this shud tell u how powerful this phone is even @ 2.1, they had it running on internet against the HTC EVO and this phone wuz killing the EVO wit speed like no 1's business, SGS baby

No way in hell was the SGS faster than the Evo 4G in browsing speed.
Apart from the vastly improved speeds of 4G against 3G HSDPA, FroYo gives a natural performance advantage in the Android browser over 2.1.

I'm confused about one thing. You've been talking about how Android is really 'open' and that you get all the freedom you need on the platform. Yet you've been running an outdated version of the OS for a while, and you need to actually tinker with the device to move it to FroYo at the moment. That's irony

You need to do your homework. There's a lot of added value in the move from 2.1 to 2.2.

- Disabling data services now very handy
- Voice activation for everything. Making calls, browsing, searching, maps, etc
- Take snapshots without the need for any app

interesting deal, but the Iphone is much more expensive than the Galaxy S(for wht reason, I juz can't tell till now ) so I guess am following the crowd, tho I had it a bit cheaper, if u really want it, am gonna sell it to u @ just 1,100 Cedis, don' know how much tht is in Naira, btw its a 16gig-unlocked, I tried posting some pix, seems they too big, will keep on trying tho

1. iPhones are released on a yearly cycle. Expect a new one around june next year
2. Apple usually sets the pace, not the other way round. If everyone was into big screens, why is the iPhone by far the highest selling smartphone in the world?
