We May Lose 1 Gold As Osayomi Fails Drug Test by Abagworo(m): 12:53am On Oct 11, 2010
Nigeria’s sweet tale at the 2010 Commonwealth Games turned sour yesterday, as women 100m gold medallist Damola Osayomi tested positive to banned drugs.

Athletics Federation of Nigeria officials confirmed that Osayomi’s A samples tested positive to stimulants. And she could be stripped of the gold she won controversially last Thursday, if she fails to give satisfactory explanations on the drug samples found in her system.
It was gathered that Osayomi was given prescription by the Nigeria medical team, to fight a nagging tooth ache and it was that drug that led to her predicament.
“She took medication for her toothache and we strongly suspect that it was that, which led to her failed drug test,” said AFN president, Solomon Ogba.
He said that Nigeria would make a strong case for the athlete, with a view of keeping the 100m gold she won, after Australia’s Sally Pearson was disqualified for false starting. Osayomi ran the women 200m semi_final yesterday, but she failed to qualify for the final.
She is the first athlete to be ensnared by the dope tests, which organisers have strictly adhered to in the course of the Games. All the Nigerian athletes that competed so far have been marched to the doping room, no matter what position they took during their races.

Pray, tell. . .how is this politics?

I'm now convinced the regular posters in this board deliberately post non-politics related threads here.
