Security: Gov. Ugwuanyi orders immediate demolition of caves in Agwu forests, bush clearing around Umuogbua Ihe tunnel

Governor Ifeanyi Ugwuanyi of Enugu State, today, visited the Umuogbua Ihe tunnel along Enugu-Port Harcourt Expressway by Awgu Local Government Area, which serves as a hide-out and escape route for kidnappers operating in the area.

Gov. Ugwuanyi also visited the Ihe-Agbogugu-Ogbaku-Amurri and Isu-Awaa-Agbudu forests in the same local government area, ordering the immediate demolition of Agbogugu and Isu-Awaa-Agbudu caves to enhance the security of the areas.

The governor equally inspected the ongoing construction of a military base along Enugu-Port Harcourt Expressway by Umuogbua Ihe, Awgu LGA and further directed that the bushes around the tunnel/kidnappers' den should be cleared immediately.

Gov. Ugwuanyi who was taken round the locations by the Chairman of Awgu LGA, Hon. Stanley Okeke, members representing Awgu North and South state constituencies, Hon. Mrs. Jane Eneh and Hon. Johnson Chukwuobasi, respectively, and other stakeholders of the council, disclosed that a joint security patrol team will commence an extensive surveillance of the affected areas to ensure maximum security and strict compliance with the directives.

Enugu State is truly in the hands of God. #amokelouis

Shouldn't stop there.

Find locals with money and allow them bulldoze those lands and build companies there where your state people can work. Start issuing free lands to all young men from your state.

Dash hectares of land like groundnuts, best students from all courses in all your tertiary institutions should get 2 plots free.

Give CofO to everyone who asks. That way, your state will be free of all those herdsmen hiding in forests.

Good Governance.
We wish other state Governors in Nigeria can do this as well.
In so doing, kidnapping and robbery will be a thing of the past.....gradually.

God bless Enugu state.
God bless Nigeria.

Caves?
Your excellency, caves are natural edifices; please don't destroy them.
Kidnapping is one of the easiest crimes to stop. Money, calls and movement can be easily traced in todays world; its easy. Kidnapping is no longer an occurrence in many sane societies.

Catch a few of these kidnappers, put them on trial and execute them if found guilty. NOTE: not one kidnapper has been executed despite the evil they do.

Then put in place 21st century standard police work.

Such an unintelligent representation of leadership. Destroy Caves that predate the creation of your state for criminals that hide in it? They would simply find other places to hide and yet your tourism potential would be further reduced.
Why do we have such unintelligent orders?

you just spoke my mind. There are always intelligent ways of killing rats in a native pot without destroying that native pot. This wisdom is what most of our leaders lack. They don't know what tourism mean apart from what they see abroad. This is why our tourism sector is so poor.

Can't help but agree. That was a really bad decision. Why not seal the caves for now, to be unsealed at such a time when security is attained? Sometimes, I wonder the calibre of people that are employed to advice our leaders. Such a shame

Wen dem talk sey dis governor no get sense, I bin tink sey d na bad belle dey cos d talk.
But now am sure he is an illiterate.

How can he even think of destroying nature sites like caves? Caves that have been in existence for thousands of years. A potential money spinning tourist site.

Am so angry right now.

Is there no right thinking person in his cabinet to advise this illiterate?

You can provide security without destroying natural artifacts. We didn't hear Afghan Army n US forces proposing to level down the mountains cos the talibans are hiding in the caves.

Auction the cave, don't destroy it. If a cave act as a hideout then you already know where to catch the thief.

Other reasonable governments are creating something that will attract tourists to their countries, and this man ordered to destroy one of the finest tourism attractions that nature handed to the state.
Oil makes Nigerian politicians reason upside down.
