They said we are the poverty capital of the world.
Our President decided that we should just close our poverty stricken borders to the outside world so that we can manage on our own. Suddenly, scarcity hits Benin republic, Demonstration hits Ghana, Vietnam, Indonesia and Philippines envoys all came calling.

Their economy depends on our poverty.
They are begging the most corrupt nation on Earth to do business with them. They have no buyers for their commodity.
Just In our neighbors domain, scarcity have hit them hard.

Meanwhile at home we are coping just fine. Our markets have not been hit by scarcity. It turned out they need us more than we need them. We have all it takes to stand alone as a nation.
All we need is a plan and a willing leader.

I love Nigeria .

Keep deceiving yourself op. I visited nigeria on 12 of october and i left the country on the 2nd of november and i must say that what i witnessed this time was heartbreaking. People are suffering in nigeria and that's the truth. You can love nigeria all you want but the fact is people are suffering. Everytime i visit nigeria i always get angry at how wicked our rulers/politifians are. And op, yes those countries want our borders open because we have the population for their goods and they need to sell their goods. It's nothing to brag about. Have you checked the prices of food stuff lately in nigeria?
People are suffering.

There is time for everything.. U don't punish an ailing/dying child for hitherto wrong doings... U make efforts to see the child gets treated ,healed and fully recovered before u administer any correction..assuming u still need to.U don't just rush and close a border when there are no palliatives on ground yet...no roads, no power,no security etc .

When production environment is favourable.. , local productions thrive ,then smuggling and unnecessary imports will die a natural death..imagine if local rice is made to sell at 4k...nobody will buy foreign rice at 20k,no matter how 'sweet'

It's doesn't change the fact that Nigeria is still poor!!!

Only high profiled politicians are not feeling the scorching heat of this clueless government!

There's no job!!! Those who have, govt. Is still deliberating to pay them N30,000 undecided A bag of rice is N28,000

It's high time we tell ourselves the truth, we both need each other!!! Remember that a hungry man is an angry man!!!

Many of these policies is only affecting the masses in a negative way!

This is a festive period, when masses come together once in a while to laugh away the stress during the year and he (Buhari) keeps springing out difficulties

Why didn't he close the border before/during election

He will not go unpunished, he should go and ask IBB who's confined in a wheelchair whose billions of money couldn't help

Mtcheeeeeeew, rubbish!!!

How do we grow our economy, if those that send their products to us do not sight their companies here. How do graduates our universities produce year in and out get job. Dunlop Nigeria left to Ghana some years back, produce at Ghana sell to us here. Now, we close our land borders to solve and protect individuals companies that invested massively in rice production so that Nigerians can get jobs, you there sounding unpatroticc

You don't need to force people to do that!!!

Make the environment friendly for business!!! The lack of transparency, bribery and corruption in government is what is discouraging people from investing in this country!!!

Government needs to look at the policies and laws that can favour the masses and not their own pocket!!!

u are the unpatriotic one here albeit ignorantly...can u make a guess why these companies left for more conducive environments? The focus shd be on providing conducive environments and not blind support.. Can u guess why food production dropped drastically these past few years esp in the middle belts? Well,..consider this an assignment from a far more patriotic Nigerian than u may ever be

People are opening stvpid threads up and down. Didn’t you read the report by IMF that Benin’s economy is doing great? Ghana’s economy is growing rapaciously at 8.8%, while the nigerian economy is struggling at less than 2%. Indications are that Nigeria is likely to enter into another recession in 2020.

If you think closing the border is to “punish” neighboring west Africa states, then I’m sorry for you. You have forgotten that Nigerians are all over the sub region? They are into petty trading in these countries. Now the border closure means every west African country will henceforth take steps to protect its domestic market, which is what Ghana is doing now. And now that Ghana is closing it’s retail market to foreigners Nigerians are shouting. Do nigerians have any right to question Ghanaians for closing down shops of foreigners, when Nigeria has closed its land borders?

Nigeria’s problem is not neighbouring countries. Nigerians import everything through the seaports and even airports, including toothpicks and saw dust! Yes, saw dust. Nigerians see nothing wrong with China flooding their markets, but will cry foul because of the small imports from neighboring west African countries. Ghana’s total exports to Nigeria is less than $100 million. How much is Nigeria’s imports from China?

If a Buharist is asked to cut off his fingers & toes or bring his head as a sacrifice to his boss he would do so without hesitation. He has a low intelligence quotient, he is incapable of thinking & he suffers from a terrible affliction. To him black is white & white is black.
