there would be NO such public shaming, if people were not thinking that it was ok to STEAL.public shaming is the least of the problem here, THEFT is the main issue that should be solved, by any means necessary.

the root of public shaming is very simple... it serves emotional relief and as a deterrent to the thief.

Inspite of the highlighted text many Nigerians still commit such atrocities, don't you think another approach should be used? These thieves are aware of the deterrent measures yet they commit crimes

most criminals are aware of all the deterrents out there but still do what they do because they are animals...they dont care about anything but themselves.

why do you think people still carry drugs to China/Saudia Arabia etc when they fully well know that they can get the death penalty for it?!
why do you think people still commit armed robbery/murder etc when they know that they can spend the rest of their life in jail OR even die for it?!
why do you think people still drink and drive, when they fully well know they can kill people while drunk driving?

these set of demons dont care about anything but their own selfish self, and sadly, some are willing to kill/defraud/abuse others to attain their selfish low life aim. IMHO, a bullet to the back of the head (no questions asked) is the only solution here.... as it may not solve the problem, but it certainly will rid the world of such demons.
