AFCON Quater Final

Nigeria vs South Africa:

Wed 10 july

Time: 8pm

Venue: Cairo International Stadium.

Nigeria will take on South Africa in the quarter-final of this year’s Africa Cup of Nations.

The Super Eagles eliminated defending champions Cameroon in their Round of 16 clash on Saturday.

Gernot Rohr’s men won 3-2, despite losing 2-1 at the break.

Bafana Bafana shocked hosts Egypt later in the day.

Stuart Baxter’s men were not given a chance against the Pharoahs, but produced a fine display of counter-attacking football to win 1-0.

Thembinkosi Lorch grabbed the winner with five minutes left.

Nigeria vs South Africa will be played on July 10 at the Cairo International Stadium.

Kick off is 8pm West African time.

South Africa is most organized team in the tournaments, I have been watching their game for a long time, they have a solid defefence, and fast attack, they will beat super eagle if eagle play the way they played against Cameroon

Gernot Rohr's strength is that he tailors his game plan in accordance with his next opponent. That means that his tactics are always unpredictable.

Rest assured that we wont play South Africa the same way we played Cameroon!

The strategy would be to slow them down and force them to play to our style. They will be disorganised and become frustrated. We will cash in on their frustration and the resultant mistakes to score again and again and again.!

Minna — The immediate past Nigeria Ambassador to South Africa, Ahmed Ibeto has disclosed that the recurring incidences of murder involving Nigerians were being carried out by Nigerians themselves contrary to claims of xenophobic attacks.

In an interactive session with journalists shortly after the presentation a letter of intention to vie for the governorship of Niger state on the platform of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) on Monday in Minna, Ibeto said from the statistics of killings and their remote and immediate causes available to the Nigeria Embassy, most of the incidences were as a result of conflict between Nigerians.

"I can authoritatively tell you from the evidences we have that out of four of such killings involving Nigerians, three are by Nigerians themselves as a result of rivalry, shady deals, cultism and drugs," he said.

He said in most cases, the conflict is as a result of territorial control between drug barons which often results in deaths and destructions, even as he disclosed that barons also kill their aides and workers who betray them in the cause of business.

He explained that he has on many occasions submitted detailed reports on such crises to the federal government, who promptly collaborate with South Africa authority to stem the tide.

He however said there were few exception where South Africans attack and even murder Nigerians.

May the best team win. I’m supporting both teams, reason being I’m Nigerian by nationality, but South Africa is my home. It’s hard to choose one team over the other . Either ways, I’ll be at Xai xai in Melville to watch the match

No, they not. It depends on the area you live. Most South African folks I know just want to live their life. Dem no even send you. Dem just wan work, make money enjoy their lives. Na mostly those urchins and economically disadvantaged ones for location dey do xenophobic. If you live for suburb you fit live for this country for 100 years. You no go ever see any xenophobic attack
XhosaNostra:

Nigerians living in South Africa would answer that question better, in case I'm accused of covering up when I say it's not so.
The long & short of it though is, we're not all xenophobic. 50/50, I'd say.

Nigerians haff started.

"Walkover" "South Africa are our perennial wives" bla bla bla.

This is how you people make mouths before games, at the end you get disappointed. Learn to tone down.

There were FOUR key things that impressed me about South Africa against Egypt:

Their PRESS : They made life uncomfortable for Egypt with a "modern" press as the Egyptians tried to play out from the back.

This could be problematic for us. Neither the duo of Ekong or Omeruo are very assured on the ball. And we are renowned for making back passes too much. That should be something to take note of.

The Hold Up Play of Mathiba: The guy was a beast up front against the physical Hegazi. Held play well and brought in the likes of Percy Tau, Lorch and the midfielders into the game.

Nigerian defenders have to be really physical against him.

Their One-touch Football:
Not even the more technically astute North African teams have played the kind of pass-and-move football the South Africans played at times.

To be honest. It was thrilling.

That kind of passing can cut a defense into two very quickly. We have to be on guard.

Defensive Organization: That man in midfield, Furman, protected the defense SUPERBLY. And the defense played their part too.

In the end, Nigeria possess more than enough firepower to win this game. But it will NOT be a walk over like many are already claiming all over social media.

We play a different style of football from Egypt. And that counts for a lot.

I HOPE of course, the Eagles carry the day.
not to worry bros go and ask naby Keita what ndidi and Etebo did to him, Furman would have his hands really full tonight

Nigeria will win. Forget about the South Africa defence. They will play more open against Nigeria believing they can win.. That's where we would hit them
