An audio of a conversation purportedly between Mamman Daura, a cousin of President Muhammadu Buhari and one of his closest supporters, and Mamman Tukur, a perceived member of his cabal, has been obtained.

During the conversation, made public by SaharaReporters, Daura referred to the president’s wife, Aisha, as a “suicide bomber from Yola.”

The conversation reportedly took place during Buhari’s medical vacation in the Uk and the two men were overheard discussing their worries about his health condition during his treatment.

The men also discussed the case of the suspended Director General of the National Intelligence Agency, Ambassador Olusola Oke, who was alleged to have bribed people to speak up for him following the discovery last April that he was warehousing funds in a Lagos apartment.

According to Mamman Daura, the suspended DG even bribed Senate President Bukola Saraki to speak on his behalf.

Just as Abba Kyari has been accused of subverting Vice President, Yemi Osinbajo, Mamman Daura, President Muhammadu Buhari’s nephew, has been accused of trying to boss Osinbajo while he was Acting President.

Junaid Mohammed, a second republic lawmaker, who made this claim, equally suggested that President Buhari has lost total control of his government as Daura has allegedly constituted himself the center of power.

Junaid, in an interview with PUNCH, said Daura now claims “the government belongs to him and his ilk” and that they will do “all they can” with it.

“Sometimes, Daura was in the habit of trying to reach out to Osinbajo and suggest what Osinbajo should do and should not do.

“Mamman Daura has never been elected into any office in his life. As I speak, the man does not hold any piece of paper indicating that he has held any position. But he is more powerful than Buhari. He is effectively in charge of the country, under the presidency.”

He said: “The grapevine in the north is very leaky. We talk to people who talk to him. We talk even to (Buhari’s) family members who are unhappy with the way things are going.

“They (the cabal) are ruthless. If they find that they can have somebody who will replace Buhari and do their own bidding, they wouldn’t mind collaborating with him.
“We now have a situation whereby the presidency is becoming too powerful, and unfortunately, the president is not in charge. There are some shady characters whom nobody elected,” he said.

Junaid further said President Buhari will not find it easy “to free himself from the cabal” because “he (Buhari) has already given the impression that he is under the cabal’s spell.”

He said also that those who came out to jubilate over the president’s return were rented by the “Aso Rock cabal”

“They were rented crowds. We know how they were recruited. Some of the characters in the cabal and their lackeys have a voice in the media. Their thugs in town were the people who were given money and some transport was provided for them. Some came from as far as Kaduna, Jos and other areas — so, I’m not surprised,” he said.
