The problem with Nigerians is that most people don't know the difference between security dogs and companion dogs. Not all security dogs should be kept with children alone. infact, as an adult, some require you own a gun to keep them but as usual Nigerians just want any exotic dog without asking relevant questions.

Animals should be in the bush taking care of themselves

All animal breeders/rearers are supposed to be banished to the bushes away from human civilization

Only dog allowed to be around people in Africa are the local dogs (ekuke)

we all know the problem with Rottweiler, they have memory issues and very aggressive. Leaving your Rottweiler for just one week is enough without contact is enough for it to loose bond with the owner. That's why the government in leu with vet's should ensure people don't just own pets indescriminately without certification.

From the news I saw on Facebook... The boy and his four year old elder brother were playing outside. The pit bull had already wandered out of its cage and coming towards the children. The eldest was fast enough to flee on sighting the dog while the younger was too late to take flight. The dog pounced on him, drew him like 30 meters away and began to maul him. A woman on a balcony saw this and raised alarm.

While people threw stones at the dog, it didn't yield until a man slashed it with a cutlass... It didn't leave the boy's head either until the man struck the dog on the face and it fell down dead... But it had caused enough damage already.

A commenter there said pit bulls don't yield after biting in an attack... It's either it kills the prey or ends up being killed.

Especially if it is a big dog. Dogs bite for different reasons. Sometimes jealousy especially with a new baby in the house.

A lot of Dogs in Nigeria are bred as protective Dogs. So they are usually weary of anything that is new in the home.

BTW that looks like a Rotweiler. Just like a few other people have already commented.

The Dog went to the baby's house to attack the baby... It was a neighbors dog. The baby was playing on his own in his varenda when the dog attacked.
