The National Youth Service Corps (NYSC) has nabbed ten corp members trying to infiltrate its orientation camps by registering with fake credentials. Earlier this year, the corp had talked tough on fake corp members and its effort to curb the menace. The strategies put in place has been bearing fruits with this latest arrest adding one more feather to the body’s efforts.

Three of the said suspects were apprehended in the Taraba State NYSC Orientation Camp. These fake corp members claimed to be graduates of Istop University, Cotonou, Benin Republic. The concerned persons are Iliyasu Usman from Sociology department, Nasiru Yau from Mass Communication department and Sheu Muktar from the Computer science department.

In the course of the NYSC camp registration, these culprits were found to have no substantial knowledge about their course of study and certificate.

Similarly, in the Katsina State NYSC Orientation Camp, two allegedly fake corp members were apprehended. In this same camp, six other prospective corp members have been subjected to thorough screening to determine the authenticity of their credentials.

In Kebbi State NYSC Orientation Camp as well, four prospective corp members have been caught red-handed with fake credentials from Imo State University. The persons who were found in possession of these said certificates are Chigozie Evidence Chijioke, Ononuju Amarach Nwamaka, Nwachukwu Chimaobi.

The governing board of the NYSC body is once again using these apprehensions to issue a stern warning to cunny individuals who are looking to fraudulently participate in the one-year mandatory service for one reason or the other to desist from such act as anyone found wanting will be handed to security officials for further investigation.

In a related event, the Director-General of NYSC, Brigadier General Sule Zakari paid a complimentary visit to the Sokoto State NYSC Orientation Camp in Wamakko. While in the camp, the Director-General urged every corp member present to abide by the rules and regulations of this great nation. He further embraced them to welcome every Skills Acquisition and Entrepreneurship Development (SAED) with open arms in a bid to empower themselves and work towards financial freedom.

While in the Sokoto NYSC Camp premises, the Director-General took a stroll around the environment in a bid to inspect every facility provided for the comfort of corp members.
