below are excerpts of a report i wrote in october 2009 when nigerians were clamouring for amodu's head. within the next few weeks, i'll be releasing excerpts of this report for coach samson siasia and indeed all super eagles lovers to read and learn from. siasia should beware of "hossana today, crucify him tomorrow"! below are your excerpts:

Nigerians Are Generally Insatiable

I’m sorry to say this but the truth must be said, it almost seem like sometimes there is nothing you can do to get Nigerian football fans satisfied. Let’s back up a little, in 97, when this same Amodu was sacked, Philip Troussier took over the national team (by the way, of course then, Troussier too wasn’t a world name, his only successes were only Ivory Coast and Morroco in club football till that very time, and I have lots of respect for him too as a coach and tactician), Troussier played three matches with the Super Eagles, he won all i.e. a 100% record, yet people screamed that he was bringing a strange formation and tactic to the national team, that he wasn’t good enough, despite his 100% record with the team. The summary is that he ended up being sacked after qualifying the Super Eagles for the World Cup ’98, despite his 100% record with the team. You begin to wonder, this people who say ‘sack the coach, sack the coach’, what do they really want in a coach. The same people who cried that Amodu was not a good coach and replaced him with Troussier also replaced the same Troussier before you could say Jack Robinson. The people who cried and lobbied for the sack of Troussier also said he wasn’t a world-class coach. Simply put, they are just critics, they never see anything positive, you can never satisfy them. They are the same ones crying for Amodu’s head today.

more excerpts from my october 2009 report on amodu's super eagles

When A Coach Has Never Lost A Match For Over A Year

Amodu’s fouth and latest coming has lasted well over a year now. Can you think about a coach who has coached his team for over a year, has played at least 15 matches (the vast majority of them competitive), lost NONE, won at least 10 out of 15, and yet people are shouting that he’s not a good coach. I mean, what do you use in judging or knowing a good coach if not results. This man has never lost a match in this whole time, and yet it seems the way people are calling for his head, he has lost all the games he has played with the team. His results speak clearly that he’s not failing but succeeding. How I wish most Nigerians can be objective when they make their opinion. You think a poor coach will have such a run of form with his team both home and away in competitive games for well over a year without losing even a single game? Obviously not.

the above was written in october 2009 when shuaibu amodu hadn't lost any competitive game for over a year in world cup qualifying series, and yet nigerians were bitterly calling for his head. and of course, once he started losing matches in january 2010 at the nations cup, he got sacked! siasia beware!

@skilljed,
pls do not be angry at us bcs i was among those who not only wanted him sacked but wanted him jailed. obviously we were right over our call for his sack but our reasons were wrong.
now the main reason why we wanted amodu sacked was that he was over good. i mean he was too good to be a coach for the super eagles.
amodu is so good that he shld be coaching the brazilian team, spainish team or england team.
for playing up to 15 matches loosing none and winning 10, drawing 5 according to u, clubs like man u are surposed to give him a blank cheque to replace fergusson.
if i may ask, is amodu trained only for the eagles or can he still coach clubs like barca, madrid and chelsea.
in fact, such a coach with this great history as u outlined here is supposed to be robbing shoulders with mourinho.
amodu my foot. if siasia likes, let him be ware and he if does like like him not be ware as the coaches come and go and the super eagles remains.
