with a lone man striker playing a compact ,disciplined team like Madagascar... What was osimhen and onuachu doing on the bench...how do u use a one-dimensional make shift winger like musa when natural wingers like chukwueze ,onyekuru and moses simon sat on d bench...who brings in a defensive midfielder to play against a defensive team...no width in d game as awaziem is not a true wingback... We have a solid team but a useless coach who has been experimenting since 2015..yet to sort out his first team ..against highline defences...iwobi musa would thrive because there are spaces to run into and musa is fast while iwobi can pick a pass...buh against compact high pressing teams...skillful wingers like chukwueze, moses simon and an aerial threat of a striker like onuachu would thrive simple..haba!!!..( hope they've learnt their lessons) worldclass68: Iamgrey5: 5 Likes 1 Share |

Exactly wat I thought too...they were putting in crosses for nobody..when onuachu wud have given ighalo some space...d only winger we have that could beat defenders comfortably was chukwueze buh probably they still see him as a young inexperienced lad even after his exploits with Villarreal...at least he would have been a handful for the Madagascan defence who were just too comfortable throughout the match..a lot of freekicks would have gone our way...the coach really needs to figure out his first team fast bobochem: |

roomus: Figure out his first team?? He's been doing that since 2015, chopping and changing in every darn game and he still doesn't have it! Rohr is a lost cause. Let's just take whatever we get from this AFCON, sack him and come back home to start all over again. 4 Likes |

Today's performance by the Super Eagles was disgraceful. Very poor and predictable tactics. No mobility from the players and school boy defending to name but a few. It's not so much about the result, I mean the Super Eagles registered only one short on target and looked like a team that wouldn't score even if they were given an extra 90-minutes. It's time to call a spade a spade, Gernot Rohr has this team playing well below their potential with absolutely no identity. This team can't score against a defensively compact team, lacks creativity in the midfield, has a shaky defence and suspect goal keepers. So much for a coach who had so much time to prepare for this tournament. The NFF need to read the riot act to Gernot Rohr, such mediocre outings should not be tolerated forthwith. Talking about the NFF, I hear the players match bonuses have not been paid! I just tire! 1 Like |

with this 2:0 defeat,i am now confident that Nigeria will carry the cup. If Nigeria had won today's game, they would not carry the cup. But there is also a likelihood that Egypt and Madagascar will play the final, if for some reasons Nigeria fails to reach the final. But i believe Nigeria will reach the final and carry the afcon cup 3 Likes |

beauty7: You understand am. German female team had not conceded a goal through out their world cup campaign but yesterday they lost to an inferior Swedish team with a goal difference. Spain in 2010 lost a match. In Champions League, Barcelona always go undefeated till they fail in quarter finals or semi finals. Liverpool this year lost two group stage matches. There's always that thing that makes a favorite who loses or draws a match with a presumed weaker opponent during the group stage to sit up and win the final. 5 Likes |

Kenturkey048: Players probably dragged their feet in sulk over delays in bonuses and what they perceive as corruption and persistent shambles in NFA organisation. And they probably expect public support if they say they lost the match purposefully in protest. The horrible thing is people would actually support them. It is this our misplaced or questionable sense of priority that creates overblown entitlement among the people. |

Just like I predicted here after the Guinea match. Nothing to lose for them(Madagascar) and there's nothing stopping them from winning their remaining two matches(Burundi and Nigeria) which of course they did... but our clueless coach made things easier for them. Too many changes. Total of five changes. It doesn't help team chemistry. There's a reason some coaches play the same starting eleven every week for like two or three months. I understand the need to play Mikel in this game, but why pairing him with John Ogu.. another slow ball hugging midfielder. Etebo, Ogu and Mikel trio lacked mobility, it was easily overran by the Malagasian, even in possession they hesitated to release the ball allowing the opposition to regroup their defensive line which means that our midfielders had no option than to passed it back to our defenders/keeper or aimlessly lob it forward to Ighalo. Without the ball they did a poor job of protecting their back four. Thirdly, our coach in-game management/adaptation is very poor. In the first half alone, Ighalo committed like 9 fouls, meaning that he was having a bad game. Dude literally lost all the aerial ball, was more interested in drawing non existent foul. His first substitution should have been Iwobi 4 Ogu/Mikel. Bringing Ndidi on 4 Ogu means we were playing with three defensive midfielders (when we ain't trying to protect a lead but trying to score a goal) who does that? Maybe Ernesto Valverde!! Fourth, he removed Kalu in exchange for Simon. Dragged Musa to the right. How can you play Musa as a right winger when he's not left footed? When we have a tested & trusted winger in Chukwueze? Musa on the right winger didn't help d team's structure cox he didn't know his position, whether as an invited right forward or part of a four man midfield. No need to attack Leon Balogun, we win as a team, we lose as a team. Simple. Positives = defensively Awaziem is not bad. Though he can reduce those unnecessary fouls. Iwobi = his football IQ is ahead of his teammates(midfielders), he knows the theory of space & timing, pass accuracy, shots, when to drive the ball forward, switch play, even though his indecision in the final third can be boring as fvck, he's still better than Ogu, Mikel and Etebo. Congratulations to Madagascar, their off the ball movement were superb, pressurized our midfield/defense into committing schoolboy error(s). 3 Likes 1 Share |
