The Court of Appeal sitting in Calabar, Cross River State has ordered for rerun in the February 23, 2019 National Assembly election in Akwa Ibom North West Senatorial District.


Igbere TV reports that the court of appeal nullified the election of Dr. Chris Ekpenyong who was wrongly declared winner of the National Assembly Election.

Akpabio, who was not satisfied with the judgment earlier ruled against him by the Justice Akanbi-led Elections Petition Tribunal sitting in Uyo, Akwa Ibom State, filed an appeal at the Court of Appeal, Calabar.

As a result of the ruling, the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) has been ordered to withdraw the Certificate of Return issued to Dr. Chris Ekpenyong and conduct fresh elections in the Akwa Ibom North West Senatorial District within ninety days.

The way this Appeal court is brazenly dishing out election petition judgment both in favor of APC and PDP is alarming.... Just yesterday Appeal court sitting in owerri outrightly declared an unknown APC house of Assembly candidate that finished 4th as the winner of the contest to the bewilderment of the electorates

I know there's no way Akpabio will lose election in Akwa Ibom state. That stadium alone is unbeatable anywhere in the world. The fake integrity of the REC who claims to be a saint is now exposed.

Many want him out of Nddc and he might just be playing into their hands. They may also work to sabotage his influence and re-election.

Now if he wins fine but if he loses, he will still lose both his ministerial seat.

But Fayemi left and won the gov.s election even tho he losses his boss promised to welcome him back to same position.... which I think it's supposed to be the norm in the party, but given by the names above, I don't think they've worked to earn themselves such respect.

He can't rerun as a minister, he must resign first before going into the election. Fayemi resigned before going into the election.
