what is the one hope ?

*** w82 12/15 p. 19 par. 7 Love as a “Bond of Union” Proves to Be “Perfect” ***

Down to the spring of 1935 the dedicated, baptized witnesses of Jehovah had entertained in true faith the “one hope” that was set before them in Ephesians 4:4-6, as follows: “One body there is, and one spirit, even as you were called in the one hope to which you were called; one Lord, one faith, one baptism; one God and Father of all persons.” But in that memorable year of 1935, at the convention held in Washington, D.C., the “great multitude,” as visualized at Revelation 7:9-17 (Authorized Version), was identified as being composed of the Fine Shepherd’s “other sheep” of John 10:16. The anointed remnant who still held on to their valid “one hope” rejoiced greatly over this advancing light upon the Holy Scriptures and set themselves to act wholeheartedly in the gathering of those “other sheep.” They did not feel that the “other sheep” were infringing on the “one baptism” by themselves getting immersed in water, for the baptism of such “other sheep” was as much a symbol of their dedication to Jehovah God through Christ as that of the anointed remnant had been. The love with which they had clothed themselves now widened out to embrace those lovable “other sheep” of their own Shepherd.

*** w88 8/15 p. 28 Maintaining Our Christian Oneness ***

However, it took effort to maintain this unity. The apostle Paul entreated his fellow workers “to walk worthily of the [heavenly] calling . . . earnestly endeavoring to observe the oneness of the spirit in the uniting bond of peace.” They were not to split up into various sects. No, “one body there is, and one spirit, even as you were called in the one hope to which you were called; one Lord, one faith, one baptism; one God and Father of all.” The apostles, shepherds, and teachers in the congregation were provided to help “all attain to the oneness in the faith.”—Ephesians 4:1-6, 11-14.

*** w80 3/1 pp. 11-12 He “Loved Them to the End” ***

Though the great majority of those today who make up the “one flock, [under the] one shepherd” appreciate this distinction, the question might arise with some as to how a person knows if he has been invited to the heavenly calling. This can no longer be determined by any external evidence as when the miraculous gifts of the spirit were given in the early days of the Christian congregation. Of even greater value than those gifts was the glorious hope of gaining the heavenly inheritance given to those who were “called children of God” and were “partakers of the heavenly calling.” (Heb. 3:1; 1 John 3:1-3) There was then only the one hope, but today, when that part of God’s “administration” is about complete, the gates of the Kingdom are swinging wide open with an invitation for a “great crowd” to gain earthly blessings, as already mentioned. Especially has this been true from 1935 onward, when the “great crowd” was clearly identified as an earthly class with hope of endless life in a paradise earth.—Eph. 1:10; Rev. 7:9-17.

*** w56 11/15 p. 694 par. 17 Faithful Stewardship ***

For nearly forty years now Jehovah’s dealings with them have been demonstrated. Thousands have been rejected and turned out of the organization because they were sinners and hypocrites. “The sinners in Zion are afraid; trembling hath seized the godless ones: Who among us can dwell with the devouring fire? who among us can dwell with everlasting burnings?” (Isa. 33:14, AS) The next few verses show who shall abide. Those of the anointed remnant who have withstood the fire of God’s judgment and have abode his wrath and displeasure are now happy, Isaiah 33:17 (AS) stating: “Thine eyes shall see the king in his beauty: they shall behold a land that reacheth afar.” O happy blessed anointed of God, your land is good, your King is with you! Now is fulfilled: “One body there is, and one spirit, even as you were called in the one hope to which you were called; one Lord, one faith, one baptism; one God and Father . . . until we all attain to the oneness in the faith, . . . to a full-grown man, to the measure of growth that belongs to the fullness of the Christ.” (Eph. 4:4-6, 13, NW) This also is a fulfillment of one of the great signs of the end of this evil system of things. Hence Jehovah’s blessing is seen so much in evidence. Would you also have his blessing? Then join with God’s anointed in their service, with unity and in praise of Jehovah God, working under their direction in peace.

*** w52 1/1 p. 11 pars. 25-27 The Unity of God’s Visible Organization ***

25 That is why Paul went on to say at Ephesians 4:4-6, NW: “One body there is, and one spirit, even as you were called in the one hope to which you were called; one Lord, one faith, one baptism; one God and Father of all persons, who is over all and through all and in all.” Jehovah was dealing with all the body members through His Word and His visible organization, and, what is more, he is doing the same in this our day for our oneness as a body.

27 Paul was impressing upon the minds of the Ephesians that there is just one body and that governing this one body is one spirit, God’s spirit. They were all called in the one hope, the hope of being joint heirs with Christ Jesus in the heavenly kingdom and of living eternally.

I really took time to present what WT publications says about that reference. In all these publication, is clear that with reference to the one hope of Eph 4:3, it refers to the hope of heavenly calling.

The whole Christian scriptures was written to anointed Christians. Men and women who have had the hope heavenly life. Eph 4:3 refers to the heavenly calling, the one hope all true Christians entertain.

And the below citation makes it interesting as it relates to Matthew 5:5

Watchtower 1974 June 15 pp.377-378 "saying that the 'mild-tempered will inherit the earth.' Yes, those mild-tempered ones who are to be with Christ in his heavenly kingdom will rule over this earth."

Insight on the Scriptures, Volume 1 p.1201 "The anointed members of the Christian congregation are spoken of as having a heavenly inheritance, sharing Jesus' inheritance as his "brothers." (Eph 1:14; Col 1:12; 1Pe 1:4, 5) This includes the earth.-Mt 5:5."

Watchtower 1959 August 1 p.479 "When Jesus said, as recorded at Matthew 5:5, "Happy are the mild-tempered ones, since they will inherit the earth," of whom was he speaking?-H. S., U.S.A. Jesus here applied the expression "mild-tempered" or "meek" to his disciples of that time who were in line for the heavenly kingdom. He was the chief meek one among them and their example. Hebrews 1:1, 2 and 2:5, 6 show that Jesus inherits the earth or takes over the possession of it. His disciples were made his joint heirs in the Kingdom and enter into this inheritance or possession of the earth with him.

Hence Matthew 5:5 does not strictly apply to the "OTHER SHEEP." Hahahahahahahaha.

By the time your falsehood is exposed with scriptures, you will understand why your " refers" is a big scam and strictly your ideology

If the one hope is heavenly calling , why will Humans live forever on earth according to Christian scripture? Rev 21:3,4

Go read again the nonsense your religion puts up. You will see they are very consistent in the one hope of Eph 4:3

Why in association?

In association is important because the same people you mentioned teach that humans will live forever on earth, so how could they ever said one hope is going to heaven. ??

The writer added " living forever " to the comment, what's the significance ?

See I know you have nothing upstairs except the trash from Paulgrundy , according to him the one hope is been ressurected as spiritual beings to heaven . ... The silly man can't defend the fact that Humans of flesh and blood not spiritual beings are also said to live forever without dying on earth where mankind lives ( Rev 21:3,4 ) , neither can the silly trash in your head defend the fact that Act 24:15 is not a Ressurection to heaven, yet they too are open to gaining everlasting life.

At this point , let the bible educate your ignorance self, that this one hope is simply the " hope of everlasting life " Titus 1:2 . This is the significance of the " living forever " added by the writer . Mankind will live forever on earth, while some brought from earth, will be ressurected as spirit beings to heaven. All will have the same ONe HOPE OF LIVING FOREVER .

Good day .

What did you expect from poorly conceived doctrines that bears all the fingerprint of limited human thinking?

Take a good research into this familiar statement below......

WHETHER our HOPE is everlasting life in HEAVEN or on a paradise EARTH, we must keep pressing on toward that goal.”

in just some few years from 2015 down till today. It becomes an interesting FIND.

I laugh at the USE of the word WHETHER. It's so funny.

Take a look at the BELOW. Someone will still TELL you it's ONE HOPE. IMMORTAL LIFE and the EVERLASTING LIFE conundrum.

ws17 Nov. p.27, 29
This is true whether they hope to live in heaven or on earth.

The prize before us —WHETHER IMMORTAL LIFE in heaven or EVERLASTING LIFE on a paradise EARTH— is marvelous to contemplate.

You purposefully opened a thread, included the name of a religious group saying what they teach is contradictory but you don't have TIME for them! cheesy

Just say you are here to persecute Jehovah's Witnesses!

Because at least prosecutors do allow those they accused to make a public defense, but for malicious persecutors it's unquestionable accusations to be followed instantly by a swift predetermined judgment! John 7:45-52

Just remember that our daddy and mummy are still members of this same organization o, so any accusation you lay against Jehovah's Witnesses equally applies to them as well! cheesy

@rottenaija, I am surprised you cannot explain meaning of one hope and who will inherit the earth. critics should be able to provide alternative explanation to issues they are criticising ?

This is what Jozzy4 wants you to do.
He wants you to ANSWER questions based on UNPROVEN PREMISE.

What you have done is

If you have not engaged your thinking ability, you MAY FALL prey to this TECHNIQUE of ASKING a question BASED on an UNPROVEN PREMISE. By ANSWERING the QUESTION, you are TACITLY accepting its PREMISE.

Loooooool.

Result of a teaching BASED on WHETHER WHETHER WHETHER.

I want to believe you have come across Ephesians 4:4 and Titus 1:2 on this thread that states clearly the ONE HOPE and A HOPE.

No where was it stated in THOSE two SCRIPTURES where the HOPE is SPENT. No mention of HEAVEN or EARTH.

Concerning Inheriting the EARTH read my post up above the THREAD to see how you can RESOLVE or DECODE it.

Both of them are FUGITIVES having no other place to go than the kingdom halls, they're completely empty without the publications of the Watchtower society. Their parents brought them up in the TRUTH, but it's just a pity that they don't want the TRUTH!

They don't want to become submissive so that nobody will watch their backs like people having faith ought to do for one another.

So they want to sit on the fence, yet they're expecting everyone to accept them as part of the global family of peace loving worshippers! wink
